Explain why you think that the agency created a plan to evaluate the program.

Write a paper analyzing the relationship between study design and statistical analysis used in the case study.

Explain why you think that the agency created a plan to evaluate the program.
Explain why the social work agency chose to use a chi-square statistic to evaluate whether there is a difference between those who participated in the program and those who did not. (Hint: Think about the level of measurement of the variables.) Describe the research design in terms of observations (O) and interventions (X) for each group. Interpret the chi-square output data and provide support for your interpretation. (Hint: Review the value.) What do the data say about the program? Use the Learning Resources to support your paper. Make sure to include appropriate APA citations and a reference list. Submit a 1-page paper analyzing the relationship between study design and statistical analysis used in the case study.

What is the recommended decision using the optimistic, conservative, and minimax regret approaches?

1. Myrtle Air express decided to offer direct service from Cleveland to Myrtle Beach. Management must decide between a full-price service using the company’s new fleet of jet aircraft and a discount service using smaller capacity commuter plans. It is clear that the best choice depends on the market reaction to the service Myrtle Air offers. Management developed estimates of the contribution to profit for each type of service based upon two possible levels of demand for service to Myrtle Beach: strong and weak. The following table shows the estimated quarterly profits (in thousands of dollars):
Type of Service Strong Weak
Full Price $960 -$490
Discount $600 $300

a. What is the decision to be made, what is the chance event, and what is the consequence for this problem? How many decision alternatives are there? How many outcomes are there for the chance event?

b. If nothings is known about the probabilities of the chance outcomes. What is the recommended decision using the optimistic, conservative, and minimax regret approaches?

c. Suppose that management of Myrtle Air Express believes that the probability of strong demand is 0.7 and the probability of weak demand is 0.3. Use the expected value approach to determine an optimal decision.

d. Suppose that the probability of strong demand is 0.8 and the probability of weak demand is 0.2. Use the expected value approach to determine an optimal decision.

2. Dollar Department Stores has just acquired the chain of Wenthrope and Sons Custom Jewelers. Dollar has received an offer from Harris Diamonds to purchase the Wenthrope store on Grove Street for $120,000. Dollar has determined probability estimates of the store’s future profitability, based on economic outcomes, as: P($81,000) = .2, P($100,000) = .3, P($120,000) = .1, and P($150,000) = .4.
a) Should Dollar sell the store on Grove Street? Why?

b) What is the EVPI? Why?

Discuss the pathogenesis of complications (disease process) associated with obesity for the following systems: Endocrine, Cardiovascular, Renal, Hematologic, Reproductive and Gastrointestinal in general.

• Discuss the pathogenesis of complications (disease process) associated with obesity for the following systems: Endocrine, Cardiovascular, Renal, Hematologic, Reproductive and Gastrointestinal in general. You must discuss the pathophysiology of at least 3 diseases under each system. (This is independent of the family presentation)This must be at the CELLULAR LEVEL. Be sure to include how it occurs, what exactly the cells specific to that body system, cytokines, hormones, receptors, etc… are doing or not doing. Discuss the specific players, how are they affected and/or changed due to obesity. SO HOW DOES OBESITY LEAD TO THESE PARTICULAR 3 DISEASES NOT HOW DOES THE DISEASE LEAD TO OBESITY!
• The Collins’ Family: Discuss each family members disease and the risk factors associated with obesity for each of the family members in the case study. (Individual and family as a whole). Include a potential plan for each family member. (Individual and family as a whole). The case analysis is an open book, open note take home assignment and is meant to be an Individual student assignment, not a group project:
• All questions must be answered.
• Points will be deducted for late submission: 5 points per day.
• Responses to case study questions may be ‘bulleted’ or ‘dot-pointed’, rather than written in narrative style and this format is highly recommended. The case analysis should be written in APA 7th ed. Format, include a cover page and reference list. MUST BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS!
• Minimum 20 pages or content! Maximum 30 pages!
Please note: In addition to the course textbook, students are expected to utilize evidence-based/research-based sources (journals, practice guidelines, etc.) for the analysis. NOT Youtube video’s!

