Writing Your Opinion Paper
Write your opinion paper, incorporating any feedback and direction from your teacher. Your research paper should have an introduction, body, and conclusion. Typically, you would have one paragraph for each for your introduction and conclusion. The body of your research paper can have multiple paragraphs. The focus of the body of your paper should be your thesis (i.e. opinion) and three main points supporting this thesis.
Include any relevant data you obtained from your research to support your main ideas. Ensure your data is obtained from a credible source.
Use in-text citations to reference any information you wish to present that is not your own original idea, such as data and theories or opinions of others.
Submit a reference list that includes all the sources you used in your research paper. Ensure that both your in-text citations and reference list are completed according to APA style.

Your submission should include the following:

Introduction
The introduction paragraph introduces to the reader your opinion and your supporting arguments. It should contain five sentences, all helping to explain your topic.
Sentence 1: Explain your opinion about your topic.
Sentence 2-4: State your first, second, and third reasons or arguments to support your opinion.
Sentence 5: Restate your opinion and three arguments using different words.
Body Paragraphs
Body paragraphs provides proof or examples to support your arguments. Depending on the topic of your opinion paper, you may need to research credible sources to find data supporting your arguments. All three paragraphs follow the same five sentence structure.
Sentence 1: Introduce one of your three arguments.
Sentence 2-4: Provide your three pieces of evidence/examples to support your argument.
Sentence 5: Restate your argument and three pieces of evidence using different words.
Concluding Paragraph
The concluding paragraph is much like the introduction. It summarizes your opinion and supporting arguments. It does not have to be five sentences in length, but it must include the following.
Restate your opinion using different words.
Restate your three main arguments or reasons using different words from what you used earlier in the essay.
Your last sentence should be a powerful ending, or call to action, to inspire your reader to believe in your writing.

Read the case below from Chapter 10 in your textbook:
Background
The setting is an 82-bed hospital located in a small city. One day an employee of the maintenance department asked the supervisor, George Mann, for an hour or two off to take care of some personal business. Mann agreed, and he asked the employee to stop at the garden equipment dealership and buy several small lawnmower parts that the department required. While transacting business at a local bank, the employee was seen by Sally Carter, the supervisor of both human resources and payroll, who was in the bank on hospital business. Carter asked the employee what he was doing there and was told the visit was personal. On returning to the hospital, Sally Carter examined the employee’s time card. The employee had not punched out to indicate when he had left the hospital. Carter noted the time the employee returned, and after the normal working day she marked the card to indicate an absence of 2 hours on personal business. Carter advised the chief executive officer (CEO), Jane Arnold, of what she had done, citing a long-standing policy (in their dusty, and some would say infrequently used, policy manual) requiring an employee to punch out when leaving the premises on personal business. The CEO agreed with Sally Carter’s action. Carter advised Mann of the action and stated that the employee would not be paid for the 2 hours he was gone. Mann was angry. He said he had told the employee not to punch out because he had asked him to pick up some parts on his trip; however, he conceded that the employee’s personal business was probably the greater part of the trip. Carter replied that Mann had no business doing what he had done and that it was his—Mann’s—poor management that had caused the employee to suffer. The staff, parents, district and campus administration, and related service providers may all be involved in the decision making process regarding consequences for actions that may be related to the disability. There are procedural processes involved in determining the following: manifestation hearings, the need to conduct a functional behavioral assessment (FBA), and the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIP).
