Last, provide at least three examples or quotes from your document that help you understand the perspective of the person(s) who produced it. Describe the problem. How do you think math and/or science could be used to address the problem?
Suppose you wake up one morning and suddenly know everything there is to know about math and science. If you could use that math and/or science to solve a world problem, what problem would you solve? Describe the problem. How do you think math and/or science could be used to address the problem?
STEM ESSAY: I Choose Science
Hi my name is Chloe Chandler, one day I woke up, and I just knew everything that I needed to know about science. I thought to myself how could I use science to solve any world problem of choice? How could I use science to cure diseases, viruses or microorganism that causes an illness. I would use science to solve life threaten problems. I would use scientific experiments like clinical trials to address our current most life threaten issue.
In the fall of 2019 there was a mysterious virus leaking our land, zero scientist studied this mystery virus because no one not even the Center for Disease Control hand a clue. All of a sudden here comes COVID -19 or coronavirus, it’s cause SARS-CoV-2 this mysterious virus jumped into humans at an uncontrolled rate. Still in 2019 scientist were clueless it wasn’t until March 2020 it had it’s name. During this time in person schooling ended for me but life itself ended for many people all over the world. At least I could be educated from home but some wouldn’t live to see another day. By the end of March 2020 COVID-19 had spread to more than 170 countries, spread to over 750,000 humans it also sicken animals the amount has not yet been studied to my knowledge. I watched the news daily while trying to still do well in my studies. While trying to do well in science and math, numbers rapidly increase on my television screen. The mayor daily briefing were about the math in which covid was doing it’s damage. Science struggled daily to bring COVID under control. Scientist struggled they remained puzzled daily.
Science changed the world during the pandemic. Science changed and while trying to fix the world the pandemic and science changed me. Covid affected the would school ended, people lost their jobs, my dad had to work from home, my mom is the only one that ran out into the world of the unknown during the pandemic. My mom showed my if she can challenge the world during this time so can I. My mom serviced the make shift hospital at the Jacob Javits Center with the U.S. Army. I knew science lived in me because it’s around me daily. I couldn’t help but to understand and student what I can understand when it comes to science. My topics in school assures me, I know form this point on I have major in per-med to service my world that suffers and needs science. My world needs me to study to understand viruses, microorganisms and anything else that causes sickness. I have to do it for my sister, while my mom was out healing the world as a nurse she was pregnant with my little sister Willow. My sister Willow passed away while my mom was 33 weeks pregnant. My sister passed away because science failed my mom. Studies have shown African American women die the most during child birth or even the baby or both. In my case my mom fell really sick and my little sister passed. Was it because of oviduct? Did my mom fall sick because of science? I want to find a reason why. I want to do case studies, I want to to study per-med so I can contribute to world illnesses. I want to live science I am science and science is me. I’ve lost so many family members during the pandemic, teachers I know have passed, my art teacher husband passed, my baby sister passed, my uncle passed, my great aunt passed, a principle within my school network passed my mom almost passed. I have to make science work when I attend college and med school. I often watch medical shows my favorite is “Gray’s Antony” I’ve learned so much form that show. I have a few other favorites which I watch like Dr. Pimple Popper and my 1000 pound life, Plastic surgery shows and more. I love science and the thought of healing people.
I want to be part of the problems solved project, I’m pro choice and believe people should have their own opinion and as a healthcare provider in my future or a scientist I respect that. I do believe the mask mandates helped. I believe that people that partipaed in covid trials did the world a great justices. vaccine possibly decreased that chance of possible life threaten changes
Thank you for reviewing my essay, answer to question two. Science can be used to solve a lot of the world’s problems, and it can also help save lives. Thank you, stay safe, stay healthy.
