Using the advice from the chapters in the book (Chapters 1-4 and 17), create a two-paragraph narrative essay about an experience you remember about reading, writing, or literature Remember that a quality narrative will both entertain and include a message. I’ve posted an example for you under this module.
Paragraph count: You will be expected to two well-developed paragraphs.
Sentence count: Your paragraphs should have 8 – 12 sentences each.
Title: Begin your essay with a catchy and interesting title that makes me want to read your writing.
Sentence / punctuation variety: Demonstrate sentence and punctuation variety. Make sure that your paragraphs flow together and that you have good transitions.
Metaphors / similes / dialogue: Using figurative language or dialogue can really add pizzazz to your writing! While this is optional, I suggest you take advantage of this colorful language.
Key advice: Include adequate specific detail and organize your writing around a solid main idea and strong topic sentences. DO NOT hand in a rough draft; do not forget to review your paper essay before submitting a final essay.
Formatting: Use MLA formatting only. (Use the “sample essays” at OWL / Purdue or in the textbook).

1. Research: Identify and research the one childhood disease/disorder that results in developmental delay. Your research should include the incidence of the disease/disorder, the possible cause of the disease/disorder, 2-3 symptoms of the disease/disorder that result in eating/nutrition problems, 2-3 specific developmental delays, (use your textbook to identify normal developmental milestones related to eating and delayed developmental abilities related to eating. You are the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization that provides after-school programming for adolescent girls. The agency began as part of the Catholic Church but is now an independent 501(c)3 organization. You supervise staff who provide academic enrichment, life skills training, career preparation, and recreational opportunities to more than 400 mostly low-income teens annually. Your staff has recently become concerned about rising rates of teenage sexual activity among your participants—several girls have become pregnant, and many more talk openly about unsafe sexual practices.
