How the Courts Address or Respect Our Rights as Citizens – Outlin
Instructions
This assignment is comprised of 2 parts, the first of which is due this week. Part II will be due in Week 7.
In Part I this week, choose a case from your state (Pennsylvania) that involves civil rights or civil liberties that wound its way up to the United States Supreme Court. If your state does not have a case that ended up in the United States Supreme Court, choose a civil rights case from another state that ended up in the Supreme Court of the United States.
Here is a brief description of civil rights and civil liberties: Civil rights refers to equal social opportunities under the law. It gives you these freedoms such as the right to vote, the right to public education, or a fair trial, among other things, regardless of your wealth or race. Civil liberties mean freedom of religion, equal treatment and due process under the law, and the right to privacy.
You should be able to go online and look up your state and famous cases that ended up in the Supreme Court. For example, Brown v Board of Education (1951) started in Topeka, Kansas and ended up in the Supreme Court of the United States. Another example would be Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley v Steve Sisolak, Governor of Nevada (2020) that started in Nevada and ended up the United States Supreme Court.
Research your court case and write an outline of the case that you will be using to prepare a presentation (for next week’s assignment)
This week’s assignment should include (a) summary of the case, and (b) a case outline
A. Summary of the Case
In one or two paragraphs, provide a general overview of the case that serves as a snapshot of what the case is about and how it ended up in your state high court. A summary is using your words to write a brief history of the case. Do not give your opinion or your interpretation but stick to the facts only.
B: Case Outline
Your court case outline should include:
Title: Name of the case
Facts of the case: Provide key facts involving the case.
History of the case: What legal action was taken based on what your state laws say about this case?
Legal questions: What were the legal issues the court had to decide?
Decision or holdings: Did the court decide for the plaintiff or the defendant? Explain the reason behind the decision?
Verdict and opinion (judgement): What were the concurring and dissenting opinions? How many judges decided for the defendant and how many justices decided against the defendant? What was the final verdict from the judge or the jury, if it was a jury trial?
Summary: What was the resulting impact of the ruling? How did the citizens of your state benefit from it? Make sure to not give our opinion but stick to the facts only. This summary just gives a brief rundown of the case and conclusion only, just the
Writing Requirements (APA format)
The length of your outline will vary. Usually an outline is anywhere from 1-3 pages long. Make sure to write full sentences to explain your case. It is a concise list to be used as a reference for you during the presentation.
Using the outline, you will be describing the court case in your presentation and the scenario around the court case. The use of Wikipedia as a primary source of information is to be avoided – it is not a reliable source of information.
Search for an example of a case outline in the Internet. Without going into much detail at this state, each of the items listed above has a subject sentence with 3-6 bullet points that can help you expand on the topic.
This assignment is worth 200 points.

Tv and Family
Directions: In Module 8 we have been learning about the family, marriage, the culturally defined roles of men and women in the family, and how the family has changed over the years in both the United States and the global community. But, does the mass media impact our views of family? Lets have some fun and explore mass media and the family in this critical thinking assignment by looking at cultivation theory.
Cultivation theory, which was developed by media researchers, suggests that there are consistent images, themes, and stereotypes that cut across programming genres. As a whole, these different media images cultivate a view of the family and gender roles that is consistent. Thus, viewers who watch comedies, soap operas, reality shows, news stories and weekly news programs, sporting events, dramas, and late-night television programs will develop similar and consistent views.
Unfortunately, these media views of the family and gender roles are oftentimes partially or completely incorrect and widespread. Males are generally viewed as more ambitious and successful than women, and women are more nurturing and emotional than men. Similarly, the view of the family presented in Leave it to Beaver, The Brady Bunch, Roseanne, The Crosby Show, The Simpsons, and Modern Family has influenced generations of viewers thoughts about the typical family system in the United States. The family has never been as perfect as we were led to believe by the Cleaver family of Leave it to Beaver, and it is generally not as dysfunctional as is presented in The Simpsons.
Your task in this assignment is to look at one of your favorite network or cable shows and discuss the view of the family and gender roles that may be created from the show. After you have read Chapter 13(read chapter 13 in bold letters)

