In at least 3 pages (typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point, one inch margins), write your reaction to the material, citing at least 3 supporting quotes from the book, and at least 3 supporting quotes from the documentary. What thoughts occurred to you as you read the book and viewed the episode? Did the material make you think of anything from your own life? In what way does it connect to the textbook content? This assignment is creative, analytical and evaluative. Do not write a book report or a summary of the book. Feel free to email me with questions about the content or format prior to writing paper.
Additionally, within the introductory paragraphs of your reaction paper, answer the following questions about the material:
Of what was Socrates accused and why?
How did he defend himself?
How did he react to the verdict and what was his demeanor as it was carried out?
Please FORMAT your paper using these precise guidelines. Your paper must be:
at least 3 pages in length
typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, using the 12-point Times New Roman font
attached as either a Microsoft Word document (.docx file) or a PDF file
What is/are Stewart’s main argument(s) in this speech? Use at least one (1) example from her speech to support your claims.
Background:
In 1831, Maria W. Stewart, a black domestic servant from Connecticut, became the first known American woman to publicly speak before mixed audiences of men and women, white and black, about abolition and women’s rights. Around the age of 26 or 27, Stewart fell under the guidance of white abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison, who published several essays of hers in his abolitionist newspaper, The Liberator. The excerpt below is from her “Why Sit Ye Here and Die?” speech, given on September 21, 1832 in Boston. In this speech (which earned her a significant amount of criticism), she discussed the treatment of free African American women in the North and condemned the attitudes that denied black women education and prohibited their occupational advancement.
Assignment:
Read the excerpt of Maria W. Stewart’s 1832 speech “Why Sit Ye Here and Die?” Download “Why Sit Ye Here and Die?”Then, in a minimum of two (2) well-developed paragraphs, address the following analysis questions:
1. What is/are Stewart’s main argument(s) in this speech? Use at least one (1) example from her speech to support your claims.
2. What things did Stewart say in this speech that could have been seen as controversial at the time (early 19th century)? To put another way, can you see anything in this speech that might explain the criticism she received? Be sure to use examples from the speech to support your claims.
Citations:
Stewart’s rhetorical style was similar to evangelical preaching, so some of her speech can be challenging to read. When addressing the above analysis questions, I’d prefer you paraphrase Stewart whenever possible – put her ideas into your words. That said, paraphrases will still need an in-text citation. For this assignment, your citation should look like this:
(Stewart, page #)
I do not need a work cited page.
Write a paper on Flawed Immigration & refugee detention policy in Canada
Write a paper on Flawed Immigration & refugee detention policy in CanadaFormat: Essay (introduction, main body that develops the argument and conclusion)
Length: 2000- 3000words/8-12 pages (eg. 150-200wd Intro, 1600-2200wd Body, 150-250wd.Conc.)
Font size and spacing: 12pt font, double spaced with standard margins
Title page: Not required
Citations: APA style
Sources: 5-10 credible, current relevant [See: Purdue page on ‘Evaluating Sources: General Guidelines’]
Reminders:
1. Your introduction ought to present your informed point of view on the topic, or issue to be explored in the essay. Provide the reader with the necessary information to understand your paper (i.e. identify important connections, explain key terms, etc.), and indicate the order in which your paper will proceed. This will help the reader know what to expect. Tip: The introduction is where you set the tone and parameters of your paper. Don’t waste the opportunity to make a good first impression! Communicate clearly, and precisely so that your reader knows what to expect, and why they should keep reading.
2. This is an analytical paper, not a descriptive one (i.e. not just a restatement of information found as part of your research). Use your sources and the information that you found in service of developing and defending your informed point of view. Ask yourself: how has this challenged, or helped me develop my point of view? Be sure that you can account for the material that you have included. Avoid including material arbitrarily (i.e. random references, or quotes that are not explained or discussed in relation to the point of view you are putting forward in your paper). This will only create confusion and open your essay to greater scrutiny.
3. Be sure that you are always clear and precise. The reader should never be confused about what you mean, where you are getting information from, or how things connect. It is your job to ensure you are communicating effectively. Take time to review and edit carefully.

– write a paragraph with my choice and make sure everything the proffesor asked is answered.
question:
A friend asks you to help her with a project for school. You are not taking the same class, so it in no way helps you with anything you are doing. You, in fact, do not want to do the project, but because she is your friend, you agree to help her.
On the day you are scheduled to work on the project together, you get a call from another friend. He bought two tickets to the movie you have been waiting weeks to see. The problem? Since you were kids, you have always gone to see these special movies together at the first showing, and, the movie begins right when you are scheduled to help your friend do her project. To make matters worse, you also know this is the last opportunity to get the project done in time for her class.
Do you help your friend or do you go see your movie? Write what choice you would make, then explain your reasoning.

Compare and Contrast essay assignment requires you to make a choice: do you want to compare two subjects (show how they are similar) or contrast them (show how they are different)?
Compare and Contrast: Your essay must have a well-defined central idea, clearly and directly address a specific audience, be coherently developed, and follow the conventions of Standard English Grammar. See in supplemental contents on Blackboard on the Compare and Contrast, for specific assistance.
Compare and Contrast essay assignment requires you to make a choice: do you want to compare two subjects (show how they are similar) or contrast them (show how they are different)? It is important to remember that for a basic comparison/contrast assignment, although you will consider both the similarities and differences among subjects as you gather your ideas, your essay itself will discuss either the subjects’ similarities or their differences. You can write about any two subjects you want; just make sure you make an overall point about them. Your essay should ultimately evaluate how the subjects are alike or different, offering some kind of surprising insight about them or helping readers make a choice between the two. Whatever the case, just make sure that your essay makes an intriguing point; don’t just compare two things that are obviously similar or contrast two items that are obviously completely different.
Basic Assignment Requirements:
The essay must meet the following formatting requirements:
· Must be in MLA Document Format
o Have 1 inch top, bottom, right and left margins; o Times New Roman 12 font;
o Running header with last name and page number; o MLA compliant title block on first page;
o All content double spaced.
The essay must meet the following content and mechanical requirements:
· Be at least 1,000 words in length;
· Offer a clear and consistent analysis of the topic that outlines the basic similarities and
differences of the things under discussion;
· Be organized logically with clear topic sentences that make cogent claims of similarity
and difference;
· Provide adequate levels of detail and description to support the analysis;
· Contain a clear introduction, body, and conclusion that establishes the importance of the
topic to the audience;
· Must contain none of the following major mechanical errors:
o Run-on sentences
o Fragments
o Tense shifts
o Possession errors
o Capitalization errors
o Subject-verb agreement errors
· Must conform to Standard English Grammar requirements for proofreading, usage, and spelling.
