Intercultural Communication Paper

Instructions:
1. Conduct research and choose a cultural controversy that you feel strongly about. Write an essay to describe and analyze it: What is the nature of the controversy? Who are involved? What are their major arguments? What are the cultural values and contexts behind the arguments? Why is this controversy important?
Note that not every controversy is a cultural controversy. Many controversies are more related to politics, policy making and economics than culture. You need to first justify your topic during your research, and if you cannot, please find another topic.
Instead of taking a stance, I encourage you to remain neutral and present different positions and arguments in this paper.
2. Topic check: 10 points
Come up with a topic and a brief rationale (250 words maximum) for your research in this section. Identify the key areas of your research and include at least 3 credible sources. This step provides you an opportunity to make sure that you are on the right track and to receive feedbacks for further research.
4. The Essay: 100 points
The research paper should be 3,500-4,000 words in length excluding the references at the end. Your paper should include a title, your name and the course information. An abstract is not required. Here is where you’ll answer number 1 in depth.
You are expected to use at least 10 key concepts from the textbook. That is, you should be able to apply the theories and concepts learned from our class to analyze this cultural controversy. Please highlight the key concepts/theories in bold and cite the source including respective page numbers in the text. For example:
The outpouring support for this ethnic group can be best explained by the ABC theory/concept (Jandt, 2019, p. 17).
5. References: 30 points
Your essay must include a minimum of 10 outside credible references (in addition to the textbook) coming from a diverse group of authors. At least five of these references should be peer-reviewed. Please cite your references in APA and include references at the end of your paper. Your references weigh 30 points, which will be evaluated based on the quantity (at least 10 outside sources), quality (peer-reviewed journal articles, credible news sources, etc.) and format ( APA style).
The text book is:

Exploring EBP Quality Improvement

In a paper of 6 pages, plus cover page and references page, include the following:
Describe the three health care settings (preferably mental health related) that you explored as proposed sites for an EBP QI project. For each health care setting, identify the following defining features: patient population, mission, public or private entity, single institution or member of a corporation, and others you identify as significant.
Compare the settings for strengths and weaknesses as sites for an EBP QI project. Be specific and provide examples.
Explain the practice problems that you explored based on your interests and identified needs of the health care settings you investigated.
Explain why each problem is a potential focus for an EBP QI project. Be specific and provide examples.
For each health care setting, describe the stakeholders whose approval would be required to initiate an EBP QI project and implement the results.
Compare similarities and differences in stakeholder requirements across the settings.
Identify the one proposed health care setting/practice site and one proposed practice problem you have selected as the focus of a hypothetical presentation to stakeholders and explain your choices.
Part 2: Implementation Science Presentation
Develop a PowerPoint presentation of 3–5 slides, plus cover and reference slides, to inform a set of potential stakeholders at the practice site you have identified for a proposed EBP QI project. Although you will not make your presentation, it should be authentic to the purpose and include the following:
Introduce the framework or model you have selected for the EBP QI project and reasoning. (1 slide)
Present a draft of the proposed practice problem. Include notes for each slide describing points you would make to the assembled stakeholders to obtain their approval or buy-in for the EBP QI project. (2 slides)

Computer Software

Your manager at work is extremely impressed with your computer skills since you took a computer course. The company is installing computers in its production facility, and she has asked you to create a brief PowerPoint presentation that shows tips for working in the new software. Specifically, she wants the layout and topics for the presentation to be organized as shown below.
Slide 1: Include a title slide.
Slide 2: Describe the basics of computer software and what software does.
Slides 3–4: Describe basic functions and techniques that will be used when creating and editing documents in Microsoft Word.
Slides 5–6: Provide what you think are the top tips for creating aesthetically pleasing PowerPoint presentations.
Slide 7: Outline the basics of opening a blank workbook and using Formulas to work with data in Microsoft Excel.
Slide 8: Discuss some basic features of Microsoft Access (e.g., tables, queries, forms) and how employees might utilize this software to track production.
Slide 9: Include a reference slide.
Not all of your information will be presented on the slides. You are required to use the Notes function to add information to further explain the material on your slides. Your presentation must use at least one outside resource. Be sure to cite any sources used in the slides, and include a reference slide using proper APA formatting.

