Write a fully-developed central idea essay on the play “Fences” by August Wilson. Your essay should be in the proper format of a central idea essay (i.e. just like you would be writing one for the Regents)- you should cite evidence from the text and explain how the evidence supports your central idea. Look at the central idea essay templates for help, and remember that a proper central idea should be like a lesson that the author is trying to teach us! (It should not be one word or phrase, and you should be able to preface your central idea with the phrase “In life…(for example- some people build Fences to keep their loved ones close)”.

politic culture, conflict, norme iso, communication in total quality management

In this essay, you need to consider how internal politics and conflict can affect an organization as it completes a turn-around plan to ensure that the entire organization is focused on Total Quality. What should be the key elements in a turn-around plan? As the company completes its internal changes and structures to implement TQM, create a matrix that shows how ISO 9000 fits into the broader concept of quality management. Describe how the use of statistical tools and the whole concept of process improvement, problem solving by the rank and file, and empowerment—in short, the total quality culture—represents a profound change from the way things have been done in the past. Select one statistical tool and explain how it could be used to the company’s benefit.

Macbeth lore

according to folklore, Macbeth was cursed from the beginning. A coven of witches objected to Shakespeare using real incantations, so they put a curse on the play.
Legend has it the play’s first performance (around 1606) was riddled with disaster. The actor playing Lady Macbeth died suddenly, so Shakespeare himself had to take on the part. Other rumored mishaps include real daggers being used in place of stage props for the murder of King Duncan (resulting in the actor’s death).
The play hasn’t had much luck since. The famous Astor Place Riot in New York in 1849, caused by rivalry between American actor Edwin Forrest and English actor William Charles Macready, resulted in at least 20 deaths and over 100 injuries. Both Forrest and Macready were playing Macbeth in opposing productions at the time.
Other productions have been plagued with accidents, including actors falling off the stage, mysterious deaths, and even narrow misses by falling stage weights, as happened to Laurence Olivier at the Old Vic in 1937.
So how can you avoid catastrophe if you utter the play that shall not be named? Exit the theatre, spin around three times, spit, curse and then knock on the theatre door to be allowed back in…

Part of reading like a writer is examining the techniques used by the writer. For the piece you will be working with, we will be focusing on an examination of the technique of rhetorical appeal in formulating an argument. There are three rhetorical appeals most commonly used in argumentation: ethos, pathos, logos. See the image below:
LOGOS – the writer provides logic, reasoning, and proof to support his or her position. The writer will likely use evidence in the form of statistics, studies, supportive texts, etc.
ETHOS – the writer establishes credibility in order to gain the trust of the reader. This often involves the writer establishing him/herself as educated in the area being discussed and/or discusses credentials or qualifications. The writer may also choose words carefully and avoid ‘loaded words’ in order to establish and maintain the trust of the reader.
PATHOS – the writer appeals to the emotions and personal values of the reader. A writer might use personal anecdotes which carry emotional weight as ‘evidence’ in the piece. The writer will often choose words carefully to convey a particular emotion. The writer may even relay ideas that force the reader to confront his or her own value system and sense of right and wrong.
For this assignment, I would like you to choose ONE or TWO of the rhetorical strategies above (ethos, pathos, or logos) and write a one to two-page analysis on how Dr. King uses the strategy(ies) in his piece. You must provide references to the King text in your response either by way of quote/paraphrase or both. Please be sure to begin your analysis by identifying the social context from which the letter was created, who his audience is, and what his purpose is for writing. PLEASE NOTE: This is a homework assignment, not an essay.
