ORGANIZATION: MARCH OF DIMES

Community-based organizations (CBO’s), whether private, governmental, non-profit, or faith-based serve a key function in the implementation and provision of health care services and information to individuals and diverse group of people. This project will consist of a written assignment providing an insightful and detailed report of a pre-assigned CBO and the role they play in educating, empowering, and providing health programs and/or information to targeted community members or groups.
Your written assignment will follow APA guidelines (see Titanium for link to a guide). It should include a title page followed by a minimum of 8 pages, double-spaced with one-inch margins using a 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font. Provide at least 6 in-text citations using APA guidelines; these can include citations from the organization’s literature (brochures, fact sheets, and publications), website (stick with .org, .edu or .gov), textbooks, and personal communications with staff/volunteers at the organization. A reference page with all used references should be included.

· What is the agency’s mission and vision?

Organizational Structure
· Does it have a Board of Directors, Trustees, or Supervisors?
o Who are they?
o Are they elected or assigned?
o How long are their terms?
· How many employees and volunteers does the organization have?

o What types of trainings or staff development opportunities are provided to their staff and volunteers?

· Who is the primary target population (lower SES, specific cultural group, specific age group, etc)?

· Where are services or programs offered?
· Where and how are the services and programs marketed?
· How did the agency determine the needs of the population, or the types of programs needed?
· Is there a cost associated with the services?
· Are referrals made to additional programs/services?
