The role of a manager is always changing. Though the traditional functions and roles of a manager are relatively easy to define, in practice it is impossible to predict what you as a manager will be required to do.

In your essay, you should address the following questions that reflect some of the factors that make each manager’s role different (Each question can act as a heading for a section. Each section must be linked to the previous section):
It can be argued that managers are constrained by the environment in which they work. Discuss how the sociocultural and/or technological aspects of the general environment might impact on decision making.
In the context of the communication process, discuss factors within the contemporary workplace (remote work, diverse workforce) which might result in barriers to effective communication and present ideas about how we can overcome these.
Are the principles of scientific management now outdated or are they still useful? Briefly outline this management theory and evaluate the value of in the context of today’s workplace and contemporary ideas around employee wellbeing.

The kingdom of God

Summary
In this course, we are learning that the stories in Luke and Acts are an integral part of the grand story of Christian Scripture. In many ways, God’s action as described in these books provides a microcosm of the overarching themes of creation, fall, and redemption that find meaning and movement throughout the entirety of the Bible. Luke and Acts, in particular, invite us to consider the nature of the promise and possibility that is inherent within the story of the Bible. As we have seen, the good news of Jesus Christ is both the fulfillment of God’s promise and an invitation to discover the possibility of transformation in and for the world.
In order to better understand the meaning and implications of God’s redemptive work in the New Testament, you will choose a person/people or concept that is highlighted in the course for further research and analysis. The topic choices for research and analysis are Mary, costly discipleship, the death of Jesus, the kingdom of God, and the Gentiles. Note that each of these topics has a corresponding article posted in the course.
The signature assignment affords you an extended time to explore the following questions:
How does the topic (Mary, costly discipleship, the death of Jesus, the kingdom of God, or the Gentiles) connect to the larger themes of creation, fall, and redemption within the overarching story of the Bible?
What is important to know about the history, culture, and/or theology surrounding this person or concept?
What was the original meaning of this concept or the significance of this person/people within Luke/Acts?
What insights gained could be meaningful for our context today?
Your research, analysis, and response to these questions will take the form of a research paper, and the project will be completed in three stages:
Part 1: Project Plan – Topic, Thesis, Resources, and Outline.
Part 2: First Draft – Introduction, plus body paragraphs addressing Questions 1, 2, and 3.
Part 3: Final Paper – Revisions of the first draft, plus body paragraphs addressing Question 4, and a conclusion.

Instructions Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

Resources – include an APA-formatted References list with at least the following sources:
The Drama of Scripture;
the accompanying topic article found in the course (i.e the article about Mary, costly discipleship, the death of Jesus, the kingdom of God, or the Gentiles);
two additional sources from the APU Library; see the APU Writing Center’s Research Tips and Resources for suggestions about finding good resources.
NOTE: While you will likely reference the Bible, it does not count toward one of your four required sources. Also, in APA style, classical works – including the Bible – are not listed in the References page. Embed biblical citations within the text as follows: “Then Jesus called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal” (Luke 9:12, NRSV). Only indicate the Bible version in the first citation; it is not necessary to identify each citation as NRSV.
Note: This assignment will be checked for plagiarism. Always review the University’s Academic Integrity Policy statement regarding plagiarism.

The Effects of Business on Consumers and the Environment: Case Study: Perdue Farms

USE REQUIRED RESOURCES ATTACHED!
Prepare: In preparation for your first post in this discussion, you will become familiar with the case of Perdue Farms by means of the material listed on the Required Resources module. You will also find more material via the “Business Ethics Materials” section at the bottom of the Required Resources module page. The central task for this discussion is to examine this case by focusing on 1 out of the following 4 categories: (1) the environment, (2) advertising, (3) consumer safety, or (4) moral responsibility. You must select 1 of these subject headings and your selection will be the main focus of your work for your discussion. Please note that you will be responsible to complete the readings and videos that you will find via the link for your chosen subject heading. (For example, if you choose “the environment” to focus on, then the materials listed via that link are required resources that you need to read/view in preparation for writing your post.)

