PowerPoint Rubric
You will be working as an Individual to create an
informative PowerPoint presentation over the History of Mental Illness.
You should go back as far as you can in history
to find recordings of mental illness (At least 3000BC). When possible
explain what era or people group or culture you are referencing.
How was mental Illness defined?
What behaviors were considered “abnormal?”
How did people explain the causation of MI?
Who would people go to seek help and or treatment for mental
disorders?
What kinds of explanations, treatments, or medicines were used? Why
were these preferred methods at this time? How did the explanation of causation
influence the treatment used?
How were people with “mental Illness” viewed and treated in
society? Were they seen as cursed,
sinful, possessed, sick, and fragile? What would life have been like being a
mental illness patient?
Go into detail explaining how the treatments were
created and used, and why people believed they were effective.
Each project should have all sources cited at the
end of their PowerPoint using APA guidelines.
The minimum amount of slides is 40. Slides should not
be filled with words that are difficult to read or understand the information.
Please think about what you like to see on a slide when you’re in the audience.
Think about how much is too much? Is this overwhelming to look at? This will
include your reference slides.
Complete projects will address the questions
about and demonstrate that the group spent time researching, thinking, and
supporting their ideas. Illustrations, pictures, videos to demonstrate your
ideas are encouraged!
PowerPoints should show the growth and scientific
understanding of the brain and behavior as time progresses and should discuss
major laws, research breakthroughs, and technological inventions that have led
to this understanding. Hint: One you get in the 1900’s things change
rapidly!!!
Grades will be determined as follows:
80% Content: Were the questions and directions on
rubric addressed?
10% Style: Is the information easy to understand? Is
it visually appealing? Does the content flow in a logical manner.
10% Format: Are references listed in APA format.
Are all sources including pictures, videos, content cited?
You need to cover the dates of 3000 B.C. to the current day. The
slide count I gave you is the Minimum count, to earn an A you will have more
slides than the minimum. You can go online and look up timelines for the history of
mental health. There are many good ones online. You can use any online sources,
but please do not use Wikipedia for your information. The timeline is fine- but
go elsewhere for information about that time, era, etc.
You need to cite all information, pictures, sources you use.
Pictures should be cited on the actual slide. The rest of the information
should be on your reference page. You need to use APA Ed 7 as a format.
In the early years 5000-3000 BC you will cover many years,
1000 at a time. By the time you get to the 1700s, there are many dates and you
will have main groups of information. When you get to the 1900’s the
information goes by decades and from the 1940s to the current things can change by
the year. Look for laws that are implemented, medications that are used and
discovered. Make sure you follow the rubric I provided and try to answer all
the questions I gave you for each main area.

Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Research Paper and Discussion

Purpose of assignment: The student will learn the importance of chemistry and its contributions to society.

Assignment Instructions: Identify a Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (can be from any year).

Write an essay describing the importance of his/ her discovery that led to the winning of the prize.

The topis is Electoral College. The paper is to be a minimum of 1500 words and multiple paragraphs including an introduction and conclusion. It is imperative that if you use an idea or quote from a source in the body of your paper that you either footnote it or put the source and page number in parenthesis after the statement. Arguments for continuing to use it AND arguments for abolishing it; 5. Arguments for changing or eliminiating the electoral college; 6. What alternatives have been suggested; 7. Examples of elections where popular vote and electoral college results differed. 8. The student association speakers and issues committee at your college or university has announced it has signed a contract to bring a famous white supremacist to speak at the student union. He is being paid $5,000 plus expenses and is expected to bring in a large crowd.
The speaker is the self-proclaimed head of a group called the White People’s Militia. This group is believed responsible for hate crimes across the western U.S., including hateful graffiti, physical disruption of Martin Luther King Day remembrances. The speaker advocates forced removal of African, native, Hispanic and Asian-American peoples from the former Confederate States. These states would then form a single, male dominated white region affiliated with the U.S.
He has also spoken regularly about how he and his movement have declared themselves immune to local, state, and national laws. Some members of his group have had violent clashes with local law enforcement authorities and violence has occasionally broken out at his appearances.
His appearance on your campus has provoked a huge controversy on the campus and in the community. Various elements have put incredible pressure on the university president to forbid his appearance.
What advice do you give the president? Write the President of your University (you can make one up or use WC) giving him some case related evidence and advice. Using Supreme Court cases that deal specifically with FREEDOM OF SPEECH cases, defend your advice. For example if you are going to advice against the speakers appearance on your campus, give examples of free speech cases that indicate his speech could, and should be prevented. If you are going to advise he be allowed to speak on campus, site Supreme Court cases that allow freedom of controversial speech.
This letter should be at least 3 pages and for full credit, should site at least three cases.

As nurses, we need to find effective ways to handle our stress. Explain how stress has affected you personally. How do you manage stress in your life? Are there other activities you could incorporate into daily routine to reduce stress?

Discussion
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (as cited in American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2019), over 200,000 new RNs will be needed each year through 2026 to replace nurses who retire and to fill new positions. National Council of State Boards of Nursing and The Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers (as cited in American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2019) reported that about 51% of today’s RNs are 50 years old or older. These are dramatic numbers and represent a challenge for future nurse leaders and managers.
If you were a nurse leader or manager, how would you retain the nurses you have? How would you recruit additional nurses? In your opinion, what do you think the future of the nursing workforce will look like in 50 years?

Greetings, I have submitted a couple of examples of the topic and how I responded. I chose to use the mixed method design to conduct the proposal. I would like for the research to follow that method. I placed 3 three references as a part of the research. The reference page is not included in my 8-10 page research proposal paper.
