Explain the different methods of economic forecasting including expert opinion, opinion polls, surveys, economic indicators, economic projections, and econometric models.
Analyze how each forecasting method may be incorporated into the managerial decision-making process in the healthcare industry.
Action Items
Review this module’s readings and media.
Compose a two- to five-page paper in which you:
Develop a specific forecasting model from those that are included in Chapter 5 in Keat et al. (2013).
Apply the forecasting model that you have chosen to a specific situation within a healthcare company. It’s important that you apply the forecasting procedure that you chose to a healthcare operation. Please do not just summarize the various models from the textbook. You may want to draw on your own experience working in a healthcare organization—a hospital, clinic, or another healthcare facility. You could also look at Yahoo! Finance – Healthcare Industry
(Links to an external site.)
to find a company to analyze. Be specific in the variables that you include in your forecasting model.
Provide an analysis of how the forecasting model you chose would impact the managerial decision-making process at the healthcare company:
Explain how the forecasting model would help or hinder the decision-maker of the healthcare company. Be specific when identifying the variables in your forecasting model.
Cite any specific data you can find.
Identify how the industry data in your forecast adds relevant information about projecting trends in the healthcare industry.
Cite a minimum of three scholarly resources.
Format your paper according to the standards found on Purdue Online Writing Lab: APA Formatting and Style Guide
(Links to an external site.)
.
Submit your work by the due date indicated.

Complete
your Research Project 2 in a Word document, APA formatted, and then submit it
in the Assignment section of the classroom by midnight, EST, Day 7. The
instructions concerning this assignment as well as the grading rubric are
reproduced below. In 2009 the American auto industry was in a dire economic
state. Chrysler was in Chapter 11, GM was on the brink of bankruptcy, and
Ford’s future was at best uncertain. The demise of the U.S. auto industry would
have a devastating impact on our national economy and specifically the
economies of Michigan and Ohio. Economists occasionally use Porter’s five
forces framework when making a qualitative evaluation of a firm’s strategic
position. According to Porter, his model should be used at the industry level,
defined as a marketplace in which similar or closely related products or
services are marketed. This research paper requires the application of Porter’s
Five Forces Model to the auto industry.
Porter’s
analytical framework consists of those forces that affect a producer’s ability
to serve its customers and make a profit. A change in any of these five forces
requires a re-assessment of the marketplace. The five forces include:
1) The
threat of substitute products: The existence of close substitute products (i.e.,
high elasticity of demand) increases the propensity of customers to switch to
alternatives in response to price increases.
2) The
threat of the entry of new competitors: Unless there are significant barriers
to entry, profitable markets that yield high returns will attract firms (i.e.,
perfect competition), effectively decreasing profitability.
3) The
intensity of competitive rivalry: As in the case of oligopoly markets, rivals
may choose to compete aggressively, non-aggressively or in non-price dimensions.
4) The
bargaining power of customers: The ability of customers to put the firm under
pressure due to availability of existing substitute products, buyer price
sensitivity, uniqueness of the products, etc.
5) The
bargaining power of suppliers: The cost of factors of production (e.g. labor,
raw materials, components, and services such as expertise) provided by
suppliers can have a significant impact on a company’s profitability. As such
suppliers may refuse to work with the firm or charge excessively high prices
for unique resources.

Was the American Revolution more of 1) an attempt by New England smugglers to defend their illegal enterprises 2) an anti-monarchy movement and defense of principals such as no taxation without representation 3) a reaction to an economic downturn during the 1760s and 1770s or 4) an attempt to protect and preserve slavery?

Answer the questions below in essay form, with a clear introduction, body and
conclusion. Do not exceed 1400 words and only use readings posted on Moodle. No
outside sources are permitted. This is not a research paper, so you may cite the readings
in your text by placing the author’s last name and page number in parentheses like this:
(Wood, 91). Lastly, include a Chicago Manual of Style bibliography (which does not
count toward the word limit) at the end of your work.
