In just about any circumstance in life, one has the potential to experience culture shock, either on a small or large scale. Think about a culture shock scenario that you had at any point in your life. Examples of culture shock that are appropriate for this assignment can include migrating to a new country, going on vacation, trying a new cuisine, converting to a new religion, or going to college, just to name a few.
Sociologically analyze your culture shock experience by incorporating several sociological concepts/theories. Write a 3-4-page paper by following the outline below.
I. Background (½ to 1 page):
Briefly explain one culture shock experience you had. Include the setting, people involved, and main event(s). Include enough details so the reader can vividly imagine what is happening, but do not go beyond the 1-page requirement.
Make sure you include a well-developed thesis statement, which informs the reader in one sentence what the paper is about. The thesis should be placed at the end of the Background section. Go to this link for assistance:
http://writingcenter.unc.edu/resources/handouts-demos/writing-the-paper/thesis-statements.
II. Analysis (2 to 3 pages): This is the main part of your paper. Make sure this section is very well-developed, well-organized, and well-written since your grade depends mainly on your sociological analysis of the culture shock experience.
Analyze your culture shock experience by using at least five key terms learned from previous modules. For each key term, you will need to provide examples of your culture shock in order to illustrate that you can use the course material to reach a greater depth of understanding. You must go beyond just describing your culture shock experience. Key terms must be bolded or underlined in your paper, or they will not be counted in the quota. In addition, examine the outcomes of your culture shock.
What was your reaction to this experience?
Were you ethnocentric or culturally relativistic, and how?
Also, why you were ethnocentric or culturally relativistic?
* Be sure to apply your sociological imagination when responding to these questions. Include specific examples or illustrations.
III. Conclusion (1/2 -1 page): Include an engaging and stimulating conclusion paragraph that summarizes your paper. Demonstrate evidence that you can make connections between all of the main ideas.
Proofread:
The paper should be logically organized in well-constructed paragraphs/sentences, have relevant content, and be easily understood. There should be few or no errors in format, sentence structure, grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. These errors should not hinder comprehension of your writing

Discussion Board Unit 2 The Laws of Evidence
Primary Discussion Response is due by Thursday (11:59:59pm Central), Peer Responses are due by Saturday (11:59:59pm Central).
Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas:
Technology and its impact on the admission of evidence
Facial recognition software has come a long way in a short period of time, and is believed by many to provide a technological boost to law enforcement’s ability to identify potential suspects. One of the problems law enforcement often faces today is the availability of photo or video images from a crime, but no way to effectively identify an individual shown on the photo or video.
For this discussion board, research facial recognition software, its reliability, effectiveness, and admissibility.
Share with your classmates what you’ve learned about facial recognition software.
In addition to your general discussion on facial recognition software, please answer the following questions:
Is there a consensus in the scientific community on the reliability of facial recognition software?
Are there any courts that have admitted evidence based on facial recognition software?
How have courts traditionally dealt with new technologies and their evidentiary impact on the criminal trial?
What, if any, barriers stand in the way of courts using facial recognition software?
Do you believe that the admission of evidence based on facial recognition software will ever become commonplace in our criminal justice system? Why or why not?
Responses to Other Students: Respond to at least 2 of your fellow classmates with at least a 100-word reply about their Primary Task Response regarding items you found to be compelling and enlightening. To help you with your discussion, please consider the following questions:
What did you learn from your classmate’s posting?
What additional questions do you have after reading the posting?
What clarification do you need regarding the posting?
What differences or similarities do you see between your posting and other classmates’ postings?
For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.

Assume that you are a systems analyst on the consulting team assigned to the Williams Specialty Co. engagement. At your first meeting with the Williams staff, you want to be sure that they understand the work that your team will be performing and how they will participate in that work.
Mini Case
Williams Specialty Company is a small printing and engraving organization. When Pat Williams, the owner, brought computers into the business office 8 years ago, the business was very small and very simple. Pat was able to utilize an inexpensive PC‐based accounting system to handle the basic information processing needs of the firm. As time has gone on, however, the business has grown and the work being performed has become significantly more complex. The simple accounting software still in use is no longer adequate to keep track of many of the company’s sophisticated deals and arrangements with its customers.
Pat has a staff of four people in the business office who are familiar with the intricacies of the company’s record‐keeping requirements. Pat recently met with her staff to discuss her plan to hire an IS consulting firm to evaluate their information system needs and recommend a strategy for upgrading their computer system. The staff are excited about the prospect of a new system, since the current system causes them much aggravation. No one on the staff has ever done anything like this before, however, and they are a little wary of the consultants who will be conducting the project.
