Describe the most charismatic leader you know. What are the characteristics that make this person charismatic?

Charismatic Leadership Theory
When I ask students to think of people that have or had charisma, I often get answers like Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, Elvis, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Charisma is hard to define but everyone knows it when they see it. A charismatic leader leads by example. Such a person represents a vision for change–a change for a better future. They are successful in rallying employees around this vision and they make exceptional efforts through personal example to achieve the vision. Charismatic leaders are exciting and energizing to their staffs.
Transactional vs. Transformational Leadership
Transactional leaders are those who guide or motivate followers toward accomplishing organizational goals. Transactional leaders make roles and requirements clear for employees. They establish rewards for good performance and recognize accomplishments. They only get involved when there is a problem (management by exception).
Transformational leaders have charisma and provide inspiration to their employees. They tend to have individual relationships with employees and provide intellectual stimulation. They act as advisors and coaches and instill others with a sense of mission.

Module 7 Discussion Questions: (Due by Thursday)

MILE

In this course, you have explored the elements of a market profile, including cultural, political, and economic aspects, and looked at the legal and regulatory market considerations. In this milestone, you will complete the next part of your course project by creating a market profile for your chosen country and creating legal and regulatory considerations.
Scenario
You are a business analyst working at a small, domestic organization that produces high-quality baseball bats. Your organization has begun to see its sales flatten in the domestic market. While the organization is not losing money, leadership would like to explore options to continue to grow. One option that leadership has noticed competitors attempting is entering international markets.
You have been asked to examine the benefits, drawbacks, and key considerations for your organization to enter one of the global markets below, and summarize your findings in a business brief for leadership.
Continue to use your selected market from Milestone One. As a reminder, the options for international markets are:
Republic of Korea
Canada
Germany
If you would like to use another country for your final project please reach out to your instructor.
Prompt
In this milestone, you will continue to use the Business Brief Template (located in the Guidelines for Submission section of this document). Complete Section Two and the Legal and Regulatory Considerations portion of Section Three. Use course resources as well as the INT 220 Library Guide to support your responses.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Market Profile: Explore and explain the cultural, political, and economic environment of your selected market to help inform future business decisions regarding expansion from the domestic market.
Cultural Profile: Compare and contrast important cultural elements of your selected market against those in the domestic market, including communication, dimensions of culture, attitudes, common business etiquette and practices, and at least five other important aspects of culture.
Political and Economic Profile: Compare and contrast important political and economic factors for your selected market against those in the domestic market, including political systems and ideologies, current leaders, economic measures or characteristics used in classification, and government intervention on trade.
Market Considerations: Discuss the legal and regulatory considerations in your selected market that can impact business decisions regarding expansion to new global markets. You should also consider corporate social responsibility for each market consideration.
Legal and Regulatory Considerations: Compare and contrast important legal and regulatory requirements of your selected market against those in the domestic market, including trade restrictions, regulations of products or services, legal processes for business transactions, and import restrictions or documentation.

Flexibility with the workplace

Technology has opened the door for flexibility within the workplace. Assume that I am your manager, write a memo convincing me to implement workplace flexibility in our business. You can decide what type of business we have, I would suggest using the type of job that you hope to have once you finish your degree. Make sure to provide research that supports your arguments. Included in your memo should be a specific request for the type of flexibility that you desire, explain how that will work within your office, and make sure to address any potential problems and how they would be dealt with. There is not a minimum length for this assignment, but you need to convince me that it is a mutually beneficial arrangement. You should have several sources to support your argument, show me that this has worked for other companies and explain the benefits to the company.

Chapters 14 and 15 are all about the situation and situational approaches to leadership theory. Your textbook authors look at the situation through the lens of organizational structure. Most of you are already familiar with concepts like departmentalization, centralization/decentralization, and organizational designs such as functional, product, geographic, and matrix.

Chapter 14 looks at the situational leadership theories, all of which are considered much more useful than either trait or behavioral theories today. Two important theories, contingency leadership by Fred Fiedler and Situational Leadership by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard are highlighted in this chapter.
Fiedler’s Contingency Leadership is historically the first real situational theory and is important from that standpoint.
Contingency Leadership Theory
Contingency Leadership Theory was the original situational leadership theory and belongs to a man by the name of Fred Fiedler. Study the model in your book and take notice of the three factors:
1. Leader-member Relations: How are the leader and followers getting along?
2. Position Power: How strong is the leader’s power?
3. Task Structure: Is the task stable and structured or dynamic and changing?
Depending on the situational favorableness, Fiedler teaches that you need either a task oriented leader (what he calls low LPC) or people oriented (high LPC). The LPC category comes from your score on his Least Preferred Coworker Questionnaire (LPCQ) which I, for one, find highly marginal to predict anything. Nevertheless, I think you can categorize people into either task-oriented or people-oriented.
The theory concludes that if the situation is highly favorable or highly unfavorable you need a task person to lead. Likewise if the situation is moderately favorable or unfavorable, you need a people person. This seems to make sense. If things are very bad, you need a take-charge, goal-oriented leader before you go out of business. If things are very good, interpersonal relations are already smooth, and a goal-setter can take you to the next place. I think, however, that most situations are somewhat in the middle and might demand someone with human relations skills.
The secret according to Fiedler is to match the person to the situation. Analyze the situation and hire or promote the right type of leader. Nor does he think that the average leader can change from one style to another. Leadership style, according to Fielder, is very much a matter of personality and hard to change. I agree. By the way, research to validate Fiedler’s model is generally positive.
Situational Theory
Situational Theory, according to Hersey and Blanchard, however, does not agree. These theorists are of the mind that leaders can and do change styles depending on with whom they are dealing. Situational Leadership is the most popular leadership theory of the day. It is very friendly, easy to understand, and many corporate staffs have received training in Situational Leadership. Study the model carefully in the book and note that the Asituation@ depends on the readiness level of the follower.
R1: Unable and unwilling
R2: Unable and willing
R3: Able but unwilling
R4: Able and willing
The four leadership styles that match these readiness levels are as follows:
S1: Requires Telling@ high task-low relationship
S2: Requires Selling@ high task-high relationship
S3: Requires Participating@ high relationship-low task
S4: Requires Delegating@ low relationship-low task

