Financial Institutions and Markets

Financial Institutions and Markets

Write an essay reflecting your views on
the following statement, use examples and appropriate references to support
or refute the position taken in the statement.

“Caribbean financial institutions are weak and poorly regulated
when compared to North American financial institutions. Additionally, because
the financial markets in the Caribbean are relatively undeveloped, failure of
financial institutions and financial crises are
more likely to occur in the
Caribbean than in North America.”

medical ethics issue

Include references for three sources that could be used in the final paper. All sources should be less than five years old unless recent research is not available, and at least one reference must be a peer-reviewed article from a professional journal. W5 395 Consulting: Demographic Research

Demographic and Segmentation research is an important part of any consulting gig. In this assignment you will just use US government census data to replace the data I have on these template slides from a previous consulting project. A couple things for you to know about getting segmentation data. First, the challenge to using census data is to realize that there is far more data than you could ever weed through. I usually don’t have great luck trying to download tables and filter the data. So I rather google around until I find an existing report or profile that has already summarized the data I need. In this case, you can see my google queries at the bottom of the template slides and it should take you pretty to the data you want to see. Also, in certain selections of data you can’t see what you want, so you just have to google for other sources to get that data from. In this case, just follow my lead on these slides and don’t kill yourself to get any other kinds of data. You can find it later.

pedudice, discrimination, & stereotypes

Distinguish between the following key terms: prejudice, discrimination, and stereotypes.

Identify a social issue or problem in society that demonstrates prejudice, discrimination and/or use of stereotypes. Provide a developed response.

What are three ways we can reduce prejudice in society?

**Source must come from attached file only.

Describe an event or problem (the EFFECT) and argue how specific forces work together to create that event or problem (the CAUSE).

Please print out assignment guidelines and read out loud before drafting.

Final Draft Word Count and Setup Requirement:
1300-1500 words (plus a correctly formatted APA cover page)
In-text citations and References page (if outside source material used in the essay)
12-point Times New Roman font
Double-spaced lines
3rd person point of view
WHAT:
Describe an event or problem (the EFFECT) and argue how specific forces work together to create that event or problem (the CAUSE).
HOW:
To accomplish the goal of this essay, analyze a cause to determine whether it is likely to play an important role in bringing about a particular effect, or analyze a specific effect to determine whether it is likely to result from a particular cause.
BRAINSTORM (Links to an external site.): Select an event or problem that will not require research and brainstorm details related to its cause(s) and effect(s).
Narrow the scope of your essay. A 1300-1500 word essay won’t be enough space to describe all causes and all effects of a particular event or situation; an excellent paper will detail one or two things in depth.
THESIS: Create an effective thesis statement.
A THESIS, above all, HAS TO TAKE A STAND and PRESENT a definite point of view. In scholarly writing, this is PRESENTING AN ARGUMENT, not just a FACT or a SUBJECT.
Sometimes a thesis may show CAUSE and EFFECT:
Example: “Because the cost of college tuition forces working class and poorer students to either quit or skip college (CAUSE), America can no longer claim it is The Land of Equal Opportunity (EFFECT).”
RHETORICAL STRUCTURE:
In an introductory paragraph, summarize background information on the cause/effect; include your essay’s thesis statement as the last sentence of the introduction.
In each paragraph, write a topic sentence that connects to your thesis statement. Develop each paragraph with facts, details, examples, or reasons to support each of your topic sentences.
Conclude your essay by summarizing the main points of the cause/effect essay and explaining how your conclusion connects to your thesis statement.
REVISE the entire document several times to ensure you have conveyed your thoughts clearly, you have developed your paragraphs with details, facts, reasons, examples or evidence, and you have shown logical transitions from one paragraph to the next.
EDIT: Print your essay and read it ALOUD to check your spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
APA Citation Basics: This assignment does not require outside research; the finished essay should not need in-text citations or a References page. The assignment does, however, require a properly formatted APA cover page. The assignment does not require an abstract.
If you decide to include outside sources in the construction of this assignment, you will be graded on the accuracy of your citation decisions and presentation.

three argumentative dialogue

How do we responsibly live with the pandemic?
Write a fictional argumentative dialogue about some issue that arose for you in the discussion board last week (or on a related issue arising from the general question from last week) concerning responsible ways of dealing with pandemic. This might include issues such as mask wearing, social isolation, or less personally, access to adequate affordable health care and economic relief.
The dialogue should consist in five or more exchanges of reasons. An exchange of reasons is when one person says something and the other person responds to it. The dialogue on tipping below can provide a model for how to construct your dialogue. Aim for about 250+ words. (The dialogue on tipping is about 250 words)
Step One. Decide what the issue should be (the default question above, or some related issue) . Make that your focus.
Step two: Create two characters, and assume they’ve just read the debate or participated in the Discussion Board. Have one of the characters offer a brief, opening argument on the issue you choose. Then have the other character offer an opposing argument to that of the first character. The first character then responds, Etcetera. The dialogue is then a reasoned argument across a disagreement. Assume both characters are rational and sincere. Either character can reflect your personal viewpoint, or not. You can choose to have them resolve the disagreement, or not. In any case, they should respond to one another’s actual arguments. Make sure that your interlocutors make arguments.
Step three: Begin your dialogue using a three statement argument. Only one of your interlocutors need make a 3 statement argument, but it’s OK if the other one does too.
Try as best you can to have your interlocutors respond to the details of the arguments they each make.Tune into elements of sufficiency and acceptability if you see them at play.
Feel free to use the Room for Debate exchange as a source of reasons – although you are not required to.
Write this out freely the first time, and then go back and fine tune it. But don’t get hung up on editing. You can make it as “real” as possible, with the exception of excluding obscenities and insults. Spell and grammar check your dialogue.
Argumentative Dialogues are due on Sunday, , 11:55pm.
Sample Argumentative Dialogue on Tipping
Cultural note: in the US, tips are not usually included in one’s bill and waiters, etc depend on tips for part of their income)
Helen (1): A problem with tipping is that sometimes it’s very difficult to know how much to tip taxi drivers, hotel bellhops, or waiters or waitresses in restaurants. If one tips, then one ought to first know how much to tip, so tipping is wrong.
Bob (1): It’s not so difficult. If you got excellent service. Otherwise don’t give a tip at all.
Helen (2): But how much should one give? And how can you judge whether service is excellent?
Bob (2): You just have to use common sense.
Helen (3): Come on Bob, that’s no answer! Common sense is often wrong, isn’t it? What kind of criterion for good judgment is that?
Bob (3): Like most things in life, if you want to do something good, like reward excellence of service, you have to use common sense.
Helen (4): With tipping, common sense leaves too much open to uncertainty. Because of this uncertainty, both individuals involved can be offended. If the tipper gives too little, the receiver is embarrassed and uncomfortable. If the tipper gives too much, she can be embarrassed and uncomfortable. Thus the practice of tipping leads to embarrassment and discomfort.
Bob (4): A lot of students depend on tips to help pay their tuition costs. University education is a good thing. Discontinuing tipping would mean that fewer students could afford it.
Helen (5): That’s no problem. All we need to do is to raise the minimum wage.
Bob (5): That might just put a lot of restaurants out of business, with a resulting job loss for students and others.
