Also bear in mind that financial or managerial support for a project often has as much to do with the individuals leading the project as with the concept. Backers
need to be convinced of project leaders’ and key staff’s ability to be the face and drivers of the idea, as well as of their honesty and integrity. Since you are
presumably one of the key team members, how you present is just as important as what you present in building audience trust. Be sure to communicate clearly
and professionally throughout.

1) Paul Laurence Dunbar’s poem, “We Wear the Mask,” contains the famous lines:

This poem recalls a moment in history when African Americans were forced to conceal their true thoughts and feelings or risk their lives attempting to communicate them to whites. The speaker in Dunbar’s “Antebellum Sermon” demonstrates the manner in which enslaved Africans both heeded and skirted around the unwritten rule that one’s real thoughts and feelings were best kept to one’s self. Dunbar’s poem, “Philosophy,” however, seems to directly contradict the ideas in “We Wear the Mask.” Write a 4-page, typewritten, double-spaced essay that discusses the debate taking place in these poems between strategic concealment of one’s thoughts and feelings and boldly asserting them.

We based some of this discussion on the TED Talk, “The Danger of A Single Story”, which highlighted stereotypes based on, for example, ethnicity, race and nationality. Julia Middleton’s Ted Talk and reading illustrated how leaders who have CQ or Intercultural Competence are better at communicating and working across (bridging) cultures.
Based on these discussions consider what you feel people at your internship / host location’s pre and or first impressions of you might be, and also consider how these impressions might be different to how you see yourself. You may also wish to discuss how people in the states may at first view you, like, for example, when you started college, and how they might see and or understand you today having gotten to know you better.
In this assignment, you need to argue how developing CQ will help you to firstly, better understand your internship host employees and supervisor and possibly clients and secondly, be more productive and accurate in your work. About Me:
I was born and raised In saudi Arabia but originally from Gambia, I went to an all American/British school. I speak multiple languages meaning no one can guess my accent. I moved to the united states when I was 19 for college. My first experience with someone questing my English was in a speech class , when I was asked to introduce my self and I was I spoke English well, which to me was surprising as I knew I had more vocabulary than most people in my class. I am currently doing an Intership in Austrlia, I think my work mates view me as full American because of my lack of accent, maybe my name gives it away.
