Reading Nonfiction One-Pager Activity

A one-pager is an analytical, creative, and written response to a novel that completely fills one side of a piece of paper (OR one Google Slide or one Google Drawing). For your one-pager, you will focus on the big ideas from the novel including theme, conflict, tone, and rhetorical appeals as well as literary devices and elements.

Assume that you are on a team of attorneys representing a 23-year-old African American who is accused of murder. You are ready to voir dire potential jurors for the case. What type of inquiries would you make in selecting appropriate jurors for your client. Provide a rationale for your response(s).

Consistency Quiz: Abortion

For this assignment, you will receive credit for completion, but will not be graded or assessed for your answers (I wont read what your views are). The purpose of the exercise is to determine what your own views are (and arent). Some of the questions you may find difficult to answer, and you might find that some of your answers are contradictory. So, it may expose some logical inconsistencies in your views as well as gaps in your understanding or knowledge.
For each of the statements below, simply indicate whether you agree or disagree. Afterwards, reflect upon whether your answers are consistent. For example, an inconsistent pair of answers would be agreeing with #1 but disagreeing with #4.
Moral statements
Abortion is always wrong
Abortion is always wrong for late-term (after week 20) abortions
Late-term abortions should be illegal and subject to criminal punishment
Abortion is morally permissible for early-term (before week 10) fetuses
Human embryos have the same moral standing as an adult human (should be treated as equals in ethical decision making)
Fetuses have a higher moral standing than a human embryo
Newborn babies have a higher moral standing than a late-term fetus.
Infanticide is always wrong
Abortion is morally equivalent to infanticide.
Newborn babies have the same moral standing as an adult human (newborns are persons)
Metaphysical and empirical statements
Human embryos have souls/minds
In order to have a mind/soul, you must have a brain
Before birth, fetuses are not individual organisms, but rather, parts of the mother
Early-term fetuses cannot feel pain
Fetuses are in a biochemically induced coma until birth

Operations Plan

This assignment is intended to help you learn how to apply forecasting and demand models as part of a business operations plan.

Choose 3 quantitative elements that you would like to research in relation to the organization that you selected for your business plan. These elements may be related to products, services, target market, consumer preferences, competition, personnel, resources, supply chain, financing, advertising, or other areas of interest. However, at least one of these elements should be related to a product or service that your organization is planning to offer.

Develop forecasts by implementing the following approach:
Collect data, including old demand forecast (subjective data) and the actual demand outcomes.
Establish the forecasting method (from readings). Decide on the balance between subjective and objective data and look for trends and seasonality.
Forecast future demand using a forecasting method.
Make decisions based on step 3.
Measure the forecast error where applicable. Look for biases and improve the process.
Write a 525- to 700-word paper evaluating the findings from the supported data points above, and explain the impact of these findings on operational decision making. Insert charts and supporting data from Excel and other tools in your paper.
Cite references to support your assignment.
Format your citations according to APA guidelines.

Data Distributions

Part 2:
Show your work and explain your process for determining the solution for each of these problems on a word document with the solution given below the problem.
If Excel was used, please indicate that as well on the word document.
A word document and/or the Excel Workbook (if used) should be submitted to the Dropbox with labels on the worksheets to indicate which problem is being evaluated.
All answers should be clearly indicated.
Written explanation, reasoning, and rationale should use complete sentences.
One theory about the daily changes in the closing price of a stock is that these changes follow a random walk that is, these daily events are independent of each other and move upward or downward in a random manner and can be approximated by a normal distribution. To test this theory, collect the most recent closing prices of stocks for your favorite company or brand. You can find this by going to finance.yahoo.com and searching for Your Company stock history. See Example and CA Starter video in this modules LiveBinder.
Part 2A Solve real world problems using mathematics.:
Learn the properties of a probability distribution.
Choose your favorite company or brand and search finance.yahoo.com with that company name and historical stock prices. Download the stock history for this company for the past 6 weeks by selecting the appropriate dates and clicking on Download to Spreadsheet at the bottom of page.
Calculate the daily change in the closing stock prices by taking the difference between the closing and opening price for the day. This is the daily stock change.
Run the Descriptive Statistics->Summary Table in Excel Data Analysis on the daily stock change. Share the summary table.
Calculate the 1st and 3rd quartiles of the daily stock change. Share these along with the min, median, and max from 3) as your 5-Number Summary.
Create a Box & Whiskers Plot using your 5-Number Summary. (For Help, refer to M305M1s LiveBinder).
Is your daily stock change distribution right skewed (median < mean), left skewed (mean < median), or symmetric (mean median)? Identify normal probability distributions. Would you consider your daily stock change to be normally distributed? Why or Why Not? Part 2B: Solve problems using the Central Limit Theorem and Apply the sampling distribution of the mean. Consider investing in your stock and assume that the daily change is normally distributed. See Example and use Excel template found in LiveBinder. Using your mean and standard deviation, determine the probability for the average of 9 daily changes of this stock to have: A decrease of 0.5 point or more (X 0.5)? An increase of more than 0.5 point (X > 0.5)?
A decrease of 1 point or more (X 1)?
An increase of more than 1 point (X > 1)?
In your own words, explain if these are high or low likelihoods for change.
Part 2C: If you wanted to be 95% sure what the daily change would be, what range for a daily change would you expect? Use the appropriate worksheet located in the workbook found in LiveBinder.

