Discuss three (3) valid reasons for using dietary supplements.

Dietary supplements are popular. Americans spend billions on them, and the use of supplements has dramatically increased in the past few decades. Supplements do play a vital role in helping to supply what a diet may lack. Thus, there are valid reasons for using them. At the same time, are they an adequate substitute for the nutrition that comes from wholesome and nutrient dense foods?
Read chapter 12 and “Position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics: Micronutrient Supplementation”. Then, answer the following questions:
What are dietary supplements?
Are dietary supplements healthy? Why or why not?
Discuss three (3) valid reasons for using dietary supplements.
Do you use dietary supplements? If so, what benefit are you obtaining from them? If not, would you benefit from adding them? Why or why not?
Finally, consider the following statement: It is better to get nutrients from food rather than from supplements. Discuss whether you agree or disagree.

European Colonization in America (HIST 1301)

Prompt
Evaluate the similarities and differences in the European colonization of the Americas by the Spanish, English, and French in North America before 1760.

Format:
1000 words
Double-space
12-point font
Standard written English
One-inch margins
Chicago style footnote citations. Do not cite in MLA style.

Content:
Your paper must have a main idea/thesis/argument. It cannot be a summary of the reading. Your thesis must answer the prompt. Your paper must be carefully edited. Grammar, punctuation, and spelling count. Cultivate your own voice/style. You will be writing a lot of papers in college, so find your voice. This means papers by different students on the same prompt should be distinct. It does not mean the papers are about you. Do not write about yourself and do not use a conversational tone or self-references. You must demonstrate understanding and familiarity with June 7-15 course readings: Brinkley’s Unfinished Nation, Ch 1-5, and the assigned articles in American Perspectives. You must use evidence from both books or your paper will not pass.
These are reading response essays, not research papers. There should be no other source material beyond Brinkley’s Unfinished Nation and the articles from American Perspectives; do not summarize content you have read on the internet.
A paper with no citations is an F paper.

Select a research topic from the menu listed below. If you have an alternative research topic you would like to explore, please clear it with your instructor, but make sure it is related to the course materials. Your research paper should be in sufficient depth to exceed the extent to which the text covers the material. This is a research paper, not an opinion paper. Because this is an Organizational Behavior class, you must address how the topic impacts management and/or organizations. Papers should be a minimum of 4 pages long (double spaced), a maximum of 6, concisely written in a font this size (Times New Roman, 12), grammatically correct and spell checked. You should have an additional page for bibliography (use APA style references throughout paper). Use no fewer than four resources, NOT including your text. The Internet (e.g., web-pages) should NOT be your only resource. Be careful not to plagiarize.

Law & Technology Paper

Summary:
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this assignment is to examine more closely the often-complex relationship between First Amendment rights and new advances in technology-mediated communication. To this end, this paper will ask you to review recent case law and think critically about free speech in online contexts.
Instructions
The assignment is to write a 20002200-word paper on the Supreme Court case, Packingham v. North Carolina (2017) and to bring the case into conversation with articles from peer-reviewed law journals. You will provide background information (the context for North Carolinas ban on sex offenders social media use and Packinghams lawsuit), summarize the findings by the U.S. Supreme Court (you dont need to examine the rulings by the various lower courts), and make connections to academic articles to discuss key issues related to social media and free speech. PDFs of the case and relevant journal articles are provided on Moodle. Here is the APA citation for these sources:
Packingham v. North Carolina, 528 U.S. ___ (2017)
Harding, A. N. (2021). Unfriending Tinker: The Third Circuit holds schools cannot regulate off-campus social media speech. Villanova Law Review, 66(1), 219248.
Hooker, M. P. (2019). Censorship, free speech & Facebook: Applying the First Amendment to social media platforms via the public function exception. Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts, 15(1), 3673.
Paper structure
To have a well-organized paper, I encourage you to use subheadings to clearly identify each section of your paper. You need to address the following points in your paper.
What was the background of the case? Review the North Carolina statute, Packinghams complaint, and the legal tensions at the heart of this case.
What was the final Supreme Court verdict? What were the key points of the decision? How did the Supreme Court Justices support their legal reasoning/argumentation?
Now think about free speech and social media beyond this case. Based on the journal articles, discuss what youve learned about the following key issues:
Censorship on social media (Who is allowed to censor? When do First Amendment protections apply?)
Students First Amendment rights and social media (Who can regulate students online speech? When and under what circumstances?)
The public function exception (What is it? Why does it matter in the context of free speech online?)
The right to access social media (Why is it important for individuals to be able to access social media? What is at stake with the access issue?)
Conclusion (final reflections and thoughts)

Citations
Include appropriate in-text citations as well as a reference page in APA format.
Submission and grading information
Your paper is due by 06/17 Thursday 11:59 pm. Submit your assignment on Moodle using Turn-It-In.
