1. The Lazer Company has a contract to produce a part for Boeing Corporation that must have an average diameter of 6 inches and a standard deviation of 0.10 inch. The Lazer Company has developed a process that will meet the specifications with respect to the standard deviation, but it is still trying to meet the mean specifications. A test run (considered a random sample) of parts was produced, and the company wishes to determine whether this latest process that produced the sample will produce parts meeting the requirement of an average diameter equal to 6 inches.
Use Excel to:
Construct the appropriate null and alternative hypotheses with correct parameters.
Develop the decision rule assuming that the sample size is 200 parts and the significance level is 0.01.
In a Word document:
Recommend what the Lazer Company should conclude if the sample mean diameter for the 200 parts is 6.03 inches.
Submit your recommendations in a Word document and attach your Excel file.
2. Terry Downes owns a commercial cleaning company. He has conducted a survey of customers to determine how satisfied they are with the work performed. He devised a 100-point rating scale—with 0 being poor and 100 being excellent service, selected a random sample of 14 customers, and asked them to rate the service. He also recorded the number of worker hours spent in the customer’s facility. These are in the file named Downes.
Use Excel to complete the following:
Develop a scatter plot showing the variables, rate of service and worker hours, with the y variable on the vertical axis and the x variable on the horizontal axis, and indicating the type of relationship.
Develop a linear regression model to explain the variation in the service rating.
Use Word to complete the following:
Describe the model, showing the results of the pertinent hypothesis tests, using a significance level of 0.10.
Submit your work in a Word document and attach your Excel file.

Introduction: Prepare an Excel spreadsheet, using this template, in which you analyze key elements of the company’s financial results from their last two full fiscal years along with headcount changes. In this, you will evaluate and explain the key changes in the company’s most recent annual Income Statements and Balance Sheets over the past two years and document company employee headcount changes. Please note that most of these figures will be in the billions or, possibly, millions. All numbers should be expressed as complete numbers; for our companies, this is likely in billions and the statements will report in millions; read more about rounding. Content Expected: 1) Income Statement: A. Present the following figures, in spreadsheet format, for the most recent two years: revenue, expenses, and net profit. Use Excel calculations to calculate the percent change year over year for each figure. B. In a few sentences, evaluate and explain the key changes in the company’s most recent annual Income Statement over the past two years, focusing on changes in the Profit section. 2) Balance Sheet: A. Present the following figures, in spreadsheet format, for the most recent two years: total assets, total liabilities, and stockholder’s equity. Use Excel calculations to calculate the percent change year over year for each figure. B. In a few sentences, evaluate and explain the key changes in the company’s most recent annual Balance Sheet over the past two years, focusing on change in the Equity section. 3) Headcount: A. Present the following figures, in spreadsheet format, for the most recent two years: total headcount and US headcount. Use Excel calculations to calculate the percent change year over year for each figure. B. In a few sentences, evaluate and explain why these figures are changing based on company research and your understanding of the overall state of the firm. Were there internal or external forces driving this change? 4) Feedback: How was your experience in preparing and researching the company you choose for this assignment? Did you find the information provided above useful? What resources did you find most helpful? What areas did you struggle with?

grounded.
The focal literature on which the study will be concentrating/
examining.
The gap the student has identified in the literature.
Why the gap is important (in terms of knowledge development around
it)?

A clear statement of one clear research question (not more) that will
address this gap.
What contribution that answering that gap will make to the
literature/conceptualisation/field/practice?
Main Body
(Approx 1500
words)
This section will discuss (all points to be underpinned by extensive
contemporary sources and refences (from primarily the last five
years).
The overall research methodology for your thesis including:
The overall research methodological paradigm that the research will
employ and why this is being employed (e.g. inductive, deductive,
positivism, interpretivism etc)
An elaboration of the literature surrounding this paradigm and a
critical analysis of its strengths and weakness.
An elaboration of why other paradigms have not been selected/are not
suitable for/employed in the study?
This section will contain a discussion of epistemology, ontology and
axiology and there relevance to the chosen research methodology.
The research methods employed with the research methodology
including:
An elaboration of the chosen methods and a critical analysis of their
strengths and weaknesses for your thesis.

The approach to data analysis:
What techniques and approaches will you be using to analyse your
data? Why – provided reasons and explanations (e.g. thematic
analysis, discourse analysis, correlation etc.)
The approach to writing up:
What techniques and approaches will you be using to analyse your
data? Why? – provided reasons and explanations (e.g. case study,
storytelling/narrative, statistical presentation, critical incident
approach etc)

respondents and yourself.
Conclusion
(Approx 250 words)

Write an essay describing what you believe constitutes “successful aging”.
1. Write an essay describing what you believe constitutes “successful aging”. You can discuss one or more of the models discussed in class or create your own. Cite any sources used other than your own thoughts and observations.
2. You are working as the activity director in a long-term care facility. A new resident, Cora Petersen, has recently moved into the facility. You notice that she comes into the activity center 2-3 times a week, but she does not engage in activities. When you ask her if she wants to participate, she declines politely telling you “no” as she is waiting for one of her family members to come and take her back home. During the weekly staff meeting, you inform your team members of your observation and the Social Worker tells you that her children have sold her home of over 50 years to help pay for her care at the nursing home. The children have not told Cora they have done this though.A couple of weeks pass and Cora continues to come into the Activity Center but still does not engage in any of the activities. You notice she frequently touches the closed piano and she seems increasingly anxious.
2. Using the scenario above, apply one of the following models of mental health, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, stress and coping, or family systems model. Write a 2-4 paragraph essay describing how you would assess the situation, what questions would you ask Cora? What questions would you ask of others? What are the important factors? Describe strategies you would use to assist Cora. Provide sufficient detail in your response that demonstrates your understanding of the chosen model. It is acceptable to add additional detail to the scenario as long as you indicate how the additional information was obtained. Be sure to identify the model you are using and cite any resources you use.
3. Write an essay describing how your own attitudes about aging and/or mental health have changed since the start of the semester.
4. You are the director of a senior center in your community and you want to provide a program for older adults experiencing a serious mental health disorder in your community. Choose one of the 5 evidenced-based practices presented in the Psychosocial Interventions for Older Adults with Serious Mental Illness resource guide that you want to implement in your community. Discuss the reasons why you chose the one you did and identify some of the challenges you may have to overcome to offer the program at your center. (Following chapter 3 in the guide will help you with this response.)