death penalty

For this Assignment you need to 1. state the question you are going to answer for the final essay (you can change this at a later date as we move through the course) 2. indicate the themes you will need to cover, for example, if you were going to focus on left realism the themes you might want to cover could be as follows: the names of key authors; key components of the theory; influence; a consideration of the criticisms of this approach (you do not have to go into detail for this stage just indicate those areas you think will be important). 3. a list of key source materials – i.e. what literature are you going to use to answer the question. As noted in the ‘Final Essay’ section I am fully aware that not all of the course sections are open so it is difficult to decide on a topic – this is largely a ‘brain-storming’ exercise, to get you thinking and gathering material outside of that provided on blackboard.
1. Describe the main components of ONE of the following theories and discuss its usefulness in terms of our understanding of crime and/or the sociology of deviance.
Labeling theory
Key themes: Prison, Death penalty, minorities, poverty, violence.
Why did Beccaria oppose the death penalty? Do you think it should be seen as a relic of a by-gone society and thus be abolished or should it be retained? Remember to justify your answer by using the literature
My main focus is to look into the death penalty system and see why many oppose the plan, using numerous scholarly articles to prove my agreement with Beccaria. I am against the death penalty, and I feel like it is unjust because many people who go on trial do not have proper representation; therefore, they are misrepresented. Another focus is statistics on the number of death penalties in the United States and comparing the social class. This is the idea I have for now didn’t brainstorm in depth.

Discuss the similarities and differences in the human service provider’s role in the treatment process.

Course Description:
This course will cover the study of current treatment modalities essential in drug and alcohol abuse or dependency counseling. Current treatment modalities such as the Matrix Model, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will be explored. The course will also cover additional treatment theories, implications, and options that are critical to effective addiction treatment. Issues in regard to the various stages of recovery will be discussed in addition to effective treatment methods based on the length of sobriety explored. Prerequisite: HSV 534

Theory 1: Stages of Change
Theory 2: Motivational Enhancement/Interviewing

Please provide a brief (1 paragraph for each theory) summary of the key aspects of the theory. Afterward, please COMPARE and CONTRAST the two theories chosen by addressing the following:

⦁ Similarities and differences in general theoretical concepts, principles, and agents of change
⦁ Similarities and differences in stages associated with treatment according to teach theory (e.g. beginning, middle, and termination stages, etc.)
⦁ Similarities and differences in creating positive change to promote recovery through the concepts of the theories.
⦁ Similarities and differences in approaching obstacles in the treatment process.
⦁ Similarities and differences in the human service provider’s role in the treatment process.
⦁ Other similarities and differences in the treatment process that are noteworthy

Please title your paper listing the names of both theories such as, “Matrix Model vs. Solution Focused Therapy.

As
you are aware, Unit 7 has your second paper requirement due. Clear organization of the assignment is an absolute necessity to ensure high quality. In organizing your paper, I am requiring that you employ the grading rubrics as subheadings on your paper.

Specifically, the 7 subheadings for your paper will be:

General theoretical concepts, principles, and agents of change
Similarities and differences of stages associated with treatment
Similarities and differences associated with positive change
Approaching obstacles in the treatment process
Human service provider’s role in the treatment process.
Other similarities and differences in the treatment process
Conclusion

I
am requiring this for three reasons: (1) using these subheadings will
provide a clear organization to the assignment; (2) in so doing it will
increase probability that each required category will be addressed
(thereby likely increasing your grade) and; (3) the reviewing and
grading process by me will be more consistent across students.

Each written assignment will consist of a paper that is at least 6 full pages. Each paper must be double spaced with size 12 Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins on all sides. You will need to follow the example provided under course information and need a title page, body (at least 6 full pages), and reference section all in APA style. Please use complete sentences, appropriate grammar, spelling, and references. You will also be required to use in-text references in your work in accordance with APA style to avoid plagiarism. Information to help with your writing is provided under the APA resources section of the course information tab.
Please be sure to avoid using internet sources such as Wikipedia or other web-based resources that do not have strong academic backing. You must use at least 3 additional scholarly sources not used in this course. Plagiarism detection software will be used to scan each paper and any paper that is determined to have academic integrity issues will earn a score of 0 automatically.
