He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not Laetitia Colombani (2002)
(500) Days of Summer Marc Webb (2009)
Inside Man Spike Lee (2006)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Michel Gondry (2009)

Direction and requirements
Your assignment is to write a paper in which you offer a narrative analysis of one of the films listed above. You are to give an account of how this particular film goes about the process of telling its story. You should utilize at least one of the principles outlined in Chapter Three of Bordwell and Thompson’s Film Art. These concepts include: causality, plot and story, motivation, temporal order, temporal duration, temporal frequency, narrative space, beginnings and endings, patterns of development, range of narration, depth of narration, and hierarchy of knowledge. You might also make reference to the principles of classical Hollywood cinema narration. You might isolate a single scene and discuss how it is motivated within the context of the whole film. You might examine the pattern(s) utilized in getting the plot from beginning to end. You might examine the nature of the closure that is reached by the film. You might trace the narrative’s flow of information. Perhaps the most often chosen approach for this assignment is to explicate how the scrambled and complex narratives of these films operate finally to convey their meaning. How does their structuring of narrative time ultimately make sense? These are just a few possibilities. You might refer to the list of questions at the end of Chapter Three in your text to help you formulate your paper. Whatever your choice, you are to demonstrate your command of film narrative and narration as well as of the film you have chosen. Remember that your stance should always be argumentative even though you are primarily offering analysis and explication. You are encouraged to consult secondary material such as film reviews and criticism, but remember to give proper attribution for these sources according to MLA guidelines. This paper should include a one-page plot segmentation of your film attached to the end of your paper as an appendix. This paper should be at least five (5) double- spaced essay and 1 page plot segmentation of the film.

Social Media Perception

FSocial Media Perception
Our choices of social media shape our perceptions of events, issues, and people. Cultural memberships influence the content of digital and online communication. Social media have altered how we perceive time and space. People tend to feel anonymous online, even when they have a name associated with their avatar. On the internet, computer mediated conversations lack body language, voice intonation, and other important nonverbal elements. Without these features, people are compelled to fill in the gaps with assumptions about the nonverbal elements.
For some reason, people become much more sensitive when they’re online, and they tend to blow things entirely out of proportion—for example, taking a couple of sentences originally meant to be humorous or sarcastic entirely the wrong way. It’s even worse if you’ve had a bad day and you’ve decided that “no one likes you” (we’ve all had those moments); you’re much more susceptible to misunderstanding messages. Once that happens, everything can go downhill quickly. Instead of asking for clarification (“You were kidding, weren’t you?”) or just ignoring it, many people—forgetting that they’re dealing with another human being on the other end—decide to defend themselves and tell the originator of the offending message exactly what they think of him or her. This outcome is what’s known in the business as a flame. If both sides begin insulting each other, it’s called a flame war (kind of like fighting fire with fire). These digital battles often erupt in “public” and can sometimes be very entertaining to the lurkers.”

Writing Response to “A White Heron” by Sarah One Jewett

This short story can be viewed through a “rite of passage” narrative. Sylvia’s innocence is certainly challanged with the encounter of a tall young man with a gun. Her “woman’s heart, asleep in the child” is vaguely thrilled by the dream of love.
Could this be an invitation for her to step into the adult world, although to do so would abandon her carefree innocence?Gender roles are clearly defined here, the dominite male hunter and pure female (prey) in an idyllic natural setting.

An english dictionary says a love story is one whose central interest is a love relationship. Is this a love story?

You will need:

Introductry paragraph:
– Author name and title of the story.
Thesis statement

Body paragraph 1:
– Answering your thesis statement
– 2 IN-TEXT quotes from the story and the story ONLY to support your argument)

Body paragraph 2:
– Mimic BP1

Conclusion:
– Although you will explain what you’ve wrote about here, you will also use this as an opportunity to expand.

Formatting & Sources
Please write your paper in the MLA format. You must also use at least four credible, outside sources and cite them using MLA format as well. Please include a mix of both primary and secondary sources, with at least one source from a scholarly peer-reviewed journal.
Primary sources are first-hand accounts such as interviews, advertisements, speeches, company documents, statements, and press releases published by the company in question.
Secondary sources come from peer-reviewed scholarly journals, such as the Journal of Management. You may use like JSTOR, Google Scholar, and Social Science Research Network to find articles from these journals. Secondary sources may also come from reputable websites with .gov, .edu, or .org in the domain. (Wikipedia is not a reputable source, though the sources listed in Wikipedia articles may be acceptable.)
TOPIC:
The Gender Gap is defined as ‘the discrepancies in opportunities and status between men and women.’ Many believe the gender gap is still very present in America, saying that women have fewer opportunities in STEM-related fields and make less money than men regardless of time on the job, education, or experience.
However, there are also those who believe the gender gap problem is just a myth. To them, these claims do not consider the type of job, the fact that men may work more hours, and that men are more likely to pursue high-stress advancements.
Is there evidence to suggest that the gender gap still exists today? If so, is there a solution to this problem? If not, what do you think is causing so many to believe that it still exists?

Is Postman’s depiction of “the judgement of Thamus” an important criticism of the mixed blessing of technology? Does it still apply in our modern world? Is Postman’s distinction of three different “tool-using cultures” (or cultures distinguished by types of technology) an important and useful perspective on our current world? How does his typology compare to others? What current everyday examples does his analysis bring to mind?

Please provide one paged paper based on the following questions below. You an choose to answer one question and expand on it or provide a cohesive paper that touches on more than on question.
