Objectives
By the end of this assignment, students will be able to
demonstrate how energy management systems can improve energy performance at participating buildings and/or facilities,
identify the key steps towards implementing the energy management system, and
assess the challenges and benefits of implementing an energy management system.
Description: National Resources Canada (NRCan) has been encouraging the implementing of ISO 50001 Energy Management for companies and organizations in Canada under their Canadian Industry Partnership for Energy Conservation(CIPEC) program. Similar to utility energy efficiency programs, NRCan (and other organizations) have provided incentives and support to encourage energy management system adoption. A number of organizations have completed the full implementation of ISO 50001 and NRCan has developed a series of case studies to documentation their experiences.

Visit NRCans Industry events and resources website and under the Case Study section, select one of the seven case studies of interest and review the case study.
Write a report (500-600 words) that is APA formatted and referenced.
The report should include the following information:
Identification of the case study reviewed
A brief description of the company / organization
An overview of the steps taken to implement the energy management system
An overview of the key elements of their energy management system
A description of the energy and non-energy benefits of implementing the energy management system, including the financial savings achieved
A description of some of the key barriers and success factors to implementing the energy management system
A review of the “Lessons Learned” and a discussion on how you, as an energy management professional, could apply those lessons in implementation an energy management system at another site or facility
