the questions in detail and make sure you write at least 2 full pages. Make
sure you are using proper citation as outlined in the syllabus.

1. Define evidence-based practice.
2. Explain
the professional and ethical importance of evidence-based practices.

Discuss why the general public and sociologists have failed to agree upon a definition of deviance. Why is achieving a definition so difficult?

Each of your answers should be written using your own words. Do not copy and paste from your textbook or an Internet source. Simply copying from the book word-for-word does not show me that you understand the concepts. Ensure you cite your work and add reference(s) at the end of your journal. This assignment is designed to see if you are reading and understanding the material from your textbook and learning modules, so these should be the sources you are citing in your work. You should not need to do research from additional resources unless the question specifically asks you to do so; you should not be Googling the answers for these questions.
Please review the APA module under the “Getting Started” area if you need assistance. As a criminal justice professional, it is imperative that you learn the finer aspects of writing. Citing and referencing are part of the gradable criteria for your weekly work.
All questions are worth 20 points:
Compare and contrast the positivist and constructionist perspectives on deviance. How do they differ but also work together to provide a better definition of deviance?
Compare and contrast strain and control theories. What does each say about the causes of deviance? Which one is more sensible?
Discuss why the general public and sociologists have failed to agree upon a definition of deviance. Why is achieving a definition so difficult?
Explain and evaluate the labeling approach to deviant behavior. What are some of the pros and cons of this approach? How does it relate to the more general process of social interaction?
How does the social learning theory explain deviant behavior? What social forces does this theory provide that would pressure someone toward deviance?
Journal Assignment Grading:
Each assignment is given equal weight out of 100 points.; each question is worth 20 points. If a question is not answered, no points will be received for that response. Each question is weighted equally.
Please post all answers as an attachment in a Microsoft Word document or a Rich Text Format file. This assignment is due by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Summary:
Using Moliere’s Tartuffe or Voltaire’s Candide, write a response paper that a) briefly analyzes your chosen text, providing your interpretations of a specific literary element (such as a character or theme analysis) or, b) thoughtfully explores how characters, events, or themes in your chosen text may relate to your life personally, as well as to current events or global issues in the world today. Your final paper should be a minimum of 750 words and thoroughly address the assignment instructions.

The literature is attached below. Must use two examples from texts with no external sources. This is a response paper.

Requirements:
Thesis, Analysis, and Organization
Write an introduction that announces the name of the story/author you’ve chosen and provides a specific thesis statement that describes the aspect of the story you’ll be discussing, and how it is relevant to the present.
In your body paragraphs, elaborate on your thesis, connecting one or more specific aspects of the story with personal experience, a current event, and/or a global issue. (A useful brainstorming exercise here may be to think in terms of dichotomies, like war and peace, love and hate, wisdom and ignorance, etc.- where do you see these conflicts in a text, and how might they connect to a current event?) Remember, the focus of this paper is to draw meaningful connections between characters, plot, or theme to some type of current or recent event in our time.
Along the way, support your points using one or two quoted passages (brief) from the literary work, formatted in MLA Style. Do not include any information or analysis from outside sources in this paper; use your own interpretations only. Plagiarism will result in a grade of zero for this assignment.
MLA Style
Your paper must be formatted according to MLA style (this includes having a four-line heading on page one, double spacing [2.0 line spacing] throughout the document, Times New Roman font, 12-pt. type, one-inch margins, etc.)
Use correct MLA in-text documentation as needed.
You must include a Works Cited page at the end of your paper. Remember, even if you do not include research, you should still have an entry for the literary about which you write.
For more information about MLA style, view the How-To Guide: MLA Formatting and Citations page.
Grammar/Mechanics
All written assignments should be mechanically and grammatically correct, with proper punctuation. For more information on each of these, view Purdue OWL’s pages on Grammar, Mechanics, and/or Punctuation.
