Bugs are an important food source in approximately 80 percent of the world’s cultures. Are they a consistent part of your diet? Why or why not? Why aren’t bugs a consistent part of the American diet? ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
The goal of this project is for you to create a personal budget and answer the driving question: What decisions do you have to make when creating a budget to meet some of your life’s goals.
Remember that economics is the study of scarcity and the choices that have to be made due to this. At this point in your life, you are facing many decisions about your future. You will be deciding how to allocate your resources of time and money. Due to scarcity, you must make important economic decisions about your current life and your future.
This project has five steps:
Step 1: Choose a career and research the salary you expect to receive when you begin.
Step 2: Calculate your income tax.
Step 3: Allocate your income for bills.
Step 4: Plan for savings and retirement.
Step 5: Reflect on your decisions.
The two summatively assessed grades are the budget document and the written reflection. Please see the rubric for clarification.

Step 1: Career and salary
Your first decision is what career you are going to choose. You need to conduct research and find what the starting salary is for your chosen career, in the place you will be living. There are many great sites that will help you with this information. Here are a few possible resources:

Step 2: Determining your income tax
In the United States, a tax is collected every year on your income. This takes place at the federal level. Most states, but not all, also collect income tax. Taxes are the revenue the government uses to pay for spending. The U.S. income tax is a progressive tax, which means the higher your income, the higher tax rate you will pay.

Step 4: Plan for savings and retirement
You need to begin planning for your retirement now. Even though that seems like a long time from now, it happens really quickly and surprises most people. You are going to calculate how much you need to put into retirement planning each month and year.

This is interactive, so you can play around with the numbers and read the short outcome reports to determine your monthly and annual required retirement savings.
Start off by plugging in the age you will be when you begin working. If you are planning to start your career right after high school graduation, use 18 as your current age. If you are going to college, you will probably be 22 when you start your career.
Use 70 as your age of retirement. Current retirement age is 67 and will most likely increase in your lifetime.
Plug in the income you determined you will make.
Use 0 for your current retirement savings.
Expected income increases are difficult to determine. For this project, plug in 0.
Income needed at retirement should be at least 75% of your current income.
Years of retirement should be 20. Let’s estimate you will live to be 90.
The number you are going to play with is the annual retirement savings. Plug in different percentages until you get an acceptable total. You will see this in the short report at the bottom of the calculator.
Using this information, calculate the monthly and yearly amounts you need to put into a retirement plan.
Savings: you also need to have a savings account which is separate from your retirement account. This savings is money you can access before you retire for emergencies, buying a new car or a house, etc. You should always pay yourself first, and a good “rule of thumb” is 10% of your salary. However, this is your budget, so you decide.
Fill in your retirement and savings information in the chart.
Total all of your expenditures (your bills plus your savings and retirement).
Subtract your total expenditures from your disposable income.
Indicate whether you are living within your budget. If you are overspending, you will need to adjust your expenditures. If you are underspending, you can always increase savings and retirement.
Step 5: Reflection
This is worth a possible 50 points. Be thoughtful in your response, and see the rubric.
Create a written response to the driving question: What decisions do you have to make when creating a budget to meet some of your life goals? The following questions should be considered in your response.
Are your expenses greater or less than your income?
What are your biggest expenses?
What expenses are you considering to cut down on to meet your budget goals? Why?
Do you have money left over for savings?
Is your budget for retirement on track to retire by age 70?
Discuss your resources in terms of scarcity.
What sorts of choices do you have to make, and what are the opportunity costs?
Be sure your answer is in essay format. The length should be approximately one page, 12 point font. Do not just list your answers to the above questions; include them in a well-written, flowing response with your thoughts clearly expressed. Sentence structure, spelling, and grammar are important.

Formatting
Please use the typical formatting for this assignment: 12 point Times New Roman or Calibri font, 1 inch margins, and double spacing.
Please present your work in paragraph format. Keep in mind that a paragraph is 4-8 sentences and should not be near one page long. If your paragraph begins reaching a page in length, break it up!
With this assignment, you will begin taking a look at and collecting your data. Please note that you have some parameters on data collection for the final project (you only need a few data points for this assignment):
At least 5 posts OR at most 25 posts and at least 3 comments OR at most 10 comments per post. We will cover this more later as well, but this means that you could have a sample of 15 posts with 8 comments each. You will just explain your sample decisions in the methods section of the final paper.

