Scenario
With real GDP growth in the one percent range and pay raises basically nonexistent, you might think that you are doomed to a stagnant or even declining standard of living. But consider all the services at your fingertips that add to your quality of life. Tasks once done face-to-face or on the phone—shopping, booking hotels, flights, and taxis—can now be done with the tap of a button. Your parents had to visit the bank to deposit a check or withdraw cash. Today, people take a picture of a check, and then electronically deposit, and send money to others.
Research the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the WCU online library and on the Internet. Governmental websites such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) may be useful. Write a two- to three-page paper in APA Style on GDP. Consider the following to guide your research and writing.
What does Martin Feldstein say is wrong with the growth rate of real GDP per person as a measure of the growth rate of the standard of living?
How does the price of a smartphone today compared with the 1991 prices of items it has replaced support Feldstein’s argument? How does the falling share of household production in total production modify Feldstein’s argument?
What other reasons not addressed in the news story make the growth rate of real GDP per person an incomplete measure of the standard of living?

Analytical Paper
The purpose of this Week 4 analysis paper is to continue your exploration into the social and justice systems across the globe. Remember, for each of these writing assignments, you are exploring the SAME (SPAIN) country you selected at the beginning.
The task for this analysis paper is for students to put themselves in the role of a tourist in the country you are studying. Write an analysis of the crime/threat problems faced by visitors in this country, what would happen to you should you be victimized (let’s say robbed in the street of your wallet), and the overall experience of going to (and potentially through) the criminal justice system/process to report the crime and ask for help. This paper should include detailed information related to crime and/or victimization rates; be specific and provide examples.
Utilized APA format (including a reference page)
Cite all sources
Include a title page with page numbers
Approximately 1200-1800 words (roughly 5 pages)
12-point font
1-inch margins on all sides

In paragraph 1, describe a time at work, home, or school where there was a problem and you took the initiative to solve that problem and to seek results on your own.
During job interviews, potential employers often ask candidates to describe a time where they have demonstrated their initiative and/or results driven skills. This week, you’ll have a chance to practice.
In paragraph 1, describe a time at work, home, or school where there was a problem and you took the initiative to solve that problem and to seek results on your own.
In paragraph 2, explain how the process went and describe the solution that you developed.
Consider using the accomplishments you listed in your assignment from last week to add to your story.
Remember to answer each part of the question in 2 paragraphs. Each paragraph should be 5-7 sentences with limited grammatical errors (total 10-14 sentences). Also, respond to at least 1 of your peers (at least 1-2 sentences).

Practice Conditions and the importance of Transfer
Part One:
Why does random or varied practice temporarily inhibit performance and enhance learning. Provide an example to support your position.
Part Two:
Each lesson has included an added focus on technology and motor learning. Often, technology can outperform human senses in some learning strategies and corresponding feedback. Reflect on each technology component of lessons 1-8 ( they include: wearable devices, measuring Contextual Interference C.I., robotics, Open Digital Badges, OBE, telerehabilitation, motor imagery & vibrotactile feedback, and human brain interface) and provide an example of how you might apply technology to enhance a practice experience.
Texas Gun Policy
Find two articles that offer some background (demographics, statistics, etc.) or history on your gun policy in Texas. The sources should answer some or all of the following questions:
What has happened in the recent past related to the topic? How has this topic been addressed by the government in Texas? What has made this topic important today or what shows that it is significant enough to be addressed by state or local government?

Formalist Critical Method Paper – Oates, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” p. 114
Formalist Critical Method Paper
Due: 8 Feb. 2022 (Tuesday) by 11.59pm
“the text is the text is the text”
Readers must avoid bringing personal material to the reading.
Objective:
The goal is to identify “tension(s)” in the literary work and to explore how it (they) are resolved, which will reveal the “meaning.”
Text under consideration:
Oates, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” p. 114
Note:
You need to rely on the story, not the contextual information following it or any other material. This is pure textual analysis. I CANNOT stress this enough. DO NOT go on a Google search for information about serial killers the author might have read about while writing the story. If you mention the name “Charles Schmid” or anything connected to him, I will fail the paper and move onto the next. This paper is a formalist analysis. You’re looking for and at themes in the text. Don’t go looking for material. You have been warned.
What to examine?
The form of the text.
Parts of the text:
Characters
Setting
Point of view (3rd Person & 1st Person)
Narrative form/Structure
Plot
Symbol
Figurative Language
Foreshadowing
Theme
Tone
It’s easiest to base your analysis on the standard textual motif:
Introduction->Complication->Resolution
+——-~~///////////*—–~~////////*———-+
Beginning (+) followed by buildup (–) to tension (~~) to tension (///) to release (*), etc.
Assignment:
Your paper is meant to be a textual analysis of the tension(s) using the formalist’s approach.
Your thesis will address the tension(s) you find at work. You should specifically mention the tension and what you are led to believe the author hopes to accomplish. Discuss what he does and how he does it plus why he would choose to do so.
The body of your paper will deal with the “form” of the text (characters, setting, POV, narrative form, plot, etc.).
Rules
*You MUST have a clearly stated thesis. Papers lacking a thesis are unacceptable and will receive a grade of “F.”
*Follow the paper format information provided in the Little Seagull Handbook. This essay MUST be in standard, MLA format. Essays not meeting proper format will be lowered by one grade.
*This paper MAY be a 5 paragraph essay (Intro., 3 Body Paragraphs, Conc.)
*There is no page length. A paper is only a paper if it has five or more paragraphs (a paragraph consisting of three or more sentences).
*You must attach a Works Cited page. You will only have one citation. Check the handbook. Here’s a hint. Look for “Work from an anthology.”
*If you choose to quote directly from our reading, you should cite the quotations by using the author’s last name and page number (either in the sentence or in parenthetical citation).
*There is no need for external research when performing a basic formalist analysis (so NO external research is allowed).
