life-span

Throughout this course we examined development through the lens of the life-span. For this week we took a closer look at older adults. The perceptions about growing older into older adulthood often do not match the realities of being an older adult. For this assignment, explain some of the myths regarding older adults and some of the realities they often face. Put special emphasis on the social-economic and the physical factors that you have found in your readings and research on this topic. Based on your experiences how would you interpret these myths and realities of older adults? Make sure to justify your answers by citing relevant sources.

Stress and Quality of Life

Normative and non-normative events help us understand how change and stress may impact our quality of life. Using the South University Library, locate 2 scholarly journal articles written in the last 5-6 years on how change and/or stress can impact a person’s life. Look especially for how sudden, unanticipated (non-normative events) events can impact a person’s quality of life.
Write a summary.
Describe the main points of the article and how they relate to the week’s course and text readings.

9. What does Shadrack’s character teach us about the effects of war and the ways mentally ill people can be ostracized from a community?

THIS DISCUSSION AT THE BOTTOM HAS TO BE INCORPORATED INTO THIS ESSAY!!!!!!!!!

I agree that, despite the community ostracizing Sula, they were all subconsciously grateful for her presence. Sula’s return to Medallion had united the community against her. With her gone, they no longer had her to position itself against and resumed their old, indifferent ways. They tore the edifice apart and vandalized construction materials when they united in an unusual act of defiance. It got to the point where they eventually destroyed a tunnel that they had been forbidden to work on due to racist hiring practices. Due to all the stories the community heard about Sula, her indifferent reaction to Hannah’s death, and her affair with white men are such stories that support the gravity of anything that goes wrong in the community. For example, Mr. Finley, had been sucking on chicken bones on his porch, saw Sula for the first time after her return, and choked to death(Page 107).After Teapots’ fall, for the first time in her life, Betty has an inclination to provide the best care for her son, she has an inclination to motherhood, stating before that betty, his mom was called Teapot’s Mamma ”because being his mamma was precisely her major failure”(Page 106).Sula is improving the community’s behavior and actions and shows in a way why there are grateful for her presence.

Considering Leadership Behaviors

Write a 500 word essay in which you describe and define transformational and transactional leadership. Be sure to explain the types of behaviors associated with each type of leadership. Think of a leader you know OR think back to the case of Michelle Rhee and DC schools. Would you describe them as transactional, transformational, or some of both? Please use three examples to provide evidence for your argument.
Address the following in your paper:
Define transformational and transactional leadership.
Describe the behaviors associated with transformational and transactional leadership.
Analyze the actions of a leader you know (or Michelle Rhee) and provide three examples of his or her behavior to make the case for whether they are transformational, transactional, or both.
Format your paper and references according to APA guidelines. Provide at least two references in APA citation style. Writing should be clear, well-organized, and contain minimal grammatical errors.

Making Changes Through Application of the Learning Theories

Making Changes Through Application of the Learning Theories

Power point

My first goal is to overcome my Phobia with (caculus).

1. Provide the specific goal.
2. List two steps you took to work toward meeting this goal this week.
3. Explain how you would apply either classical conditioning or operant conditioning toward meeting your goal. Be specific. What stimuli and what responses would you be pairing? What is something you like that you would add to build the new behavior, or what is something you do not like that exists in your environment and you would remove it to build the new behavior?
4. Explain how you could apply social learning theory (learning through the observation of others) toward meeting your goal. Who would you observe, and what behavior would you observe that you could then imitate?

5 review your hypothesis or Redesign your hypothesis, if you need to, incorporating what you have learned this week.

My hypothesis for caculus is attached feel free to redesign for last slide if need to

Article Summary and Critique

ARTICLE SUMMARY AND CRITIQUE
The goal of this assignment is to show that you can understand, summarize, and critique a research article.

· This assignment should be written in full sentences and paragraph form (no bullet points!)
· Reference in APA format https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_style_introduction.html
· Do not use direct quotes, everything must be written in your own words
What to include
CITATION (1pt)
Prior to the summary and critique, include the article citation in APA format.
SUMMARY (13pts)
In your own words, summarize the study. Ensure that you use proper citations where appropriate necessary. You should briefly highlight each of the following points (please organize the summary using appropriate section headings and sub-headings, as is done here):
Introduction and background (4pts)
· What is being investigated?
· Briefly discuss relevant background information that helps frame the research question(s).
o Note: look for information that is directly related to the research question(s) and hypotheses

· What is/are the research question(s)?
· What are the hypotheses? – if these are not stated, mention this in your summary Methodology (5pts)
Participants
· Describe the participant population with any relevant information (e.g., age, language(s) spoken, relevant language background, etc.)

Experimental tasks
· Name and describe the experimental task that was performed
· Describe the type of stimuli used (e.g., phonemes, words, sentences, etc.)

Discussion/Conclusion (2pts)
· How do the results relate to the research question(s) and hypotheses?
o Note: do not use the word “prove” or “proof” here! In scientific research we find “evidence supporting X, Y, and Z”
· Summarize the main points of the discussion
· Briefly mention any future directions (if the authors touch on this)
CRITIQUE (5pts)
In this section, provide your own thoughts and critique on the article. Topics of discussion can include the following:
· Did you find the article to be well structured?

· Was the task sufficient in tapping into the research question?
· If you were to do a similar study, would you do anything differently? If so, what?
Note: You may provide your thoughts on other aspects of the article that are not mentioned in this list. Make sure that you analyze the article and provide thorough thoughts. You will not get full points for simply stating that the article was well written.
RELATED ARTICLE (5pts)
Find one related primary source article (must be published in an academic journal) that is not mentioned in the article. Please include the following:
· Briefly summarize the article
o Note: this should only be a couple of sentences talking about the topic and research outcomes
· Discuss how the article you found is related to the article you read
o E.g., the study focused on similar research questions, the study was an extension of the article you read, etc.
REFERENCES (1pts)
Include a list of any references (in APA format) that you cite in your assignment. You do not need to include the reference for the article, this is already included at the beginning of the assignment.

Law Codes

Assignment Guidelines:
Compare the early law codes, such as that of Hammurapi or the Biblical Covenant. They can be found in Sayre pp. 43-46 and 53-54 or there are versions on Canvas along with law codes of the Hittites and the Assyrians at the above link. What kinds of general themes do you find in the codes? Based on the codes, what can you say about organization and outlook of the societies? Your paper must be between 500-750 original words in length and in MLA format.
Formatting Guidelines:
This essay must be well-written, and free of spelling and grammatical errors. The essay will be judged on the quality of your understanding of your chosen topic and discussion of the historiography. You should be able to organize a large body of material and facts (and too few facts that are reliable) in order to produce a coherent argument about your topic that is well organized and supported by primary and secondary sources.
Style: Times New Roman 12 point
Sources: Use academic sources only. Avoid the internet as a secondary source (it can be useful for preliminary research but look up the references and use them instead). The library has a small collection of books and journals but does has access to many more online. Use JSTOR to find scholarly articles. Primary sources can be harder to find and you may need to use an online version. This is fine but be careful that it is from a reliable source.
