What are the implications of speaking up or not speaking up?

Main post 250 words

Please review the scenario below and answer the corresponding questions after that scenario:
SCENARIO: Imagine you work at an ad agency and your team is charged with coming up with the name for BeautyBeess latest perfume. You have been with the company for 6 months. The branding team has been brainstorming for the last 2 hours, filling up pages and pages of the flipchart with innovative, imaginative names. Feeling daunted by how loudly, quickly, and assertively branding team members are shouting out suggestions, you decide to sit this one out, even though you have some ideas. You are uncomfortable shouting over everyone else and you reason that the group would discount your input anyway. Plus, everyone else is generating so many good names that the group is bound to succeed regardless of your input.
What Do You Think?
Is your lack of participation ethical? Why or why not?
What are the implications of speaking up or not speaking up?
Would you change your answer if youd been with the company for 10 years instead of 6 months?

I’m going to have to jump at the questions first being that I cant really relate to this in any way. Due to the fact I am very outspoken and would never sit one out. For every idea counts and if my idea was cast aside it wouldn’t bother me at all. Part of the reason I am outspoken goes with my lack of filters and empathy for others or their thoughts of me if you don’t like my ideas tough s___ I spoke them anyways.
As for lack of participation being ethical= I believe not in any idea being brainstormed every idea counts this also goes back to the first module of work place diversity sitting one out would put your ideas based on life experiences left out and less likely to be understood
Now as for the implications of speaking up or not= Leaving your self secluded just makes you seem reclusive to the group, and as I said i am very outspoken , but I don’t care what what people think of me or my ideas take it or leave it. I personally like people who speak out and what to be heard. Nobody really want someone quite and reserved that’s kind of scary and creepy, I mean look at almost every school, or workplace shooting its almost always the one who was quiet and kept to themselves.
Now finally would my answer change based on my time with the company= No way, I do understand for some people they have to be somewhere for awhile to feel comfortable and my experience has shown me that time is usually between 9 months to a year by that time the person has found who they can talk to and trust to talk too, basically find their “click”. As for me I would let you know about me on the first day.

I am sure some if not all of us have experienced this type of situation throughout our careers. It usually comes along with your first “career” like job per say. I personally feel like no one truly likes top be the new person. Now as some of us grow older we develop the I really don’t care what people think about me attitude. I would say personally that’s where I am, I have been the new person a few different times and I would say each time its a little easier to hit the ground running depending on how welcoming your employer makes you feel.
I would not think for a newer employee that lack of participation is unethical. I honestly think that is some what expected when you have a new hire. Everyone is a little different in how they start to grow into a seasoned employee some faster than others depending on skill set and how comfortable they are.
Now for this example I believe the employee should share some ideas if they truly could have helped the group out. I think these types of situations would be great for a new employee because it is as simple as brainstorming ideas. I have seen some instances from a technical career standpoint where newer employees will trey to do something they have no idea what there doing and what the possible hazards it may cause if they don’t fully understand.
Yes, I would change my answer absolutely. I would expect at 10 years the employee may be even leading the meeting or at least being a mentor to other new hires and always remember this time and maybe share that with the employee to make them feel more comfortable and welcoming to the team.

What factors contribute to Samuels poor appetite and intake?

Respiratory Stress Impact on Nutrition-Case Study
Samuel was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) 7 years ago and has had recurrent bronchitis over the past 40 years. He is 68 years old, 5 ft. 9 in. tall, and weighs 134 pounds. About three years ago he had a normal adult weight of 150 to 155 pounds. He has lost 7 pounds in the last month due to lack of appetite and early satiety. He complains of a dry mouth, and that food has lost its taste. He is currently on multiple medications, including a bronchodilator, an inhaler, and an antibiotic. He uses oxygen as needed. During his recent hospitalization for pneumonia, the dietitian told him he should be eating at least 2000 calories, but he doesnt have the energy to prepare or eat that much food. His usual intake is as follows:
Breakfast: Coffee with creamer, 2 pieces of white toast with jelly
Lunch: Cheese and crackers, banana, coffee with creamer
Dinner: Canned soup with oyster crackers, ice cream, coffee with creamer
Group 1: What factors contribute to Samuels poor appetite and intake?
Group 2: What specific strategies would you recommend he implement to improve his intake?
Group 3: Evaluate Samuels current BMI and normal adult weight. Calculate his percent weight loss over the past month. Is it significant?

It is an important aspect of nursing care to apply nutritional information to each patient’s unique situation. If we do not assess the patient, our knowledge is ineffective. The parameters of developmental level, health status, gender, cultural diversity, and belief systems must be assessed. This discussion question allows you to explore this in more depth.
This question will incorporate the course learning outcome:
