real-world situation

onsider a real-world situation that involves relationships that can be modelled with a graph. A
graph consists of a discrete number of vertices and the edges that connect them. When
brainstorming the situation you would like to model with a graph, consider reviewing the
examples that have been presented in your module readings and practice exercises for ideas.

1) Consider a situation in your personal or professional world that involves relationships that can
be modelled with a graph. Describe this situation, in at least one well composed paragraph,
sharing:
● A brief description of the situation modeled,
● What each vertex represents, and
● What each edge represents.

2) Draw a graph using a drawing program of your choice and include it in your post. The
following must be present in your graph:
● Five to ten vertices, each clearly labeled with a single capital letter (A, B, C, D, E …)
● At least two vertices of degree 3 or more (the degree of a vertex is the count of how
many edges are attached to that vertex).
● At least one circuit.
● Be a connected graph.

3) Consider your graph with the perspective of a Euler path or circuit and explain the following:
● In your own words, explain what is required for a path or circuit to be an Euler path or
circuit.
● Does an Euler path exist for their graph? Explain specifically using the label and degree
of each vertex.
● Does an Euler circuit exist for their graph? Explain specifically using the label and
degree of each vertex.

4) Consider your graph with the perspective of a Hamiltonian path or circuit and explain the
following:
● In your own words, explain what is required for a path or circuit to be an Euler path or
circuit.
● Identify one sequence of vertices that makes either a Hamiltonian path or a Hamiltonian
circuit.

5) Based on your real-world situation, think about whether it would be most practical to seek an
Euler vs. Hamiltonian path or circuit. Which one do you think would be more useful in your
situation and why?

Statistical Intimidation

In Chapter 3 of Thinking Like a Psychological Scientist, the author states, “A lot of people are uncomfortable with numbers… When arguments involve numbers, such people may either accept the argument or tune out.” Likewise, religious people are sometimes intimidated when their faith is challenged by “statistical data” or “scientific proof.” In an original post of no less than 250 words, discuss the following:
What do you do when a new “scientific study” challenges your beliefs (religious, political, or otherwise)?
Do you dismiss it, tune out, change your mind, or critically evaluate the claims?
Give an example of a time this happened to you and how you responded.

EEOC Seminar

Visit the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEOC) website. Find a real case involving job discrimination.
Design a seminar to train the new managers who are replacing those who demonstrated discrimination. This seminar should define the new managers’ roles of establishing an organizational climate in which all employees feel valued and can contribute to the success of the company.

Choose how you want to deliver your training plan.

For example, you may choose to create a 15- to 20-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation with speaker notes, or an equivalent multimedia program or technology application such as video, audio, or web conferencing software.

Research the changing demographics of the U.S. workforce to support your seminar.

Include the following in your seminar:
Discuss projected demographics for this company in terms of age, ethnicity, gender, lifestyle, and language. How might these factors influence communication inside and outside the company?
Provide examples of cultural issues that may arise in this company. Consider, for example, employees whose cultural holidays do not align with those of the corporate calendar. Provide other examples and propose strategies for management to maintain cultural neutrality.
Address the role of the manager as a communicator in a rapidly diversifying work environment. Analyze the specific diversity issues involved in the EEOC case. Outline managerial communication strategies to address prejudgment, discrimination, and stereotyping.
Convey the managerial responsibilities to the new recruits regarding organizational values. Focus on communication issues and supply suggestions for how, as managers, they may establish an interculturally sensitive organizational climate.
Explain what is expected at this company in terms of an ethical communications climate. Clarify the manager’s role in establishing and maintaining an ethical communications climate.Format your assignment according to appropriate course-level APA guidelines. Include a reference page.

Weston v. Cornell University

Business Law I (BLAW 3201)
Instructions | Case Analysis
Due Sunday of Module 4
1. Instructions for the report:
This case analysis will give you the opportunity to review the main concepts of Contract Law. The main objective of this assignment is to analyze how Contract Law impacted the business environment. The foundation of your arguments must be based on the theories you learned this semester, and your in-depth analysis of how these theories apply to the real world is the most valuable aspect of this assignment. You should focus on answering the questions. Refrain from discussing historical or political issues unless they are directly related to Contract Law.
Content:
Your report must include:
a) 1 page – A profile of the company involved. This is a summary of the business and its activities, a line or two about its history, milestones, growth/decline based on sales revenue, net profit margins, gross margins, yearly sales growth rate, income source, working capital, and more (key performance indicators – KIPs).
b) 5 pages – An analysis of how the case impacted the business and the industry. Analyze how the company’s practices/methods resulted in a violation of Contract Law. Evaluate the main arguments of each party. Do you agree or disagree with the court’s decision? Explain why.
c) 1 page – Reference page
Total pages: 7. Do not include a cover/title page.
d) List of cases: Pick only one case, and using the library resources and other external sources listed on the next page, research: 1) Weston v. Cornell University | 2) Boswell v. Panera Bread Company | 3) Wagner v. Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc | 4) Basis Technology Corporation v. Amazon.com, Inc. | 5) Forcelli v. Gelco Corporation | 6) Beastie Boys v. Monster Energy Co.
Formatting guidelines:
You must cite the book and at least 5 external sources using APA style formatting. Every other sentence of your paper should have an APA in-text citation. Use Times New Roman 12, double-spaced.
Do not cite Wikipedia or Investopedia! Other reliable sources are national newspapers, official government websites, business magazines such as Inc.com, fastcompany.com, Harvard Business Review hbr.org, and The Economist. A simple way to find sources is to visit Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/
Once there, you copy/paste the case name (for example A&M Records, Inc. v. Napster). Then, you can search for articles or cases directly. It’s very easy to navigate and it’s free.
Another outstanding source is LSUA’s Library. Go to the LSUA’s Library website. Then, at the top of the screen (it reads find items that have “all of these words”) type the name of the case. Then scroll down and under additional limits (in the advanced search site), the last option asks for search targets, check databases, and then click advanced search. You should get a lot of results. To find more information about the companies, follow the same protocol, but under the search tab type the company name and the word MarketLine. For example: Adidas MarketLine. In most cases, you should be able to pull extraordinary data.
Lastly, to be successful, make sure you address all the issues described above.

Submit
a summary on how to study and be successful in college. The summary
must include a thorough description of each part of the SQ3R method as well as all the other sections for success in college. Do not copy and paste. Doing so can result in zero points. Please read and summarize each section in your own words.

Please
use correct spelling and grammar. Each part of the SQ3R method needs to
labeled. Each section needs to be a separate paragraph. The instructor
needs to easily identify each description of each part of the method as
well as the summaries for the other tips for success.

Communication Apprehension

Explain communication apprehension, using and citing your textbook.
Describe a time you experienced a specific type of communication apprehension identified in your textbook (dyadic, group or meeting, or public speaking) in the workplace.
Explain two specific strategies you can use to overcome your communication apprehension based on advice from Chapter 5 and the Speaking Up Without Freaking Out | Matt Abrahams | TEDxPaloAlto (Links to an external site.)
Explain what you will gain from making these improvements.

1) Read the discussion requirements and note that you must:
• Explain communication apprehension, using Bevan. Remember that explaining is not the same
thing as “defining.” Explaining provides detail about a phenomenon to make it clearer and more
meaningful for the reader. For instance, you might simply say “communication apprehension is
the fear of some communicative exchange.” That is a definition. An explanation goes into detail
about what the fear might look like and its implications. For “communicative exchange,” you
would explain what these might be and how apprehension might occur.

• Describe a time when you have experienced communication apprehension. The more detail
you provide here the better. Consider answering a few of these questions: What was the
situation? Who was involved? How did you experience the apprehension? What was the result,
in both the short- and long-term? What are the stakes? Why does the situation matter to you?

• Explain two techniques to overcome communication apprehension. For this, you must use
Bevan and one of the videos. You should already have a scenario of a situation that caused you
some anguish. Now, you need to connect your situation to some advice can you follow from
Bevan and one of the videos to help you overcome this fear in the future. Perhaps you could
address exactly how you might “practice” speaking in front of others. Try to be as precise as
possible and explain why Bevan thinks this technique is so effective. For the videos, they offer
precise advice for overcoming stage fright. If you use that one, explain at least one point from
them and how you can utilize the advice in your life. Remember, you want to directly mention
Bevan and one of the videos. You want to do more than just list some idea from them. You want
to “engage” with them. Read the week 1 “Engaging With Experts” document in the “resources”
section of the week 1 discussion to learn more about the difference between simple use of a
source and deeper engagement.

Assignment Description: A critique, or critical response essay, is partly an analysis and partially an argument. It first identifies and outlines the central argument or conclusions of a chosen persuasive/argumentative piece of writing, its supporting claims or assumptions, its rhetorical appeals, as well as the quality of evidence it uses to support these. It will evaluate the logical strength or validity of its arguments, verify the quality and relevance of its sources and evidence, and measure how generally convincing, persuasive, or comprehensive its argument is. After analyzing these, the author of the critical response essay will write a response to the chosen persuasive/argumentative piece of writing that identifies, explains, and criticizes one or more of the following: 1) faulty logic or reasoning; 2) dubious, inadequate, or insufficient evidence; 3) dubious information sources; 4) biased claims, language, or values; 5) unstated but relevant issues or conclusions; 6) competing perspectives, facts, or values; 7) troubling implications or effects of the argument. The thesis of a critical response essay announces precisely which of these seven critical issues will be addressed for the chosen piece of writing. The essay will organize itself around making these criticisms and convincing the reader to agree with them. The composition should be formatted in Times 12 font and double-spaced.
