TOPIC, RATIONALE, AND ANNOTATED SOURCE LIST

TOPIC, RATIONALE, AND ANNOTATED SOURCE LIST

Overview

Note:
Assume you are an investigative reporter for a major publication (magazine or newspaper) who has been assigned to research important ethnic, racial, gender, or class issues that are evidencing problems and affecting people in a local area, workplace, or specific part of the world. Your goal is to provide an in-depth analysis of and put a human face on the issue, the problems being evidenced, and proposed changes to bring about improvement for those affected. You will report your analysis in a series of articles that the editor plans to publish in two major parts.
The breakdown of the assignments for this series of articles is as follows:
Week 2: The Topic, Rationale, and Annotated Source List assignment requires you to conduct preliminary research and select one topic area for the series. Please review this video for instructions on how to format an Annotated Bibliography.

Choose one of the following topics to use for all of the assignments listed above.
African American equality issues in the U.S.

Requirements
Write a 2–3 page paper in which you:
Identify one topic area you would like to research for the series of articles. The topic area selected should involve problems for those affected.
Provide a rationale with three reasons for selecting the topic area.
Include an annotated source list of five credible, reliable sources for the selected topic area. A sample annotated source list [PDF] has been provided for your reference.
Evaluate resources and rationale for a selected topic about issues and problems concerning class, ethnicity, gender, or race to explore the impact of inequity on cultural groups.

Comprehensive Reflection Paper (Job Done For MamaSoup) A Canadian Business

***Please Read the Instrcutions below Carefully to Understand, Please Again

1. The purpose of the final report is to critically reflect on your 100+ hours of field-based learning experience. The student is expected to compare and to contrast their initial understanding of the ‘workplace’ to their understanding held at the end of their work placement. A successful paper will use concrete examples and links between the material we have studied throughout the term.

2. The comprehensive paper is intended to be a more holistic look/reflection at your entire placement experience. Not only in terms of where you started from (in terms of your understanding) and finished, but also how the pieces (your weekly experiences) from this journey fit into the overall experiential learning opportunity; so pay attention to the nuances of your particular placement and how these connections formed throughout the weeks you were there (hence, one of the reasons we do detailed timesheets). You can recount your journey as just that, a journey from the beginning weeks until the end of the term. Keeping things sequential and connecting the theory/literature to your experiences as you go along. Alternatively, you might choose to recount experiences and the evolution of those experiences as they apply to the week-on-week subject matter we’ve looked at over the term; so, this approach would follow our course outline timing more. Or, you might choose an entirely different approach to convey your experiences, the evolution of your understanding of workplace, and how the literature/theory ties in to everything. Whatever approach you choose, be sure to use concrete, specific and detailed examples to help tie everything (your experience, understanding of the workplace and the literature) together

3. Please, NOTE: This is work done for a business for the Semester, (Weekly Timesheets have been made, every week to note information on how the work has been going and the activities that have been carried out). Please use these weekly TimeSheets to serve as reference on what to be written.

4. FINALLY TOPICS; from course material to be linked also to reflection to show understanding of the course.

I have used Apple and Samsung in the past so either is okay, or if you choose to do one of the other organizations that’s fine too

Aspirin lab report

– One abstract with results from both labs; keep the abstract under 250 words.
– One introduction about the synthesis of Aspirin, explain why saponification and esterification are important reactions and how they are used in the real world. You should cite ALL your sources and use superscript numbering.
– Discussion:
– One table of reagents where you add all the reagents used in both labs. Do not forget the calculations.
– Explain the results in two parts.
Part I will include the saponification, explain and show the mechanism. Explain the results with the IR (include the spectrum in here), the melting point (was it pure or not? Remember that the narrower the range is, the purer the compound is), and yield.
Part II will include today’s information. Explain and show the esterification mechanism. Explain the results of IR, show and explain the functional groups you should see, and compare it with the previous one. You should have different frequencies for OH from the last lab, and the ester group from today’s lab. Include NMR spectrum, and peak assignation with the structure drawn in the spectrum. Include the yield.

– Half of you got aspirin, and half did not. Please check your NMR spectrum, the zoomed-in part. If you have a doublet, triplet, chloroform, doublet, and triplet overlapped, you do not have your product. That means that your esterification never happened because of the wrong calculation of the equivalents or because you forgot to add the phosphoric acid. So, what you have is the NMR of the salicylic acid. If the doublet and triplet are not overlapping, then you have aspirin. So, the correct order of the aromatic peaks should be doublet, triplet, triplet, chloroform, and doublet.
The correct IR should have a peak for the ester around 1750, and the peak of the OH around 3200 should not be there.
If you did not obtain the aspirin, please use the following NMR to explain and compare your spectrum with the correct spectrum (include both in your report: yours and the good one): Aspirin NMR
All the figures must have the correct format, must be mentioned in the text, and must be placed after the paragraph where they are mentioned.
The template says something about TLC, but we did not do it. So, ignore the TLC part.

– Experimental:
Divide it into two parts, and explain briefly what you did in each part.
Do not forget to use the official NMR format. I posted an announcement on D2L. You can find an example in the general format: formal lab report

– One conclusion for both experiments.
References: use the ACS style only, please.

Benign endometrial hyperplasia

A 40-year-old has an endometrial biopsy report: benign endometrial hyperplasia.

1. Explain the diagnosis.
2. Which cells are implicated in this diagnosis? Compare and contrast
atrophy vs. hyperplasia.
3. How does dysplasia differ from hyperplasia?
4. Does hyperplasia lead to neoplasia? Defend your answer.
