One topic we discussed was the use of control, whether it was control exerted over the physical land, indentured servants, or slaves. In your paper explain how the British and, later, U.S. governments exerted control over the land they claimed power over. Why was control important to these governments? What were their methods of control? Who were they trying to control? In addition to this, explain what lingering effects these aspects of control have on modern U.S. society.