Click on the link and then scroll down to click on the Sociology, 2e text. It will give you the option to read the text online or to download it as a pdf file. and learn about the family, complete this assignment:
Describe and discuss your favorite show and how it depicts the family, marriage, and gender roles. Be sure to give specific examples from the show and the characters so that anyone who has never seen the show can fully understand your views and comments.
Is the family depicted as what is considered traditional, why or why not? Single parent household? Nuclear or extended? Stepfamilies or blended families? Is it a patriarchal, matriarchal, or egalitarian family?
What roles do men and women play in the family? What roles do children play? What roles do men and women play in the household chores and income earning? Who takes the responsibility for child rearing? Who does inside chores and who does outside chores?
What about Marriage? Is marriage or divorce depicted? What about cohabitation? Are there heterosexual or homosexual relationships? Are the relationships depicted as monogamy, serial monogamy, polygamy or polyandry?
Write your answer as one 3-5 paragraph essay. Your essay should be at least 500 words and appropriately have an introduction, body, and conclusion.
Note: It is ok if you don’t normally watch TV. You can use a Netflix show, a movie, a YouTube channel…just as long as there is a family depicted and you can relate it to the concepts learned in this module.
Submission
You will only be allowed to submit one version of this assignment. You may either upload a file or use the text submission offered in Canvas. You will not be allowed to submit the assignment past the due date.
Grading
This assignment is worth 100 points or 10% toward your final grade. You will be graded on presentation of ideas and how you relate you discuss the gender roles in the family presented in the TV show. Spelling and punctuation will be taken into account but only worth 10 points of the total 100 points.
Patient, Family, or Population Health Problem Solution
Develop an intervention (your capstone project), as a solution to the patient, family, or population problem you’ve defined. Submit the proposed intervention to the faculty for review and approval. This solution needs to be implemented (shared) with your patient, family, or group. You are not to share your intervention with your patient, family, or group or move on to Assessment 5 before your faculty reviews/approves the solution you submit in Assessment 4. In a separate written deliverable, write a 5-7 page analysis of your intervention.
Please submit both your solution/intervention and the 5-7 page analysis to complete Assessment 4.
Introduction
In your first three assessments, you applied new knowledge and insight gleaned from the literature, from organizational data, and from direct consultation with the patient, family, or group (and perhaps with subject matter and industry experts) to your assessment of the problem. Youve examined the problem from the perspectives of leadership, collaboration, communication, change management, policy, quality of care, patient safety, costs to the system and individual, technology, care coordination, and community resources. Now its time to turn your attention to proposing an intervention (your capstone project), as a solution to the problem.
Preparation
In this assessment, youll develop an intervention as a solution to the health problem youve defined. To prepare for the assessment, think about an appropriate intervention, based on your work in the preceding assessments, that will produce tangible, measurable results for the patient, family, or group. In addition, you might consider using a root cause analysis to explore the underlying reasons for a problem and as the basis for developing and implementing an action plan to address the problem. Some appropriate interventions include the following:
Creating an educational brochure.
Producing an educational voice-over PowerPoint presentation or video focusing on your topic.
Creating a teaching plan for your patient, family, or group.
Recommending work process or workflow changes addressing your topic.
Plan to spend at least 3 direct practicum hours working with the same patient, family, or group.
In addition, you may wish to complete the following:
Review the assessment instructions and scoring guide to ensure that you understand the work you will be asked to complete and how it will be assessed.
Conduct sufficient research of the scholarly and professional literature to inform your work and meet scholarly expectations for supporting evidence.
Note: Remember that you can submit all, or a portion of, your draft assessment to Smarthinking for feedback, before you submit the final version. If you plan on using this free service, be mindful of the turnaround time of 2448 hours for receiving feedback.

System Integration Requirements
In the fast-paced, evolving enterprise environment, there is a need to integrate systems, whether with recently acquired organizations or with the latest off-the-shelf technology. The challenge seems insurmountable without some formalized approaches, tools, techniques, and best practices to support the effort. You will select a manageable systems integration project so that you will have practice with all phases of the systems integration process, from determining enterprise integration requirements through the final implementation planning.
Project Selection
The first step will be to select an enterprise as the target for your systems integration project, along with a list of the major systems to be integrated within the target organization. This project will be used as the basis for each of the assignments throughout the course and should conform to the following guidelines:
Nontrivial: The selected enterprise should be large enough to reflect the need to integrate systems.
Domain knowledge: You should be familiar enough with the organization to allow you to focus on its systems integration needs.
Select an enterprise that fits these requirements, and submit your proposal to your instructor before proceeding further with the assignments in the course. Approval should be sought within the first few days of the course. Your instructor will tell you how to submit this proposal and what notification will be given for project approval.
Assignment Guidelines
For the assignments in this course, you will be developing a comprehensive Systems Integration Design Proposal as your project. Your first task in this process will be to select an enterprise to use as the basis of your project. You will also create the shell document for the final project deliverable, which you will be working on during each unit. As you proceed through each project phase, you will add content to each section of the final document to gradually complete the final project delivery. Appropriate research should be conducted to support the analysis in your report, and assumptions may be made when necessary.
Following is an outline for the comprehensive design proposal that will evolve throughout the course. This deliverable will be created in incremental steps. For Week 1, submit the following for review by your instructor: the proposal shell and completed sections Project Information, Project Plan, and System Integration Best Practices, labeled “Week 1.” The Requirements Specifications section will be completed and delivered during Week 2, and so on.
New Content (Week 1)
Project Information
Provide a brief description of the enterprise (can be hypothetical) where the system integration design proposal has the potential of being adopted.
Describe the overall project objectives.
List the business or technical needs that will be met by the project.
List the major components of the project (major systems that will be integrated).
This list may change after further analysis is completed.
List the boundaries of the project (what the project will not address).
Material can be taken from the approved proposal that you submitted.
Be sure that this project is approved by the instructor.
Project Plan
This contains the work breakdown structure (WBS) for all of the tasks that will be required to complete the project.
Determine the start and completion dates (within the course’s start and end dates).
List other resources that are required to complete the project.
System Integration Best Practices
Based on what you learned during completion of the Discussion Board activity, identify best practice areas you will cover in your project.
Provide a diagram that shows the process flow that you intend to use for designing the systems integration architecture.
Make sure that the document is in APA format.
