The purpose of this assignment is to explore the meanings we place on various sexual behaviors and their implications in sexual health.
One way in which we experience and express our sexuality is through behavior. The meanings we place on different sexual behaviors may be influenced by our lived experiences that interact with various aspects of our environment, such as culture, politics, and religion. In thinking about the following seven sexual behaviors in a consensual relationship (be it with a stranger or a long-term partner), do you hold a positive or negative attitude toward that behavior? Explain why your attitude is positive or negative. What aspects of your life (lived experiences, culture, politics, religion, etc.) do you think have influenced your attitude toward that behavior?
The seven sexual behaviors are:
coitus (penis in vagina);
anal sex with a receptive female-bodied partner (a penis in their anus/rectum)
anal sex with a receptive male-bodied partner (a penis in their anus/rectum)
cunnilingus (oral sex on a vulva) from a male partner
cunnilingus (oral sex on a vulva) from a female partner
fellatio (oral sex on a penis) from a male partner
fellatio (oral sex on a penis) from a female partner