Trade war between US and China: the end of WTO as we know it? Or The European Union and developing countries: is the trade relation fair?

In the appendix there is an description om the requirements of the essay and there are a couple of topics, please use one of those topics! If u need any information, dont hesitate to contact me!

course assessment
You will hand in an assignment through gradework at the end of the semester individually (28 January 2021, before 23:59hr), in which you write an essay about international law. You can select your own topic if you want to, or pick one of these:
– Trade war between US and China: the end of WTO as we know it?
– The European Union and developing countries: is the trade relation fair?
– Litigation across EU countries in private legal relations: complicated but fair?
– Free trade in the EU: does the goal justifies the means?

I will assess a couple of grading criteria:
1. The essay is written in a concise and academic writing style, in which APA-rules are correctly applied.
2. The legal issues are described and applied correctly and the student refers to relevant legislation and case law to support her claims.
3. The students reflection is of an acceptable quality and he adds value to existing discourse on the matter.
4. The student applies at least four theoretic items that were studied during the course offered and relate to the course materials (e.g. fiscal restrictions in the EU; MEE in the EU; economic free trade models; Brussels 1 in international private law; Rome 1 in international private law; the UN institutions; the WTO most favoured nation principle etc etc).

international team expectations

Overview
Managing an international team will present unexpected challenges. You are in different time zones; you have different schedules; you come from different cultures; and your own communication style may be different from that of members of your team. Success of a geographically distributed team can be fostered by setting expectations that are informed by best practices and the cultures of your team members.
Scenario
Your company is expanding into a new market and has formed a new team that it would like you to manage. Your manager has sent you this note:
Thank you for taking on this challenge. You have a great team, but they come from very diverse backgrounds. Itll be up to you to make sure it is a cohesive team that communicates well and collaborates effectively. As you know, at our firm, we feel the management of our teams and human resource management are a strategic advantage for us. I would like you to write an email explaining to me what managerial approaches you will use and how you think your team will function together. Please also include your conference call invitation for your teams introduction. I would like to review what you are going to send to your team.
Prompt
For this assignment, you will write an email and introductory conference call invitation as requested by your manager.
Team Member Locations
Your team consists of the following four members from various locations across the globe:
Kaspar was born in and is based in the country you choose for your course project.
Kelly was born in and is based in the United States.
Syed was born in and is based in the United Arab Emirates.
Nina was born in and is based in India.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Write an email to your manager explaining how you plan to manage your team. It should include the following information:
Cultural considerations for each team member (For the purposes of this assignment, you can assume that each team member represents the average cultural dimensions of an average citizen of the country, and you are encouraged to use the Hofstede Insights: Compare Countries website.)
Common issues among diverse or global teams and potential conflicts that could occur in your team
Multiple management approaches you plan to use and why
A policy for selecting which holidays team members can take off that takes into account cultural considerations
A determination of whether your team will collaboratively create a team expectations and communication plan or whether you as the manager will do it on your own, explaining your decision
Create a conference call invitation, including the time of the meeting and agenda, using this Conference Call Invitation Template.
Guidelines for Submission
Submit your email as a 200- to 350-word Microsoft Word document. Submit your conference call invitation by completing the Conference Call Invitation Template. Sources should be cited according to APA style.
