National Sex Offender Public Website Assignment!

http://www.nsopw.gov

The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) is an unprecedented public safety resource that provides the public with access to sex offender data nationwide. NSOPW is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Justice and state, territorial, and tribal governments, working together for the safety of adults and children. This is the work of decades of inter-departmental and intra-departmental cooperation and data exchange.

Assignment: A student researcher wants to utilize this website (http://www.nsopw.gov) as a way of gathering data for research involving sexual offenders. Would there be any ethical violations if the researcher utilized the names of offenders listed on this site? What, if anything, could the student do to use this site as a resource in their research? What would be a limitation of utilizing this site in research if I wanted to study sexual offenders across all 50 states?

What is the relationship between the partisan makeup of the state legislature and cigarette taxes?

My master’s program is in Public Administration – Non-Profit

other required documents are attached. The
name of this course is PPOL505: Applied Public Policy Research Methods: Public
Administration Praxis: Legal & Contemporary Issues (B01). Please be sure to
read all the documents in their entirety.

Write an annotated bibliography as a step toward your Research Paper.
Research Question-
Tax policy: What is the relationship between the partisan makeup of the state legislature and cigarette taxes?

This annotated bibliography will serve as the foundation upon which you will build your literature review and the rest of your research paper. An annotated bibliography helps you to organize your thoughts around the current body of literature on your topic.
INSTRUCTIONS
The requirements of this assignment are as follows:
• Your Annotated Bibliography must contain a title page and at least eight (8) scholarly sources in addition to the course readings.
• Four sources must be qualitative. Four sources must be quantitative. Each source must deal with the broad policy topic of your research question. Please include your research question at the top of the first page of text.
• Format of assignment is Turabian.
• All sources must be scholarly and should be, but are not required to be, no more than 15 years old. Most non-scholarly sources fall into one of the following categories:
o Periodicals – These are intended for a lay audience, not a scholarly audience, and are also known as magazines.
o Certain Websites – Many websites are not research-based and are, therefore, not scholarly (some examples of inappropriate sources are: Think Tank position papers, news reports, government agency reports, blogs, etc.). Be cautious when using web-based sources.

You can access scholarly journals and excellent research online via the Jerry Falwell Library; use this tool instead of relying on an Internet search engine.
For each source, you will provide the reference/citation in currentTurabian format, followed by 200 words that serve to summarize the source and what it will accomplish in your paper. Be sure to provide a summary of the source, not an evaluation. Consider the following questions as you summarize your sources:
• What are the main arguments?
• What is the point of the book or article?
• What topics are covered?
• If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say?

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

What is the difference between the present value of a future sum of money and the future value of a present sum of money? What is the significance of these concepts to economics?

Your niece just started her college career with a major in economics. She is curious as to the interrelationship between the success of an economy and the financial markets, concepts, and financial institutions. Accordingly, she has developed a list of questions addressing these issues and has asked that you explain the ideas.
What are the financial markets and what purposes do they serve?
What are financial intermediaries? How do these intermediaries function in the economy?
What is a federal government budget deficit? What is the national debt? How does a budget deficit affect the economy?
She is also curious about the time value of money concepts. Specifically, she has the following questions about these concepts:
Why are consumers considered to be risk averse? What methods could be used to deal with risk?
It has been said that a dollar received today is worth more than a dollar received tomorrow. What does this mean and what is the significance to the economy?
What is the difference between the present value of a future sum of money and the future value of a present sum of money? What is the significance of these concepts to economics?
If you deposited $1,000 in an account paying 6% interest compounded annually, how long would it take to double?
Deliverables:
Prepare a 5-6 page Microsoft Word document that addresses the above-noted concerns and meets APA standards.
Include a summary section in your report that contains 5-7 bullet points identifying your major findings or conclusions of your paper.

Autobiography and Epic Poetry

One of the most pervasive themes in Western Literature is that of blindness vs sight as a spiritual or moral allegory. Characters or figures in literature are often unable to see clearly because of some moral failure (what we Christians call sin) that impedes not physical sight, but their capacity for “seeing” reality as it truly is.
In an essay of at least 750 words (but please, no more than 1200) discuss this theme of spiritual blindness in Augustine and Homer. Where do you see figures such as Augustine or characters in The Odyssey display a failure in “vision,” of seeing reality as it truly is? What causes this deficiency? What are the consequences of such “blindness” to reality? How can this impediment be remedied, if at all?
In addition to the word count, please be sure to follow APA or MLA formatting carefully. Document all quotations carefully. No outside sources required (or desired) for this assignment. Concentrate on formulating an argument using the primary text as evidence. Since it is a significant component of your grade and a formal writing assignment, proofread and edit carefully. Avoid using first person (“I”) or second person (“you”) pronouns with your examinations.
Avoid excessive plot summary. Focus on answering the prompt using specific textual evidence to support your claims. Be sure to have a clear, guiding thesis at the outset (likely the first paragraph) that guides your response.
Note: Consult APA Central or OWL Purdue (links in course menu) to accurately employ the style guide associated with your major: APA or MLA. Review the Grading Rubric before you begin.

Informal theory of student development

Reflecting on the introductions, what seem to be central patterns, themes, and principles in what students said made the greatest impact on them? Lift general concepts from the specific stories. Beyond the characteristics of our class and their particular stories (check the attached file), what categories and principles can you extrapolate about what changes as people develop, what conditions precipitate change, and what process(es) might link the conditions and the changes? Please restrict your analysis to the material from the introductions.
The papers will be graded based on the following criteria (from most basic to most advanced):
Coherence (clear writing, structure, and arguments)
Ties of “theory” to “data” (your analytic comments to class stories)
Synthesis (patterns, commonalities/differences, outliers)
Analysis (themes, processes, abstract concepts, theoretical comments)

Course note

What is student development?

Student development is the application of the principles of human growth in the context of higher education. The applications of the principles of human growth in the context of higher education. It is used interchangeably to refer to the process of growth and change, the outcome of growth and change, what a developed person is, the intervention strategy intending to facilitate growth and change, and even some times, said a Minister of Offices in Services, charged with the responsibilities to the development of program. It’s like the office of Dean and Student Development.

Why student development?
To understand and assist human formation, for the sake of individual and communal flourishing. For interconnection.

Stories shared by the prof:
At the end of a winter break, a parent called me, raving about the fact that their first-year student came back after her semester, different. “I sent you a perfectly wholesome young girl, and she came home a cigarette smoking lesbian.”
There is a recent study, in which students were texted and prompted to do audio dialogue recordings about their experience as a first-generation low-income students at selective colleges. 80 students received the prompt “please share something that has affected the way you think about yourself”. And a student said, “the recording is a little under 5min, it that okay?”

Many students start college with this formula:
Step 1 – Figure out what everyone else is doing, how the majority of people like to portray their own identity, and how everyone else talks, dresses, behaves, etc.
Step 2 – Do exactly that. Even if you do not necessarily agree with it.
Step 3 – Do all those things so often that yu actually start to believe that is how you feel and think how you should behave.

Here is why we do this:
That those involved in student affairs, teaching, or counseling work will not only understand student development but will also be able to specify the conditions necessary to promote it, in deciding how to counsel, teach, or design educational practice.

Theories are organized stories of some phenomenon. Theories, like you and me, exist in historical, social, and cultural context.
