I believe police are racist and use excessive force and policing in black and brown communities and lower income communitites, and I agree with Michelle Alexanders POV.

Discover how the atmosphere, service and food presentation of a restaurant is reflective of a specific culture.
Identify preconceived ideas about the foods of the specific culture and compare to the actual experience of consuming the foods.
Instructions:
Choose an ethnic restaurant of your choice. You are encouraged to choose a restaurant you have not previously visited. You must choose an ethnic restaurant that is independently owned and operated. Fast food and chain restaurants are not acceptable choices. NOTE: You are NOT required to make any purchases for this assignment. You can still complete the assignment based purely on observations alone.
Read the material in your text regarding the specific culture and two separate sources of information about the culture prior to visiting the restaurant. Your other sources can include the restaurant’s website and other review sites, such as, Yelp!
Visit the restaurant (or restaurant’s website) and choose foods that are representational of the culture (i.e. do not order a turkey club sandwich). It is helpful to visit the restaurants with others to allow for more food choices and opinions, but it is not required.
Write the restaurant review in a narrative format (this portion should be 2-3 pages). Read restaurant reviews in a local newspapers, magazines or Yelp! if you are uncertain of format. The review must contain the following information
Details of the restaurant you are reviewing.
Location, opening date, restaurant hours.
Description of the restaurant atmosphere.
Kid-friendly, bar available, noise level, artwork and décor, tables/booths, etc.
Description of the menu
What types of foods are offered? Is it extensive or only offers a few choices? What format is used?
Description of menu items ordered OR observed on the menu if no purchases were made (what would you have ordered?).
Detailed description of foods ordered/observed. If you have other people eating with you, get their feedback as well.
Authenticity
Was the food prepared and served by the restaurant consistent with the information in the text (or other resources) about foods from this ethnic group. Did it come from a specific region of the country? Do you feel the menu was adapted for the clientele?
Overall / Conclusion
What was your experience with the restaurant you visited? Would you ever go back? Why or why not? Would you recommend this restaurant to anyone?
Provide a list of at least 3 resources you used to prepare for your visit. This bibliography should be in proper format.
Grading Guidelines/Criteria:
Your Ethnic Restaurant Review should be 2-3 pages in length. Less or more than this will result in a lower grade. Be concise when putting your thoughts on paper.
Your review should be in narrative format with in-text citations, and should be double spaced using 12-point, Times New Roman font. A cover page or abstract is not necessary.
Your Ethnic Restaurant Review must also include a separate (from the 2-3 page narrative) a bibliography/works cited page with at least 3 references cited in APAformatting/guidelines (Bibme.orgis a great site to help you properly cite your sources. You plug in the information, and it will arrange it in the correct order for you).
The Ethnic Restaurant Review is worth 50 points.
