Interview Anthro

I‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌nterview assignment directions Assignment: Interview assignment: 1.) choose someone to interview about a specific topic (your choice), set up the interview, and then complete the actual interview. 2.) 2.) Complete a 2000–2500-word interview analysis using information from the interview Use the sample interview and interview description (the see below) as guidelines for assignment. Make sure you include DIRECT QUOTES in your interview analysis (at least one direct quote per body paragraph). The interview is one of the major field methods anthropologists use to gather information. For this assignment you will be expected to pick someone to interview. This person is called an informant and their role is to give you insight into one aspect of their life or culture. For example, you might interview a police officer to find out why he chose that profession, or a couple who chose to adopt a child after having one of their own. The possibilities are endless, but to successfully complete this assignment you must pick an informant and then a concept that is meaningful to you and your informant. Obviously, you would not interview your grandmother about surfing if she had never surfed before! After picking your informant and the concept, you should consider questions you want to ask your informant. The interview is typically done in an open format, in that the informant leads the discussion, but you do need to have some questions to keep your informant focused on your topic or you have completed the actual interview, you will need to write your interview analysis. The analysis is written as an essay and should be about 2000 words. The essay should be divided into four “sections”. The first section or paragraph is where you introduce your concept. This is very important for, without a clear concept, the reader (in this case your professor) will have no idea‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ what your essay is about. So, if you are writing about adoption, your first paragraph will introduce the concept of adoption and what you are trying to find out about adoption from your informant. Your next paragraph or section is where you explain who your informant is and how they can provide insight into your concept. In this paragraph you can tell the reader about the informant’s age, sex, education, religion… whatever you think helps the reader to better understand who your informant paragraphs or sections to follow are the “meat” of the paper. These paragraphs rely on direct quotes from your informant and your effort at encouraging the reader to make sense of your concept in a meaningful way. In this section, you must include one direct quote from your informant per paragraph. Try to rely on meaningful quotes that are not sentences long. The direct quotes are what make this an anthropological assignment and are critical to earning a good grade on the interview. Without them, you are speaking for your informant and rewriting their words from your perspective. After you have presented a quote, you should interpret the quote in terms of your concept. If you are writing about surfing and how surfers are possessive about their beaches, you need to pick quotes that support that possessiveness. That should be followed by your rationale for picking the quote to support your concept. This part of your paper varies in length, but five or six good quotes should create the necessary five or six paragraphs to clarify your concept. For many students, it is very difficult to stick to one concept. If you choose only those quotes that support your concept you should succeed in staying with your theme. The final paragraph or section is the conclusion. Here, you summarize your key points and possibly present one final convincing quote. DO NOT introduce new ideas or new t‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌hemes in this

What is globalization? When did it begin? How has it changed over time?

C‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌hoose two of the four prompts below to respond to in your midterm exam. In your response, clearly indicate which prompts you are responding to. Your responses should be a combined length of 3-5 pages. You are encouraged to argue in your own voice and to express your own views, but you must always offer support for your claims and arguments. Be sure to include a bibliography at the end of your paper, and your citations should be consistent with a common format of your choosing (Chicago Style, MLA, APA). This exam is due Tuesday 3/22 by the end of the day (11:59 PM). You should submit your exam on Blackboard at the Assignments tab. Please submit your exam as a DOCX or PDF file. Questions (choose two): 1. What is globalization? When did it begin? How has it changed over time? (E.g., how was the Bretton Woods regime different than what came afterward?) Why has there been resistance to globalization? 2. What is the “Washington Consensus”? What kinds of policies did it recommend? How did the Washington Consensus spread to developing countries (such as in Latin America)? What were the results? ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ 3. Briefly explain why the Keynesian welfare state experienced a crisis in the 1970s. Define neoliberalism and discuss the neoliberal regime that emerged in the 1980s. How did neoliberal policies contribute to the rise of inequality and the 2008 Global Financial Crisis? 4. The US has undertaken various military and economic interventions in foreign countries in the post-Vietnam War period. Discuss at least two examples of US intervention and explain how/whether these interventions have been imperialist. (You may discuss interventions other than those covered in course material but be sure to use reliable sources for support.) Your exam will be evaluated according to three basic criteria: (a) effective engagement with and use of appropriate sources for support; (b) the clarity of your argument and a complete response to each part of the prompt; (c) and the clarity of your writing and proper use of terms and concepts related to the course. See the rubric on the next page for more details. PROMPT POSTED IN FILES AS WELL AS THE SOURCES NEEDED TO USE. BIBLIOGRAPHY MUST BE INCLUDED, EXCLUDED FROM PAGE C‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌OUNT.

Leonidas vs. Themistocles

This essay is to make the argument that Themistocles is the hero of the Greece-Persian war over Leonidas. My professor wants the classical argument style used. Here is a link to a short video that he had us watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAo03DMZVSw

Leadership DF 1, Response to Danai

According to M. George and Gareth R. Jones leadership is the exercise of influence by one member of a group or organization -the leader- over other members -the subordinates-to help the group achieve its goals (Bertocci, 2009). There are several leadership theories which have been approached by various scientists, either based on the traits of leaders, on their behaviours or on the situations.