Reflect:
1) How you reflect in preparation for writing the post will depend on which focus you choose.
If you choose “the environment” as your focus, reflect on the sheer density of chickens raised at any given time in the Perdue facilities. The disposal of their discarded remains and their processing for distribution, either individually and most definitely together, pose a number of environmental concerns.
2) Make sure that you complete the required readings and videos on the main Required Resources page as well as the resources required for your chosen category.
3) Then reflect on the ethical theories that we have covered in the discussions thus far, and identify one that you want to apply for your analysis in your discussion post.
4) Also, reflect on the regulations (or lack thereof) in the factory farming industry in order to be able to examine how our nation’s laws affect the operations of the business. You will need to research the applicable laws on the factory farming industry.
5) Finally, since Perdue Farms is an American corporation, reflect on the mixed economic system in the United States in order to articulate the setting for the operations of factory farming, and then, be able to analyze the ethical actions of Perdue given this setting.

Write:
Part 1
The central task for this discussion is to examine this case by focusing on 1 out of the following 4 categories: (1) the environment, (2) advertising, (3) consumer safety, or (4) moral responsibility. You must select 1 of these categories and your selection will be the main focus of your post.
In the first part of your initial post, you will need to introduce the Perdue case by explaining the relevant details for understanding the controversial issues associated with the category that you have chosen. Within this introduction, you will need to:
(1) articulate the relevant characteristics of U.S.’s mixed economic system that the case is operating within, and
(2) present the regulations for the factory farming industry that are relevant to understanding the case and your chosen focus for this post.
(1) and (2) will provide the setting for you to be able to examine how the nation’s laws affect business operations.
Part 2
In the second part of your initial post, you need to explain the ethical dimensions of the problem in this case focusing on the category you chose (either the environment, advertising, consumer safety, or corporate social responsibility). Your explanation should present an analysis of the interplay between the business activity in the case and the category you chose. Your analysis of the problem must be well supported by clearly applying a framework from an ethical theory of your choice. It should also be supported by reliable and/or scholarly sources, which must be cited using APA formatting style.
It is important to present your analysis of the problem in a way that identifies which entities (Perdue as a corporation, the economic system in the USA, the regulatory control of the state, or all of these) have a role in the moral problem that you have presented. As part of your analysis, you must evaluate the negative or positive effects of the interplay between business activity and the category you chose.

Write down an explanation, based on a scientific theory, of why lightning travels through the air.

Write down an explanation, based on a scientific theory, of why lightning travels through the air. Explain why it is scientific. Then write down a non-scientific explanation of the same phenomenon, and explain why it is non-scientific. Then write down a pseudoscientific explanation of the same phenomenon, and explain why it is pseudoscientific.
2. Write a question appropriate for this exam about the action potential of the human nervous system and a current source of Y amperes. Then answer it. You will be graded on both the appropriateness of the question and the correctness of the answer.
3. An electrical circuit contains a capacitor of Z picofarads and a resistor of X ohms. If the capacitor is fully charged, and then the voltage is interrupted, in how much time will about 95% of its charge be transferred to the resistor? Show your calculations.
4. Referring to Question 3 above, if the resistor is a piece of some unknown substance Y meters long with a cross-sectional area of one square meter, is that substance likely to be a conductor, semiconductor, or insulator? Show your calculations, explain your reasoning, and cite any references you use.
5. For each of (a) and (b) below, write a single grammatically correct sentence containing the words indicated that makes scientific sense. You may use any other words as well including conjunctions; a list of definitions, however, will not receive credit.
(a) , ohm, series, current, total. (b) , charge, capacitance, defibrillate, circuit.
6. Write down the electrostatic force equation and define each letter and symbol in it. Then compute the force between two charged objects of X and Y coulombs respectively if they are at a distance from one another of Z meters. Show your calculations.
7. Referring to the system in Question 6 above, write a question appropriate for this exam involving a calculation of the net electrostatic forces exerted by those two objects on a third object with a charge of 120 coulombs. (The three objects cannot all be in one straight line.) Draw a sketch of the system in the question, labeling the key quantities. Then answer the question.
You will be graded on both the question’s appropriateness and the answer’s correctness.
8. If your cell phone has a battery that can hold X milliampere-hours of charge, how long will the phone continuously operate if it draws 3.5 volts? If necessary, realistically estimate the wattage at which your phone operates – cite any references you use. Show your calculations.
9. Write a 20-40 word paragraph answer to this question: based on your understanding of electric fields, what are three ways that electric power can be generated within the electric field generated by your body? Explain your answer, citing any references you use.
Lastly Write a question appropriate for this exam on a topic that was covered in Lectures 1-12 of this course so far but has not been covered on this exam so far. Then answer that question. You will be graded on both the appropriateness of the question and the correctness of the answer.
