At various times in our presidential electoral history, a candidate has lost the General Election and then came back later to win the Presidency after losing it. We’ve also had a handful of candidates that have been nominated by their party on more than one occasion, only to lose the Presidency again.
Pick 1 of those instances below. Write a short paper (2-3 pages) that discusses the key components, issues of those elections and what in your opinion were the most important factors for candidate’s electoral comeback or if they lost, what were those factors for the repeat defeat??
Pick Two Of….
Election Comparison Paper
Richard Nixon (1960 vs. 1968) Comeback Winner
Adlai Stevenson (1952 vs. 1956) 2x Loser
William Jennings Bryan (1896 vs, 1908) 3x Loser, He also lost in 1900, but don’t analyze that one.
Grover Cleveland (1888 vs, 1892) Comeback Winner
Andrew Jackson (1824 vs. 1828) Comeback Winner

Watch and review

Watch and respond to Ibsen’s masterpiece, “A Doll’s House”, in a stunning production directed by Carrie Cracknell in 2012 at the Young Vic Theatre in London.
1. Length: 600 words
12-point font
Double-spaced, 1-inch margins
MLA format, paying attention to proper language and grammar
A title or headline that draws in both the curious and cautious reader
2. Start with the title of the play, the playwright, and who directed the production, followed by a very brief description (2-3 sentences) of what you think the play is about. Not the storyline or plot of the play, but what is the message? Why was this play written? What human condition does the play address?
3. Then discuss at least three aspects of the show that you liked as an audience member (look for what worked/went well for you/how you related to it). Consider the following elements of theater-
Script – Playwright
Direction – Theme/Concept
Performance – Voice/Body/Verisimilitude
Spectacle – Visual support of the script, theme, and performance
4. Explain what you found problematic about the show (focus here on specific aspects of the performance that you think could have been done differently or more effectively—again, this can include any elements of the production—maybe you loved the acting but the set let you down as an audience member, or the reverse).
5. Add any other thoughts/reflections you think might be pertinent to your experience as a spectator.Watch and respond to Ibsen’s masterpiece, A Doll’s House, in a stunning production directed by Carrie Cracknell in 2012 at the Young Vic Theatre in London.

Education Discussion Questions

Discussion questions:
Why did groups like Extinction Rebellion (XR), Fridays for Future (Greta Thunberg) and the Sunrise Movement emerge in the aftermath of the 2018 IPCC report (see Stuart, et al., 2020; also Han and Ahn, 2020), as they sought to push a message of “emancipatory transformation”? How have youth “climate strikers” used art and humor to try and communicate their messages (Mayes and Center, 2021)? In your opinion, how effective are tactics of “critical affective climate justice literacy,” and the use of appeals to emotions in climate change messaging (humor, but also anger, despair, grief and fear)? How have such movements sought to sharpen the “affective” dimensions of their organizing (Martiskainen et al., 2020)?
