**My topic is Cholera.** The EPA is a general document to help you understand what a risk assessment is and what it means. Talks about the steps of doing a risk assessment. It’s an explanation of what’s involved in a risk assessment and what the steps are and mean. There are different types of risk assessments, one is an environmental risk assessment and one is a human health risk assessment. Environmental risk assessment looks at risk in the environment and a human health risk assessment looks at the risk from an agent directly to humans and this assignment is a human health risk assessment. The presentation is narrated and I MUST have a scriipt to say for each slide that is clear and numbered by the slide it goes with. A PowerPoint presentation must be used so that when you submit it, it can be run through the plagiarism software. Audio narrating each individual slide separately is easiest through PowerPoint. Should be 12-15 mins. maximum including all narrations. So not too many slides that it can’t fit in the time limit. Must have at least 10 references minimum. It should not sound scriipted or being read from a scriipt. It should sound like you’re teaching everyone. Like you know what you’re talking about and have studied it and memorized what you want to say. Only bullet points! No copying of complete sentences and make sure graphics are easy to see. Not too many words per slide vs. the graph/photo used. Bullet points and paraphrased. For infectious disease topics- lots of information at the CDC website (unless it’s a non-reportable disease), published studies could show data and examples of outbreaks. Only have to use the source once to cite it and count it. The EPA website may also be good. Avoid websites that are not verified like American Cancer Society is a valid source for information, so newspaper articles and magazine articles are not valid sources for this. Looking for peer-reviewed scientific research articles and the best source for this is PubMed.gov or MEDLINE database. Use journals and research sources indexed in PubMed for peer-reviewed journal/article information. Use more search times to filter or narrow the search down. Best Match filter might help you a lot.
I will upload a document with very specific instructions that must be followed. I will also upload the rubric that this will be graded on. And the EPA document that explains what a risk assessment is. The textbook we use for this course is: Textbook
