Developmental Plan

Assignment Instructions:
Consider the principals addressed in the content presentations this week and identify one aspect of nursing practice you would propose to see changed. Describe how technology would assist you in this change
process. As part of this change process discussion, provide:
1. What is your goal? (See SMART goal section below)
2. Provide 2-3 objectives for your goal. (See SMART goal section below)
3. Discuss what tools or resources do you need to facilitate successful implementation.
4. Discuss any foreseeable barriers that could impede implementation.
5. Discuss an implementation plan for your identified goal.
6. Identify three characteristics of effective leaders that will assist you in obtaining your identified goal.
7. Discuss at least three strategies from Creating Magic that will potentially help you grow as a leader.
8. Submit a 2-4-page APA formatted paper excluding the title and reference pages.
Example Goals and Objectives
Goal 1: Expand and enhance public and staff access to library and electronic information resources through
our website.
Objectives:
Replace the library’s web server and software by August of 2010.
1. Form a web committee comprised of representatives from each department by January 2009 to evaluate
resources that should be included in the site and to make a schedule to routinely update these resources.
2. The outreach coordinator will develop marketing materials to promote the site and aim to increase
traffic to the site by 20% after six months.
3. The library manager will establish a list of website competencies for staff and will offer two training
sessions to familiarize staff with the resources on the library’s site by March 2009.
Goals and Objectives should be SMART
The acronym stands for:
• Specific – Be clear about what needs to be done. Someone other than the person who wrote the plan
should be able to clearly see the intended technology path and what will need to be done to successful.
• Measurable – Refer to specific measurements to gauge success. Use details like how many, an expected
percentage increase in usage or rate of participation to establish a measurable success rate.
• Attainable – Are there sufficient resources, staff time, and budget to achieve goal/objective? When
referencing staff resources, state the position in the library that will be responsible for completing the
task so that a clear picture can develop about the amount of work that will be delegated.
• Relevant – Does the objective support the goal and does the goal support the library’s mission? The
projects and activities that the library undertakes should be in direct support of the mission.
• Time-bound – When should the objective be completed or measured?
Writing in the SMART style helps to ensure that expectations are clear from the beginning and to keep the
plan on track.
However, it is important to remember that things can change! If you can no longer achieve the
goals set out in your plan, document those challenges or barriers and explain why things were changed.

The Nature of Research (Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches)

MODULE 1 DISCUSSION – I have included an example from Course Hero (attached)

The Nature of Research (Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches)

Thus far, we have discussed two of the approaches in research—qualitative and quantitative. The line between quantitative and qualitativecan be an interesting one because there is really no pure version of one or the other. Having an understanding of the essential differencesbetween qualitative and quantitative methods can help in choosing the optimum study design and in balancing the two approaches.
In your discussion, carefully analyze the differences between each of the research approaches. In your discussion, list advantages, disadvantages and limitations that may be present for each approach using citations and references to validate your argument.

Tragedy: Sophocles Oedipus

After learning about the nature of Greek tragedy, and having read three plays in the genre, you are
asked to take a position regarding what the author of Oedipus the King is saying about the
foreknowledge of the gods and the inevitability of human destiny.

Exploratory paper on consumerism and consumption in Buddhism

Look at an issue like consumerism and consumption from a particular point of view such as Buddhism with regards to the environment
*simply do an explanatory paper, or what we sometimes call a “state of the question” paper. This is a paper that is designed to offer an overview of a topic. It’s explaining what is going on in a particular subject area or it’s tackling a particular question. What are some of the key questions or arguments around this subject? What is the historical development of this topic? Why is it significant? Who are some big names in that field and what do they say in their writings? This kind of presentation/paper does not centre around an argument or thesis. Think of it as teaching the class something new. You may or may not agree with the positions you’re explaining; you’re just laying out the issue.
*3-5 sources using Routledge handbook of religion and ecology by Willis Jenkins also use Yale Forum website and other sources that are not specific to a university. Should be able to access the references directly and should be scholarly.

