Case analysis for Tesla

Case Analysis: Please focus on question 3 (please note Q3 is broader than Q2). How has Tesla been disrupting the auto industry (if at all)?

1. What’s the industrial structure for automobiles at the turn of the century? Which (local) firms were the last successful entrants into the market?
2. What are the major differences between an ICE (internal combustion
engine) car and an EV (electric vehicles) car? Any implications for firm
capability, business model and competition dynamics?
3. In comparison to conventional cars, what is a Tesla?
4. How has the financial market been responding to the Tesla story? Please
trace it from the first day of IPO until today. Anything to learn from the
stock price fluctuation?
5. (Bonus) How do the challenges imposed by Tesla differ from those imposed
by the Japanese auto companies to Detroit’s Big Three?

What do you think of Gore’s organizational structure? Would it work in your company/organization? Why or why not?

Forced smiling can effect your mood is a myth

Your literature review should consist of 5-6 pages of the following:
Using 8-10 empirical articles that you chose to investigate your myth…
What is your myth and why is it important? Explain it.
Reminder: Organize your paper by the points you’re making to support your hypothesis and/or answer the guiding research question(s). Within each main point present the findings from at least one (preferably more than one) empirical article. For example, you could present four main points with 2-3 articles supporting each point.
To support each main point, summarize the findings from the research articles. What do the findings suggest?
Throughout your paper, reflect on the level of confidence the consumer should have in those research findings’ ability to inform the argument(s) in your paper (e.g., specific myth, hypothesis/guiding research question(s), main points). What is your assessment of the research designs and methods used in the empirical articles you found? For example, how effective were those researchers in terms of adding knowledge to the psychological literature (e.g., explaining or predicting something to reveal a truth that is relevant to the myth topic)? How did they test the myth or a related hypothesis in a highly reliable/valid way to reduce error, limit bias, rule out potential alternative explanations, etc.? In other words, no study is perfect, so what are your major critiques of the methodology they chose? Demonstrate your understanding of why/how the researcher(s) chose that methodology and think about how a future study could be designed differently to perhaps do a better job informing people about your myth topic. Do not include extraneous details about the methods that you do not understand – you can only effectively communicate something if you understand it. If you need help or clarification, please reach out to either Professor G-R or the TAs during office hours.
What conclusion do you make based on the studies you read? Are you convinced that there’s enough evidence for or against your myth? Why or why not?
If needed, go back to Myth Project #7: Draft of Literature Review for more information/guidance on how to organize your paper.
Carefully review the rubric below. You will be graded on the following criteria to earn up to 75 total points. The first six criteria are worth 12 points each: purpose, content, organization, critical thinking, use of references and quality of references, and use of APA (7th edition) formatting. Writing/grammar is worth 3 points, but you may lose points in other areas as well if the reader cannot comprehend your intended meaning.
To earn full points on grammar, please follow the Grammar Guidelines to avoid both Major & Minor Mistakes.

THE FINAL VERSION OF YOUR PAPER SHOULD CONTAIN A REVISED LITERATURE REVIEW BASED ON FEEDBACK THE INSTRUCTOR AND/OR GRADUATE TA PROVIDED ON YOUR DRAFT, AND SHOULD ALSO CONTAIN A CLEAR CONCLUSION.

12 pts
Exemplary
Compelling evidence from professionally legitimate sources is given to support claims. Attribution is clear and fairly represented. References are primarily peer-reviewed professionally journals or other approved sources (e.g., government documents, agency manuals…). The reader is confident that the information and ideas can be trusted.
9 pts
Good/Competent
Professionally legitimate sources that support claims are generally present and attribution is, for the most part, clear and fairly represented. Although most of the references are professionally legitimate, a few are questionable (e.g., trade books, internet sources, popular magazines…). The reader is uncertain of the reliability of some of the sources.
6 pts
Acceptable
Although attributions are occasionally given, many statements seem unsubstantiated. The reader is confused about the source of information and ideas. Most of the references are from sources that are not peer-reviewed and have uncertain reliability. The reader doubts the accuracy of much of the material presented.
3 pts
Unacceptable
References are seldom cited to support statements. There are virtually no sources that are professionally reliable. The reader seriously doubts the value of the material and stops reading.

Personal Experience Topic

Here is the chance, perhaps, for you to write the essay you have always wanted to write. The field is wide open. The only real constraints are that your topic must be based upon personal experience as I defined it, and you should be able to present a thesis encompassing the narrative you provide. You may use a series of briefer connected examples, or a single, extended, chronologically unified example. Certainly, given our series of readings, you may write about your experiences with war, either indirect, with violence, with ideas of personal responsibility. These papers cannot, however, be rants for or against war, say, or a particular war, but must be grounded in personal experience.

However, as I state in the first two sentences, your choice of subjects is your own.

The paper should begin with title and a first sentence that hooks the reader into the paper. You may place your thesis at the beginning, middle, or end of the essay, but it should fit where you place it. You will want to present strong descriptive and narrative detail throughout the paper. You will want a convincing conclusion that provides closure to the paper. My main concern is that you link your example(s) to your thesis and thus link memory to meaning.

Make sure that your paper includes the following:

a title that serves as an effective hook;
an introduction that draws the reader into the essay;
strong concrete descriptive details throughout;
clear narrative details;
a strong conclusion that provides closure and a sense of completeness for the paper;
a thesis, which provides a context of meaning for the memory or memories that your paper examines and that allows the paper to be more than a story, that allows it to be an essay.
Format your paper according to the model on page 193 in The Little Seagull Handbook.

Food Insecurity: Who is most affected by it?

The paper itself will explain the issue of food insecurity, analyze the various views and theories
regarding the issue, explain why and how it is a social justice matter, offer proposals for resolving
the issue, discuss the obstacles to resolving it, and relate the issue to the course materials. Since this is a semester-long project, use a variety of academically-sound sources (which I will provide) and the paper should be an extensive treatment of the subject

I will provide an outline for reference you dont need to use it but PLEASE use Sources given

Also please add about how this topic relates to either John Rawls,John C. Hasanyi or
William Arugument for free market.

• Executive Summary: You must include a brief executive summary (preferably one paragraph) in your papers. Your executive summary should be short, simple, and to the point. It should briefly summarize the problem, the recommended policy alternative, and the basis for the recommended policy alternative.
• Analysis of the Problem: You should explain the problem and its causes here. It would be best if you mentioned who is impacted by the situation, how it developed over time, and how it might change.
• Review of Current Legislation, Policies, and Programs: You need to summarize the current legislation, policies, and programs undertaken by the government (especially at the governmental level you are focusing on), highlighting their strengths and weaknesses.
• Policy Goals: Policy goals are also the evaluative criteria. In this section, you should explain your evaluative criteria (no more than 4) and their impact categories.
• Alternatives: You should provide details on your alternatives (no more than 4), including information on which government agency/division should implement that particular alternative.
• Comparison of the Alternatives: You should compare the outcomes of your alternatives based on the criteria and impact categories you selected.
• Evaluation and Recommendation: You should present your Criteria Alternatives Matrix (CAM) and mention your final recommendation to deal with the problem here.
You can talk about your data collection activities (e.g., interviews, surveys) either in a separate section or when they are relevant (e.g., if one of your interviewees was helpful in terms of your understanding of the problem the better, you can mention that interview in the problem background section).