I will use as an example the AXA Insurance company, which has a human-centered profile giving special importance to the management of its human resources. It promotes a behavioral leadership style believing that production and people are equally important factors for the effectiveness of an organization. Accepting that the leadership style is affected by various factors such as the culture of the company, the characteristics of the leader and employees’ personality, needs, motivations, and expertise, it seeks to transfuse a leading profile to the managers by training and developing them continually.

According to the behavioral theory “rather than the personality characteristics of the leader, the effectiveness of a leader is related to how the leader behaves or what he/she does”. Also, “leader behaviour is not innate but can be learned afterwards” (Uslu, 2019).

Among several studies, in 1985, Blake and Mouton created a managerial grid that illustrated five leadership styles, both concern for people and production/task. The ideal is the 9.9 style (team management), in which both productivity and people are given equal attention. The condition is that employees are active in comprehending the organization’s mission and determining production needs. Employees’ requirements and production needs coincide when they are committed to and invested in the organization’s success. This fosters a trusting and respectful team environment, which means high contentment and motivation, as well as high performance (Khan et al., 2015).

Moreover, Yukl (1989) introduced three different leadership styles, the democratic, the autocratic and the Laissez faire. The employees working with democratic leaders showed a high level of contentment, innovation, and motivation. They work with tremendous excitement and energy regardless of whether the leader was there or not, and they maintain better relationships with him concerning the productivity (Khan et al., 2016).

Referring to the relevant literature I found that there are conflicting views on the importance of the leadership regardless of its style. Some academics argue that its effects are minimal compared with historical, organizational, and environmental forces. Others suggest that attributing organizational outcomes to individual leaders is a romantic oversimplification. Similarly, complexity theorists maintain that organizational performance cannot be attributed to individual leaders because performance is an emergent phenomenon involving complex, nonlinear interactions among multiple variables in a dynamic system open to outside influences (Kaiser et al., 2008).

So, I am concerned to what extent the application of leadership contributes to the performance of the organizations in relation to external factors such as economic, political, environmental, etc., what is your opinion on this?

Write an argumentative historical essay related to a technological artifact.

For the final essay, you will write a scholarly historical essay that explores a specific social, political or cultural dynamic related to a technological artifact of your choice. This is not a descriiptive history of the artifact, but an effort at making sense of a particular analytical problem connected to that technology (many of the articles we read this semester are good models). The study should stem from a careful analysis of one or more primary sources related to the chosen artifact and engage with arguments developed by two or more secondary (scholarly) sources. The length should be up to 2,500 words, not including the bibliography.

To put it succinctly, your essay should do the following: Carefully analyze one or more primary sources to develop an argument that engages with at least two other scholars’ arguments. You should present the gist of your argument early in the essay in the form of an intriguing thesis that catches the reader’s attention. The rest of the essay explains and supports that thesis by interpreting the primary sources and arguing with the secondary sources.

Ethics and Public Policy in Healthcare Delivery

P‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌rovision 9 of the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses requires that nurses integrate the principles of social justice into the nursing profession and health policy. This weeks readings provide insight into some of the vulnerable populations that nurses need to be a voice for. 1. Advocating for vulnerable populations should be on the agenda of all professional nursing organizations. Select a professional organization that you belong to and review their policy agendas and report on your findings. (If you do not belong to a professional nursing organization, select one that is of interest to your role or area of specialty). Does the language used promote nursing values around social justice and advocating for vulnerable populations? Be specific in your response. Does the organization demonstrate active involvement designed to influence leaders, legislators, governmental agencies, no‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌n-governmental organizations and international bodies related to health affairs intended to address social justice? Be specific Social justice extends beyond human health to encompass the well-being of the natural world. Focusing within your state of residence, provide an example of an environmental issue that negatively impacts the determinants of health (SDOH). If you need a refresher of SDOH visit this site: 2. Locate and summarize a current legislative initiative (local, state, or national) intended to improve the lives of a vulnerable population. Be sure to identify the population of interest and what the bill or policy intends to accomplish. LINK:

Evidence Based Practice Research w2

I‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌n a document of between 700 and 1100 words (approximately 3 to 4 pages), identify an evidence-based problem from a clinical setting (such as long-term care, home care, or community agency). Develop a well-written clinical question using the PIO (P = Population, I = Implementation, O = Outcome) method. This question will help to guide your search for the evidence involved in your EBP or QI project proposal. A note about the question: Learners sometimes have problems writing an EBP/QI question but write a research question instead. An EBP/QI question should never use the words how or why. Those terms belong in a research question. Your question should acknowledge evidence already exists. So instead of asking: • How does the use of kangaroo care help increase infant weight gain? (a research question) You will ask: • Will nurses who attend a class on the practice ch‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ange of using kangaroo care score higher on a post-class posttest than on a pre-test given before the class? In your assignment, be sure to include the following: • An introduction to the problem, including your personal connection to this problem and a brief summary of relevant background information • Information about the population who will be affected by the resulting project • Relationship of one of the theoretical or conceptual models to the study of this problem • A well-written PIO/PICOT/PICO question, including your rationale for why this is an EBP or QI question and not a research question • An assessment of the feasibility of the change you’re proposing • Identification of the stakeholders involved in the practice change or quality improvement (for example, the agency from whom you would need permission to complete the project) **Refere‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌nce in document**
