Discuss what it means to be an ethical leader. Then discuss how leaders exhibit unethical behavior as you describe the “dark side of leadership”.
Discuss the actions of contemporary political leaders and their followers and how they fit within “The Toxic Triangle”. You do not have to provide specific examples (although you can as long as facts are provided and not media portrayals) to avoid personal emotion-driven debate. It is helpful to think about professional politicians that have been in office over the last 10-20 years because they have been some of the most influential political leaders and the cause of many current problems in society. For example, Bill Clinton is known for his charisma (Destructive Leaders) and was impeached because of his relationship with Monica Lewinsky (Susceptible follower due to perhaps ambition and low maturity). This incident was a perceived threat to cultural values as many of Clinton’s followers did not have a problem with his behavior even though it fit the category of Sexual Misconduct in the Workplace.
