Case Study: Current TB Treatment & Modalities

Please see attached- TB Case study

Conduct an evidence-based literature search to identify the most recent standards of care/treatment modalities from peer-reviewed articles and professional association guidelines (www.guideline.gov (Links to an external site.)). These articles and guidelines can be referenced, but not directly copied into the clinical case presentation. Cite a minimum of three resources.
Answer the following questions:
What is the transmission and pathophysiology of TB?
What are the clinical manifestations?
After considering this scenario, what are the primary identified medical concerns for this patient?
What are the primary psychosocial concerns?
What are the implications of the treatment regimen, as far as likelihood of compliance and outcomes? Search the Internet to research rates of patient compliance in treatment of TB, as well as drug resistant TB.
Identify the role of the community clinic in assisting patients, particularly undocumented patients, in covering the cost of TB treatment. What resources exist for TB treatment in community health centers around the United States? Compare the cost for treatment between, subsidized as it would be for a community health center, and unsubsidized.
What are the implications of TB for critical care and advanced practice nurses?
The use of medical terminology and appropriate graduate level writing is expected.
Your paper should be 4–5 pages, (excluding cover page and reference page).
Your resources must include research articles as well as reference to non-research evidence-based guidelines.
Use Current APA Style to format your paper and to cite your sources. Your source(s) should be integrated into the paragraphs. Use internal citations pointing to evidence in the literature and supporting your ideas. You will need to include a reference page listing those sources. Cite a minimum of three resources.

Community Health Plan

First, the student will submit a two-page proposal that follows APA reference format.
The steps are outlined below:
The ass
Assessment: Assess a targeted population in your community (Miami Gardens) to see what needs to exist. This is done by researching health data for your population. Make sure you select and define your community by noting the history of your community.
Capture a picture of your selected community. What are the vital statistics of your community? Think about socioeconomic statistics. What are the leading causes of death? What illnesses or diseases are present in your community? Do citizens in your community have easy access to primary care? What are the most prevalent health problems in your community?
Formulate a community health nursing diagnosis related to this health need, based on this data, what are the strengths and needs of your community?
Example of Nursing diagnosus: Risk for obesity among Miami gardens population related to ineffective nutrition management as evidence by the rate of obesity and overweight adults in the county is 67.4 % (CDC – Community Profile – Miami-Dade County, FL – Communities Putting Prevention to Work, n.d.).
Plan community intervention. Ask yourself if this will have a positive health impact in the designated population? How do you know?
Evaluation: How would you evaluate your intervention

Narrative Idea into a Treatment

Students will develop their narrative idea into a Treatment, a standard industry document for presenting a film idea.
The treatment should be a prose summary of the Action that will comprise your final script; and should contain all the elements of a treatment as presented in class.
(See lecture slides if needed.)
For this class, 1.5-3 pages will suffice depending on estimated script length; Word file is acceptable
This is also what the Department considers your “Script Proposal” and will be additionally evaluated according to the Department rubric. (See under “Contents” tab.)

Addressing health disparities

APA formatting : Title page, reference page and body of paper: margin alignment to left with one-inch margins, double line spacing, page numbers in upper right-hand corner in the header on every page, font style is Times New Roman, size 12.

Template and format: Your paper is not a summary of the article. You must include your own ideas and the following information in your paper.
1) What is the issue? Provide some background and a description about the topic. What is the purpose of your paper? Provide an overview about what the reader should expect to learn from your paper. One-half – three quarters of a page.
2) Explain why this is an important topic in nursing. How has it impacted the profession? Provide examples. One page
3) What are some suggestions made in the article to address this issue? Are the solutions to the problem that the author suggests realistic? Why or why not. One-half page
4) What are your own ideas about solutions to the problem? What can nurses and other healthcare providers do to help solve this problem? Explain why. One-half page
5) Conclusion- The conclusion is a very important part of the paper that provides an overall analysis of the significance of your findings. What are your takeaways from this what you have learned about this topic? This is not just a summary of your paper. What do you want the reader to take away from your paper in terms of the importance of your findings and ideas? One-half page

The Policy Process, Power, and Political Action

Respond to this discussion post..this was the original question….”
How can health policies be used as allocative or regulatory tools? Who are key stakeholders in any health policy debate? Financing for health care programs is always an issue. If a legislative body must finance health care using public funds, what types of taxes are the public most likely to accept and why?”
And this was a classmate respond. i just a response to the one below.
Health policies can be used as allocative tools by providing certain people or groups of people with resources to promote better health outcomes. For example, my husband is a nurse who works in an outpatient endocrine clinic. Part of his job is obtaining continuous glucose monitors for diabetic patients through Medicare/Medicaid; however, this is not always an easy task. There is a very stringent criteria to have one of these machines covered, for example, blood glucoses must be checked 4x/day, they need a special order for the monitor from their physician in addition to having a detailed written order form detailing why they need such device, and it can’t be filled at a regular pharmacy (i.e. must go through a mail order durable medical equipment pharmacy). While research has shown that continuous glucose monitoring improves glycemic control in diabetic patients, not everyone has access to a continuous glucose monitor or can get it covered by insurance (Triki et al., 2021). It would make sense for the government to cover this as preventative care measure as increased glycemic control can help prevent more expensive conditions related to diabetes (i.e. retinopathy, neuropathy, amputations, CV disease, kidney disease, strokes) and inpatient hospital, but this would also be a huge economic burden.
Most health policy bills are passed through our government; however, this is affected by lobbyists. Those against Medicare/Medicaid may not want their taxpayer money to help treat or prevent conditions that they do not individually suffer from. For example, if someone isn’t a diabetic, why should their taxpayer money pay for a continuous glucose monitor for someone who is? With that, it’s important for the public to view health as a shared value that needs to be promoted and protected as it can improve health outcomes and health equity (Chandra, et al., 2016). Medicare is a federally funded program, but often doesn’t include preventative care without jumping through many hoops. For example, physician visits often aren’t covered for pre diabetics, but are for someone who is already a diabetic.
Unfortunately, preventative care isn’t attainable for everyone. Sticking with the topic of diabetes, prevention can include a healthy diet, active lifestyle, and routine primary care check-ups—Not all people have access to this. In west Baltimore, healthy food options, even grocery stores, are not as readily available as they are in other nearby neighborhoods. This may lead individuals to be limited to unhealthy food options. Additionally, people may not have access to a gym, cannot afford a gym membership, or it may be too unsafe to exercise outside in their neighborhood. Also, individuals may not have the health literacy to understand preventative care when it comes to diabetes. It seems those in marginalized communities have the odds stacked against them—so should the government intervene? For example, should the government provide funding in areas such as West Baltimore where there are food deserts?
I think part of the issue with public funds is that if it doesn’t directly affect you, it is hard to understand why you need to pay for it. One way a legislative body can finance health care with public funds is by taxing individual items. An example of this is the Philly “Soda Tax”, which charges 1.5 cents per ounce on sweetened drinks with sugar or artificial sweeteners, (City of Philadelphia Government, 2021). The idea of taxing such beverages is to discourage people from wanting to purchase them if they are more expensive. Thus, reducing obesity and other related conditions such as diabetes in Americans. If people chose to make choices that are potentially unhealthy, they are individually being taxed rather than taxing everyone.
