Assume or pretend you are a recent appointee to a National Organization for Human Services committee tasked with writing a new reference book for Human Services. The book must include several chapters on l pioneers in Human Services and is titled Historic pioneers are those persons who helped create a field of study or made significant advancements in solving a social problem or improving social welfare through direct service or political advocacy. The editors of the book have asked all authors to nominate a person who made extraordinary contributions to the field of human services (or social work) in the nineteenth or twentieth century. An external committee will vote on the nominations, and those authors whose nominations receive the most votes will write a chapter on their nominee for inclusion in the book.
History and Foundations of Human Services in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries is a basic reference book, so your submission should target 9th-grade level readers. To ensure this, you will include a SMOG readability analysis in an appendix to your nomination submission.

The topic for this assignment is GENERATIONAL DIFFERENCES IN THE WORKPLACE. As our workforce continues to grow, it also becomes much more “diverse” from a generational perspective. In many organizations today there could be as many as five (5) generations attempting to interact and work together toward successful organizational goals and objectives.

Upon completion of the short video, your assignment is to conduct a literature search and industry-related research for the topic and prepare a five (5) to seven (7) page paper (double-spaced, font size of 12 point) for this topic. The narrative report should include (at a minimum) an introduction to the topic of generational diversity, discussion related to the generations which make up today’s workforce, the unique qualities that each group brings to the “table”, the positive and/or negative interaction that does (or could) occur between and among the generations, and the impact of these interactions in today’s 21st Century organizations.
At the conclusion of the paper I encourage you to include your experiences and/or thoughts with the topic at hand. Based on what you have researched and read, what are your thoughts about all of the generations “working together” toward a common goal…Possible? Impossible? Problematic? Ideal? Crazy to think it can happen? What do you feel is going to be the impact of this situation on YOU as you enter, reenter, grow/move up in the business/industry/education. These are just a few directions you can go with your final discussion. A BIBLIOGRAPHY is to be prepared and attached to the end of the report. This bibliography must include a minimum of five credible (5) sources and can consist of both scholarly and reputable popular press sources (not counted as part of the page requirement). To convey your thoughts should require the use of “I” in your discussion…which is not only acceptable, but expected in this paper.

Create and annotated bibliography where you spell out for me what each piece of literature will add to your lit review and your final paper. (Examples, (1) piece for the history or big picture; (2) one piece that is more general in focus; (3) one piece about a more narrow area; (4) subsequent research that addresses questions raised in that sub heading. For example, domestic violence: (1) historical problem; (2) the criminal justice system has had trouble dealing with it effectively; (3) efforts have been made; (4) describe these efforts. (Could go a totally different way: focus on police; focus on prosecutors; focus on victims; focus on batterers, etc.)