Module 6 Discussion Questions (due by Thursday)
Note: Please type the question and then the answer which should be about 250 words per question.
1. Provide a brief scenario when each of the Situational Leadership styles would be appropriate. Remember that the S1-S4 styles are used for very specific situations and not as overall styles.

Types of sources
At least six of these sources must be scholarly journals;
At least two sources must be publicly available on the Web.
Annotate the bibliography.
Summarize each source in a one-paragraph annotation. These annotations should provide brief overviews of the sources. Write a concise one paragraph annotation that summarizes the central theme and scope of the book or article.

Evaluate the authority or background of the author
Comment on the intended audience
Compare or contrast this work with another you have cited
Explain how this work illuminates your topic
The key points addressed in the source
An annotated bibliography is an organized list of sources (like a reference list). It differs from a straightforward bibliography in that each reference is followed by a paragraph length annotation, usually 100–200 words in length.

Diet project

Dietary analysis on yourself
Scope and purpose:
This project is designed to accomplish a number of goals:
 Familiarize you with how to calculate total nutrient intake.
 Recognize and understand any nutrient imbalances in your diet.
 Learn how to spot the foods you regularly eat that may be especially bad for you.
 Learn how to make recommendations for yourself to improve your dietary intake.
 Learn how to use the web-based dietary analysis tool, Super Tracker.
Instructions:
This project will require you to set up a free account with www.myfitnesspal.com to analyze dietary
information. There are options to pay for the service or use it for free. You do not need the things you
pay for this project. There is a very hand smartphone app that goes with it too. When you enter data,
take note of the entry date. Make sure the date is the first day of your dietary journal. To help you
along, there are some pretty good videos about how to use this program on you tube — just go to you
tube and search for myfitnesspal- https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=myfitnesspal and
see where that takes you. There is a great variety of really good how-to videos and some great stories
of how people got control of their diet using fitnesspal
Once you get it all together for all of the days of your journal you can create nutrient reports and various
charts. Use these charts and the recommendations it generates to investigate your eating habits – good
points and bad points. This will ultimately lead to your analysis of your diet and suggestions for yourself.
Copy and paste all the reports you can generate into a single word document. Do this for each of the 7
days of your dietary journal period. It may be important to do the charting and nutritional function after
each day’s entry and display / copy paste this info after each day, because you may not be able get back
to each day’s total nutrition info very well. After you have done this for all of the 7 days in your
nutritional journal, generate a graph of intake over time. Click on this and it will allow you to look at
your intake of all sorts of things. Copy and paste into your word document the ones you see as most
important. Make sure everything is clearly labeled AND ORGANIZED in your document – don’t just
paste in a bunch of charts with no explanation or names. A good intro and short explanation of each
part of the analysis then a nice detailed thoughtful final analysis will get you a good grade!
Now that you have all of the info saved in a word file, it is time to analyze it. Start by looking at and
comparing your intake of various nutrients and vitamins etc with the recommended intake for each. See
if anything really stands out that you are consistently (over this 7 day period) high or low on. This may
also merit you analyzing that particular nutrient over the time period, showing that info in the report
too.
Once you have analyzed the data, you must make some recommendations for yourself concerning what
to eat and not to eat. If you are consistently low on fiber, how low, and what could you do to improve
this? If you get too much sodium or not enough vitamin A, make recommendations concerning what
you could eat to change your diet for the better.
The report should end with a summation of your analysis and a set of specific recommendations
(involving specific foods) you should eat more of or less of.
Please note that part of this project is to learn how to use this analysis tool. I have led you in the right
direction and put enough info in the description of how to do this to hopefully keep you from getting too
frustrated at the program, but not enough for you to “cookbook” this project. You will have to figure
some of this out yourself, and explore a bit on the pages. Feel free to click around to find other things
this analysis tool can do. Other than that, be ready to get much more info than you would ever though
useful on your diet!
Deliverable:
By the due date, you must post it to the proper assignment portal in a MS Word document or PDF, with
the name of document being your last name and the name of the document (for example: reinhart
dietary analysis.doc). The document may end up being very long, due to all the graphs and tables the
website generates, that is fine and expected. MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDEYOUR COMPLETE DIETARY
JOURNAL IN THIS REPORT. Pay close attention to the analysis. This should be about 1 page worth of a
narrative citing actual data from your report. Reflect on your eating habits and how to make a positive
change. If you notice any problems in your diet, note those and come up with remedies you are willing
to actually try.
33% Organization. This includes ease of finding data in your report – everything must be clearly labeled
33% Completeness of data. Is every day’s nutritional info there? Are there charts for the entire week?
34% Analysis. You need a clear detailed analysis of your current state based on the data used here and
information gleaned from the study, and a very detailed set of suggestions for yourself. Really – just like
you were preparing this analysis for someone else to suggest tangible ways to improve their nutritional
intake based on the data analyzed in this report.. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT – DO WELL ON THIS!
(The 7 day journal should start 1/23/22) an explain how the 7 day journal should look besides the analyzed report are uploaded to files.