Case Study:
Meet the Family- The Collins’ are a family of five who live in a 5 bedroom single family dwelling. The family includes:
• Melanie, 38 years old, with hypothyroidism, lupus (SLE), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
• Brad, 40 years old, with anemia
And their children:
• Ella, 4 months old, with ventricular septal defect,
• Sarah, 8 years old, with allergies and asthma,
• Seth, 15 years old.
• Melanie’s 26 year old sister, Lindsey and her parents Marilyn, 69 years old with osteoarthritis and dementia, and Ralph, 75 years old with Type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease also live with the Collins’.
The Case Analysis:
More than one-third of adults in America are obese (35.7%) and obesity now affects 17% of all children and adolescents in the United States (CDC, 2013). Obesity has been a continual and cross-generational problem for the Collins family. Melanie and Brad, both have BMIs >30 and Sarah’s and Seth’s BMIs are at and above the 95th percentile, respectively. Ralph’s BMI is 28.5. Lindsey’s BMI has been consistently 27 to 29 over the past seven years.
Discussion Questions:
• Introduction: discuss obesity statistics, etiology, and pathophysiology. Give a thorough overview of Obesity, cells, cytokines, hormones

To see the required components and associated points in the assignment rubric, please view this assignment through the

Part 1: Research Paper Revisions
You will review the feedback that you have received on your first draft (from your instructor, peer review, and/or self-review),
and you will make revisions and edits based on your goals.
You will track the changes from your first draft so that your instructor can easily identify where you made revisions.
Use strikethrough to indicate areas that should be deleted.
Use boldface to indicate areas where you are adding content.

Part 2: Expanded Reflection (40 points)
You will answer reflective questions on the research writing experience and process. This is an expanded reflection because it

as specific as possible.
What changes occurred in your understanding of your selected issue during researching and writing? Consider
what you knew or believed about the topic before and what you know or believe about it now. Also, consider whether you look at
the issue from a different perspective following your research and whether you have reconsidered opinions or assumptions that
you held at the beginning of the semester. Answer in one paragraph of approximately 5-7 sentences, and be as specific as
possible.
How did changes in your understanding of your selected issue occur? Consider which sources from your research had the

consider any obstacles that you faced, how you handled them, and whether you would handle them the same or different in
the future. Answer in one paragraph of approximately 5-7 sentences, and be as specific as possible.
Sources for expanded reflection: No minimum number of sources. Cite any sources you use in APA format.

Which of the ten adversarial tactics (see lecture notes) mentioned in Dunk Tank do you feel most confident addressing as a leader?

5. Share a time when you had or witnessed a Dunk Tank experience as a leader. Please explain.
In reflection, I had a “Dunk Tank” experience a few years ago. When employed at a privately owned facility, I could have dealt with the adversary I was dealing with. I enjoyed working at the facility and excellently led the team through a deficiency-free annual survey. When working with one of my managers, I tried my best to deal with my emotional triggers for almost two years. He continually tried to create distance between myself and the owner by calling and telling her untrue things; he created a community of paranoia for the owner. I reached a breaking point and told her either she would get rid of him or I would go. She refused to allow me to terminate him, so I left. I was not equipped with the adversary tactics taught in class. I will be mature enough to work through leadership challenges more effectively next time.
6. Which of the ten adversarial tactics (see lecture notes) mentioned in Dunk Tank do you feel most confident addressing as a leader? Please explain.
Becoming confident in one’s ability to “handle” adversity as a leader takes a skill set like no other. Rising out of the adversary is an experience that most leaders have had to conquer. The one adversarial tactic that has helped me as a leader is bringing people together to advert rumors that can otherwise create unhealthy community paranoia. There is often a lack of knowledge, and when given facts, I have successfully facilitated collaboration that didn’t exist before. 4. If you ask Amy Gallo (2013) How to Manage Someone You Don’t Like, she would say to spend more time with them. What are your thoughts about that?
I agree, “Over time, if you work together closely, you may appreciate one another (talents and differing viewpoints). The suggestion is that spending more time with someone with a different view can lead to a positive outcome. Still, I would say that it is essential that the emotional aspects are resolved or that a facilitator is present to serve as a guidepost and cheerleader. As a leader, bringing out the best in others does not occur without work. I am optimistic that everyone can learn to handle frustration, overcome hidden biases, and propel organizational strategies collaboratively. However, not everyone has achieved the ability/to cultivate the diplomatic poker face Gollo (2013) speaks of in her attempts to remind readers of the importance of remaining professional and positive.
