You are the chief of police in a fairly small town police department. You have discovered that one of your detectives has stolen $12,000 in cash from the evidence room. You confront him and he apologizes and returns all of the money, saying that he is behind on his mortgage. This officer is well liked by the community and has never been a problem. He has served as the DARE officer and juvenile officer before becoming a detective. He lives in town with his wife, who is an elementary school teacher and his two young sons. He begs for a second chance. What do you do?
