Do you think seeking out political organizations online – their websites, social media pages, etc. – is the best way to become informed about political issues?

[B] In what ways might the online dissemination of political viewpoints and agendas benefit those wanting to become politically active? What possible benefits and / or issues can you see resulting from the ability for most people to share their political thoughts and perspectives openly through social media?

[C] New media facilitates the process of “vote swapping,” as discussed in the Chapter 6 case study and in the lecture. Is vote swapping a good thing or a bad thing for our political system?

2. Explain how to access and search Eurostat’s databases, including tips for finding
relevant data sets and variables for an industry or organization of your choice.
3. Demonstrate how to download and manipulate data from Eurostat’s databases using
statistical software (such as JASP or PSPP), including tips for cleaning and organizing
data.
4. Make an example research question or topic, based on your organization/industry, using
data from Eurostat’s databases to answer the question and further explore the topic.
This should include a step-by-step guide on how to use the databases to find relevant
data, clean and organize the data, and conduct basic statistical analyses.

strategies for interpreting and presenting data clearly and meaningfully.
• Your tutorial should be well-organized, easy to follow, and include screenshots or other
visual aids to help illustrate your points. You should also include a list of resources or
references that your audience can use to continue learning about Eurostat and statistical
analysis. You should also include appropriate tables, figures, and screenshots to

• According to Harvard Style Citation, your sources should be stated in-text and in the
bibliography. You can find all you need to know about Harvard Style Citation online. For
the appearance/graphics of the paper, you have more freedom and do not need to follow
Harvard Style. You must cite the sources of all ideas, facts, and information used that
are not your own, even if you have put the information into your own words, that is to
paraphrase. Failure to do so is plagiarism, even if the oversight is unintentional.
• All research papers must be in Microsoft Word. The expected length is about 3000-4000
words. Please make use of graphs and tables as appropriate. If using a lot of tables and
data, put in an appendix, if the usage is moderate it works to put it in the paper
embedded in the text. Your academic sources must be of good quality, primary sources
are superior to secondary sources.
• Retain your research notes and rough notes so that if a question arises as to the actual
source and its location, you will be able to address that question promptly. Also, you
should retain one electronic copy of your final research project in case the first copy is
lost or misplaced.
