tube. (It is a 28 minute documentary.) Write an essay that answers the questions:
where were the immigrants from, why did they leave, what were the conditions
like on the ship, how did they travel (steerage) and what were the reasons for
stopping at Ellis Island? Discuss the assimilation of these immigrant groups.
Think critically about immigration both then and now. What do you think about the way America has
treated immigrants? Do you have any suggestions for the future of immigration?
