Write a paper analyzing, interpreting, and/or reflecting about their chosen sound object in dialogue with the two readings.

What is this? Students will select a sound object that intrigues them and offers them an opportunity to reflect about course concepts and readings. They will select two course readings to engage with more closely, and then write a paper analyzing, interpreting, and/or reflecting about their chosen sound object in dialogue with the two readings.
Key parameters: The paper should be 700-800-words. It should make an argument, engage closely with the chosen readings and the sound object; use vivid, specific details; and demonstrate good editing and citation. Students are welcome to be self-reflective and creative with this assignment—and are encouraged to consult with the teaching team about their ideas.
