– Crime Statistics Analysis

Compare
or contrast Texas or your local municipality’s crime rates/statistics
with those of the United States. Note especially those percentages or
rates that are different from the national average. Include race and
gender if possible. This analysis achieves one of the important elements
you need to consider and include with your Final Paper due in Session
15. You may document your crime statistics in a table, chart, or similar
form and then submit it for grading. You may also find that
concentrating on the crime statistics closely related to your incident
selection would be most beneficial for your Final Paper. An example is
if your incident is about the murder of an African-American male, you
would definitely want to research the number of African-American males
murdered in your locale in comparison to those murdered in the U.S.
during the same time period. You may find crime statistics on federal
or state Agency websites. If you download these, please also explain
how these statistics are related to your topic.

either domestic or foreign policy.
The project will be presented in PowerPoint, and the presentation should include the information below.
Discuss the issue, and outline goals of the group.
Provide a clear statement of the group’s foreign policy or domestic policy issue. Include a detailed description of the group’s goal(s). You must include at least one goal but no more than three.
Discuss the organization of the group.
Your group must be structured as a single-issue group (i.e., a group that focuses on one primary issue).
Provide a brief description of the group’s major leadership positions and their functions.
Include a description of the group’s general membership, including an approximate size and general demographic of membership (e.g., high income/lower income; urban/rural).
Outline the group’s strategies and tactics for success.
Describe one to three strategies that your group will use. A strategy is a general plan that will move your
group toward success, such as using direct lobbying of policy makers or using the court system.
Describe two to three tactics that your group will use. A tactic is a specific action that works to make a
strategy successful. See the table below to better understand how strategies and tactics relate.
Strategy Tactics (associated with specific strategy)

Direct lobbying of
policy makers
One-on-one meetings with policy makers
Testifying before Congressional Committee

Using the federal court system to advance group objectives (e.g., filing court cases,

Encouraging the media to conduct and
publicize poll results about your group’s issue

Channie Wenjack

Wenjack Assignment

Based on Ian Adams’ Maclean’s story, “The Lonely Death of Charlie Wenjack”, and the two other secondary source texts you’ve read, explain In a series of paragraphs (informal essay of 600-900 words), how Chanie’s story has come to be an important part of our history as a country. In particular, explain which elements most seem to speak to people, and why.

You should quote from Adams’ article, from one of the other articles and from the novel.

Select quotations which require some interpretation and explanation — this will lead to a more compelling analysis.

With each line you quote, consider:
Why is it important?
What does it illustrate, imply, etc.?

Make sure you integrate your quotations (try out both methods) and reference your work properly. Set up your response in correct MLA style, including a Works Cited page for the sources from which you quote.

Your response will be marked equally for style and content, this is your first Summative Assessment. Your essay needs to be between 600-900 words. You can resubmit if you hand it in by the due date. The rubric on the following page will be used to mark the informal essay. Your readers’ notes will be marked as formative work.

With the high rate of immigration along with higher birth rates, the Hispanic population in the USA is growing more than ten times faster than the general population and will comprise 30 percent of the US population by 2050 (Ueltschy, 2011).
Assume that you are a marketing manager for a youth clothing manufacturer who has just read about the megatrend of the rising Hispanic influence as consumers in the United States. Explain this megatrend and indicate why it might be important to your company’s marketing campaign.

Webserver Auditing

Web server auditing can go a long way in enforcing tighter security and ensuring business continuity. The power of log data is tremendous. Web server logs record valuable information pertaining to usage, errors, and other important security events. Using a specialized auditing tool can be extremely helpful during the audit of web servers. In your discussion this week, please discuss the methods of identifying weak web server configurations and how to mitigate them for a secure web server. Possible concepts to include are SSL certificates, HTTPS usage, attack surface, SQL injection, vulnerability migration, and least privilege. In at least one of your peer responses, provide an overview of how to audit the web server’s security and implement best practices.
