Prepare a case study report of an actual person (de-identified) or fictional
character and illustrate the impact that substance abuse has had upon them at
the individual, familial, and societal levels.
Include
the following elements in your case study:
Describe how
a client presents as they enter treatment.
Identify and
document the obvious symptoms such as the client’s appearance, speech, and
orientation.
Describe what
assessment will be done to determine the proper diagnosis.
Decide on
your client’s drug of choice (Heroin) and show that they meet the criteria for substance use disorder.
Consult
the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th
ed.) and provide the proper diagnoses for the case.
Choose one of
the theories reviewed in Week 3 and discuss the application of that theory
to your case.
Describe your
treatment recommendations.
