Requirements
The Guided Essay 4 assignment is worth 200 points. It will be graded on the use of citations, use of Standard English grammar, sentence structure, and overall organization based on the required components as summarized in the directions and grading criteria/rubric.
Create your essay using Microsoft Word (a part of Microsoft Office), which is the required format for all Chamberlain College documents. You can tell that the document is saved as an MS Word document because it will end in “.docx.”

Read the following article:
Knight, C. (2015). Trauma-Informed Social Work Practice: Practice Considerations and Challenges. Clinical Social Work Journal, 43, pp. 25-37.
Write a 3-5 page essay addressing the following components (use level 1 heading to organize your essay):
Describe the concept of trauma-informed practice and the importance of a professional relationship.
Discuss the practical considerations for implementing a trauma-informed practice.

For this assignment, you are tasked with designing a senior living community. Given the biological, psychological, and social aspects of aging, you are asked to answer these questions:
What would your senior living community look like?
How would it be laid out, and why?
What levels of care would you provide, and what sort of amenities would you offer?
For this project, you are asked to apply what you have learned to make educated, smart, and creative decisions in designing a senior living community. While it will be important for you to discuss the structure and layout of the community, there is quite a bit of flexibility granted with this project so you may focus on areas you find most important and/or most interesting. In this unit you studied two example of communication theory in a critical tradition, Habermas’s ideal speech situation and Deetz’s systematically distorted communication in corporations. For this application, you may use either or both theories.
As mentioned in the Overview, Deetz uses Habermas’s framework as a base for his theory of systematically distorted communication. You might think of Deetz as describing how participation in the production of meaning gets closed and think of Habermas as indicating the kind of practices that keep us involved in the production of meaning.

In this application, develop a well-crafted essay, of at least 500 words, that uses the work of Habermas and/or Deetz to assess the argument made by Michael Pollan about animal rights.
The issue is not whether or not you support animal rights. The issue is how well Pollan discursively redeemed his claims or used speech acts to achieve discursive closure.
You should use at least two detailed examples to support your evaluation of Pollan’s argument.
In this application, use at least one authoritative source to support your analysis. The source may be academic or popular. Include bibliographic information in your essay and in a works cited section.

The practical application for Unit 3 is 17.5 points.

The purpose of this assignment is to write an abstract for your capstone project. The function of an Abstract is to provide a brief, descriptive summary of the essay/report. The structure required for the critical review:

1. INTRODUCTION: Starts with opening sentences that state the writer, the title and give a brief explanation of the topic of the text. The aim of the text and a summary of the main findings or key argument are presented. At the end of the introduction, a brief statement of the evaluation of the text is given.

2. SUMMARY: Gives a summary of the main points of the article and a few examples. A brief explanation of the writer’s purpose and the organization of the text can also be added. This section of the critical review should be no longer than one third of the whole.

3. MAIN BODY (CRITIQUE): Discusses and evaluates the strengths, weaknesses and important features of the text. The discussion should be based on specific criteria and include other sources to support it (with references).

4. CONCLUSION: Concludes the review with a restatement of the overall opinion of the text. It can also include recommendations and some further explanation of the judgement to show that it is fair and reasonable. REFERENCES A list of references should be included at the end if other sources have been used.
