Job Coaching (Individuals)

In this assignment, you will introduce your project topic with an annotated bibliography as the beginning of your course project. You will investigate a topic in your specialization area for your project. Because ethics is so fundamental to the field of psychology, you will also make a preliminary assessment of ethical concerns that should be considered in relation to your topic.
Review the Applying Theory to Practice course project description. For your annotated bibliography, present at least seven current, peer-reviewed journal articles from the literature of the field that address your chosen subfield of I/O psychology. (For this assignment, current resources are defined as materials published within the last 3–5 years.) Use the I/O topic guides in the Capella library (linked in Resources). Incorporate both theoretical and empirical studies in your annotated bibliography. Focus your research on the current practices in your chosen subfield and on the historical and theoretical background that has influenced its development.
Select the most relevant resources from your research thus far, and write a full APA reference for each. Complete a bibliographical annotation for each of your resources, incorporating a brief summary of each article, an evaluation of its relevance to your project topic, any ethical concerns, and the other features of a complete annotation (as outlined in the instructions below). The annotation for each resource should be no more than two paragraphs in length.
The following instructions, adapted from J. D. Lester’s Writing Research Papers, outline general guidelines for approaching your annotated bibliography:
List the complete APA citation for the material.
Explain the main purpose of the material.
Briefly describe the content in a 1–2 paragraph summary.
Evaluate the relevance of the information and indicate how you think it applies well to your subject in one paragraph.
Note any special features of the material, including tables or graphs, that contribute to its value.
Identify any ethical considerations, if appropriate.
Refer to additional helpful links in Resources for further guidance on writing your annotated bibliography.

Ethics/Engineering

You will have to write answers to follow-up questions throughout the book. Answer Discussion Question 4-9 (p. 66) based on the story in the text thru Chapter 4 (Hold Paramount) in PDF. One page and double check. Make sure to show your clarity with more specificity in your writing.

Question 4-9: One of the reviewers of this book in the manuscript stage, an engineering ethics instructor, suggested that one solution for Joe and Sarah would be to write a letter to the owners, Timmo, explaining clearly and forthrightly their concerns about the design of the overhang and stating that, in their opinion, the overhang was unsafe. The reviewer suggested that if this letter were written, then Pines (and Joe, Sarah, and Chris) would be “off the hook,” that there would be a paper trail of honest communication, and that the decision to fix or not to fix the overhang would rest with the owners. If the owners wanted to cancel the opening of the hotel, they were free to do so, but the engineers would be blameless if the structure should fail. What do you think of this response? Do you think such a letter absolves the engineers of responsibility?

Be sure to thoroughly answer both parts of the question. Additionally, comment on how the Citi Corp tower case and the Hyatt Regency case bear on your answers.

Describe and discuss the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1993 definition of sexual harassment. What is that definition, and why does it represent an important change? Why do some people, especially conservative men, fear this new definition?

Each of your answers should be written using your own words. Do not copy and paste from your textbook or an Internet source. Simply copying from the book word-for-word does not show me that you understand the concepts. Ensure you cite your work and add reference(s) at the end of your journal. This assignment is designed to see if you are reading and understanding the material from your textbook and learning modules, so these should be the sources you are citing in your work. You should not need to do research from additional resources unless the question specifically asks you to do so; you should not be Googling the answers for these questions.
Please review the APA module under the “Getting Started” area if you need assistance. As a criminal justice professional, it is imperative that you learn the finer aspects of writing. Citing and referencing are part of the gradable criteria for your weekly work.

Suicide is more of a sociological problem than a psychological problem. Create an argument agreeing or disagreeing with this statement.

Describe and discuss the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1993 definition of sexual harassment. What is that definition, and why does it represent an important change? Why do some people, especially conservative men, fear this new definition?

Compare and contrast voluntary hospitalization and involuntary hospitalization for mental illnes

Technology Learning Changes

In the book “Reader Come Home,” Maryanne Wolf observes:
There were no significant studies about what was happening in the brains of children (or adults) as they learned to read while immersed in a digitally dominated medium six to seven hours a day (a figure that since has almost doubled for many of our youth). (page 7).

How has digital activity (cell phone, tablet, gaming) influenced you and your perception of reading? What do you think has been happening to you?
Reflect on your personal literacy experiences by writing about your perceptions of reading. Include examples about the digital influences and reading from your earliest memory through elementary school, middle school, high school, and to the present day. What are you like as a reader? Do you think you are a good reader? Why or why not? If you think you have had negative experiences learning to read, please mention those! Be honest and come to terms with what you genuinely think about reading. Comment on what you read now and key people who influenced your feelings about reading.
This is an essay assignment. Essay length should about 2-3 pages double-spaced pages or more. Your essay should include an APA cover sheet.