The company I selected is Samsung which has used CSR (India) as a competitive strategy to “ensure that interventions are need-based, community-oriented, sustainable and impact headline human development indicators favorably, while simultaneously being aligned with its core competencies as a leading global technology and innovations company” (Samsung).

Describe two factors that might put this company at risk by implementing this strategy.
One risk would be if the in-kind program contributions are for a company that does not have the same agenda regarding the environment and if the program does not fulfill its intended use.

Propose what the company might have done to counter these risks if these factors had actually been present.
If these factors had actually been present Samsung would cut ties with the company and engage a company whose environmental impact has been running for years and in line with Samsung policy. Also, they would ensure the program fulfilled its intended use by reviewing each policy before, during and after implementation of the policy.

Correlation is a statistical measure that calculates the strength of the relationship between the relative movements of the two variables. Causation is the act or process of causing something to happen or exist. In other words, causation means one event is 100% certain to cause something else. Another important concept is the confounding variable; a third variable. This is an outside influence that changes the effect of one variable’s relationship over another. This extraneous influence is used to influence the outcome of an experimental design. Simply, a confounding variable is an extra variable that has entered the equation but was not accounted for. For example: “as murder rates rise, so does the sale of ice cream”. This statement comes with three possibilities:
Possibility #1: Murders cause people to purchase ice cream.
Possibility #2: Purchasing ice cream causes people to murder or get murdered.
Possibility #3: A confounding variable (third variable) which causes the increase in BOTH ice cream sales AND murder rates. For example, the weather. When the weather is cold (winter conditions), people stay at home rather than go outside and murder people. Also, they probably don’t eat a lot of ice cream. When the weather is hot (summer conditions) people spend more time outside interacting with each other, and are more likely to get into the kinds of situations that lead to murder. Also, they are probably buying more ice cream! In this example, the weather is a variable that confounds the relationship between ice cream sales and murder rates.

Correlation is not causation, according to statistical analysis, because the two terms have different meanings in data gathering and analysis (CrashCourse, 2018). Correlation, for example, is a strategy that helps people to recognize a pattern between data. As a result, correlation merely depicts the size of the relationship between variables as well as how the two change over time (Gogtay & Thatte, 2017). Correlation, on the other hand, does not prove causation because causation goes a step further in the relationship. Individuals can use causality to determine whether variables are flowing in the same direction (Rohrer, 2018). As a result, causality confirms that variables are moving together in data analysis. For example, one could misinterpret the two by claiming that watching a certain movie causes more fatalities or that buying an air conditioner causes more births (Shipley, 2016). When people disregard the preceding statement, it can lead to misinterpretation of the information provided. Another variable, a confounding variable, could be to blame for the outcomes indicated. Confounding variables, for example, influence the outcome by revealing what causes high death and birth rates in each case.

Correlation and causation can easily work hand in hand in statistical analysis. In the statement “correlation is not causation”, this reflects that because of a carrying out of an action, does not entirely mean that it is the strength of the relationship of why it has happened. If ignored, it can illustrate some consequences. One example would be if you have no money you are more likely to get out and go shopping. Most people buy on credit today and pay it back later whenever they have the money. The consequence to this is that if you continue to pay before you get the money, one day you might not get that money to pay it back and therefore get in to some financial troubles. Another example is if you have low social media followers, you are going to try more and put more effort in to promoting yourself. If you have a good fanbase, then you don’t have to worry about this therefore resulting in some poor posts and responses from people who already have a good following. A third variable can be a cofounding variable and it can change an effect, such as your car breaking down while going out to shop. While it may not have a direct effect on the money situation, it does place a direct effect on shopping because it is a preventable method from keeping outside and doing what you want to do. They can affect the outcome for this same reason as well
