Strategy Case Study Presentation
This MIT Sloan case study of Managed by Q, an office cleaning startup, describes a
successful new business on the verge of rapid growth and expansion. At the time of this
case study, Managed by Q needs to choose between a variety of growth strategies, each
with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. You must submit the response as a
video recording, with your face clearly visible, so that Quantic staff can verify your
identity. This project is to be completed individually.

Project Description
Create a slideshow and give a 5-10 minute oral presentation that analyzes the
competitive advantages of Managed by Q, evaluates its options for growth, and
ultimately makes a recommendation for how the company should expand. Your
arguments must be supported by the case study itself and you should use outside
resources to inform your industry and PEST analyses.

Here is a breakdown of what you must include in your presentation (in bold), along with
several questions you may want to consider:

Analyze the competitive advantages of Managed by Q.
What is the corporate philosophy of Managed by Q, and how does that
influence their ability to gain a competitive advantage?
What resources give Managed by Q a competitive advantage?
How might environmental factors (e.g., social, technological, economic, or
political trends) affect Q’s profitability and competitive advantage?
What threats exist to Managed by Q’s profits?
How can Managed by Q continue to grow in established markets, given
competition that may not use the same high-cost labor model?
Make a recommendation for how Managed by Q could most effectively grow
while maintaining or increasing its competitive advantage.
Which growth strategy (or strategies) should Managed by Q pursue, and
what evidence supports this decision? Consider the following:
What kinds of partnerships, alliances, mergers, or integration
strategies might Managed by Q consider?
What new markets might it enter, how might it increase revenue
from its current customers, and/or how could it increase market
share in its current market?
What are some of the reasonable alternatives to your recommended
strategy, and why is your strategy likely to perform better?
What strategic objectives and initiatives would best support this strategy?
How should the company track progress towards achieving them?
What are the possible disadvantages of this recommendation, and how
should they be managed?

Assignment Requirements
The presentation should be submitted via a recording where you are present and
visible on-screen AND your presentation is recorded on your screen
(“Screen+Cam”). Please follow the guidelines under Submissions and Grading to
record and submit a video through Loom.
The response should last around 5-10 minutes and respond to the case study
above.
You must create a slideshow supporting your arguments, and the final slide must
include a list of references. You may use Powerpoint, Keynote, or Google Slides to
build your presentation.
You may assume that the audience is familiar with the case study materials; avoid
explicit summaries of large portions of the case study materials.
In your presentation, you must:
Cite specific facts and examples from the case study to support your
answers, as well as any outside sources you may have used for your
industry and PEST analyses.

Your assignment is to write an essay to discuss the changes in forms of government across Europe, including the development of democracy in Athens, and show how democracy gave way to monarchy and autocracy in the Roman empire and later in Europe during the Middle Ages. In the essay, you should discuss what a democracy was in Athens, why Athenians worked towards the common good, and instituted measures to address corruption. Also, how and why did that democracy fail and give way to a monarchy? Be sure to define each term. What individual rights did citizens have under Augustus? Finally, how did monarchy look like for the people of Europe during the Middle Ages? How did Europeans push back to try to gain more individual rights using documents such as the Magna Carta?
The Magna Carta, also known as the Great Charter, was signed by King John at Runnymeade in a concession to his barons. What was the purpose of the Magna Carta? Who did the Magna Carta apply to? What legal changes were the barons trying to make or and what were they trying to emphasize to King John? How many times was it reissued? What has the Magna Carta become a symbol of? What other important documents in history are modeled on the Magna Carta?

Your essay will be graded on how well you (1) answer the questions posed; (2) develop a clear thesis statement and support it with evidence; (3) use proper citation; (4) use good English grammar and spelling to develop clear writing; and (5) explore the main ideas about democracy, monarchy, and the Magna Carta. The federal minimum wage is currently $7.25 an hour. That means that covered workers nationwide must receive $7.25 an hour. The administration of President Joe Biden is seeking to make $15 the national minimum wage. But this idea has run into some pushback in Congress.
Federal law allows states and localities to have a higher minimum wage and some places have done just that, increasing their minimum wage to $9 an hour or even an eventual $15 an hour. But Texas has not mandated a higher minimum wage.
Sometimes, companies drive a certain minimum wage. For example, Amazon’s minimum wage is around $15/hour in most of its locations. When Amazon locates a new facility in a city or town, existing employers are forced to pay more so that their workers don’t leave to work for Amazon.
But maybe those who want a higher minimum wage should consider Universal Basic Income (UBI) instead. Instead of raising the minimum wage, people below a certain income threshold would receive guaranteed monthly payments called Universal Basic Income (UBI).