Organizational Systems Comparison

Background Information:
Companies generally organize themselves into tall (vertical), flat (horizontal), or wide organizational
structures. When you picture an organizational chart, the CEO of the tall organization generally leads from
the top and leads from a distance. There are typically lots of spaces steps between leaders and employees
with a well-defined chain of command. In flat organizations, there are fewer levels of management and
employees have more autonomy; the CEO may be more knowledgeable about the daily activities in the
organization and are more connected with employees.
On the other hand, wide organizations are generally more “loosely coupled”. In the loosely coupled
organization, like a franchise operation, people work for the same organization but may be disconnected
daily. They may come together for training, but generally, there are separate cultures for each of the
organizations.
Nursing Turnover:
Nursing turnover is one of the biggest issues impacting profitability and performance in healthcare
organizations. Healthcare organizations require a highly trained, fully engaged, and stable workforce. Losing
critical employees impacts healthcare in many ways including a) Decreased quality of patient care, b) Loss of
patience, c) Increased accident and absenteeism rates, and d) Increase staffing costs.
It could be argued that “employees quit managers, not businesses.” Depending on the organizational type, it
may be easier for some nurses to quit. Here are a few factors that drive turnover in nursing:
• Feeling disrespected in the workplace
• Poor communication among team members
• Lack of trust
• Ineffective collaboration with others
Submission Instructions:
Address the following components for the assignment submission:
1. Considering the additional information related to organizational structure, discuss the organizational
structure that best describes the type(s) of organization(s) you work for now or in the past.
2. Provide an explanation with examples on how the organizational structure aligned with the
organizational leadership strategy.
3. Reflecting on nursing turnover, discuss if your selected organizational structure and leadership style
is a good fit to prevent nursing turnover. Provide at least one scholarly source within five (5) years to
support your discussion.
4. Identify and discuss an additional driver (outside of the four described above) from your personal
work experience or from the literature.
5. As a healthcare leader, what recommendations would you make to alleviate or minimize the impact
the additional driver you selected?
6. Provide a brief descriiption of the type of organizational structure you would prefer to work and
explain why.
Total Minimum Page Requirement: Two to three pages not including the title and reference page

HR Infrastructure that support global business initiatives

Prepare a paper that addresses the following themes:

Analyze the components of HR infrastructure that support global business initiatives; what is HR’s role and impact as a subject matter expert and credible business partner. (Possible topics include global HR guiding principles, HR practices, HR function roles, and organizational outcomes).

Your assignment should include 1,200 to 1,300 words, not including the cover and reference pages.

A References Page should be included with a minimum of three sources: the textbook and two outside sources.

Turnitin:

This assignment must be submitted to “Turnitin.” The “Turnitin” tool will compare the content of your assignment to multiple internal and external sources to identify duplication and high levels of similarity. If the turnitin percentage is above 30%, this may indicate the following: no APA in-text citations to match up with sources, incorrect APA format, too many APA in-text citations, shear plagiarism which means, too much information taken from external sources and no information in your own words. The acceptable “Turnitin” result is 30% and below. If your “Turnitin” result is above the acceptable result, you will receive feedback that can be incorporated into the next written assignment.

APA Writing Style:

Students are required to follow the APA Writing Style for all written assignments. At a minimum, include the following:

Separate Cover Page
Separate Reference Page – the sources should be in alphabetical order by the last names of the authors.
Double spacing
Times New Roman, 12 Font Size
Respond to questions by including the questions and responding to the questions in essay format.
First sentence of each paragraph is indented by five spaces
Include headings and subheadings

The written assignment essentially addresses three areas: identification of pertinent issues that HR management must address, an analysis and evaluation of the literature supporting the issues, and a proposed course of action and set of recommendations to address the issues identified.

Problem Identification:

In this section, you provide a sharply focused diagnosis of the issues and key challenges related to the topic of human resources management. Begin each paper with a problem statement, an overview identifying the key issues that confront HR managers related to this topic.

Analysis and Evaluation:

Review the related challenges as identified in the text. Review outside resources, conduct internet searches, and review content in the on-line library data base, and Books 24/7.

Examine the primary factors underlying an organization’s strategic successes and failures and how HR can support, prevent or overcome the challenges.

Decide what resource and competencies a firm may need to overcome the challenge and make it strengths. In this section, you must offer analysis with evidence from the literature with references and supporting statement to present the information clearly, and use the language for HR strategic concepts and analytical tools that are discussed in the textbook.

Recommendations:

The recommendations and plan of action should address all of the problems/issues you identified and analyzed. State how the recommendations will solve the problems you identified. Provide new and authentic recommendations, not a re-statement of material in the assignment.
