Do attitudes determine behavior?

Do attitudes determine behavior? Why is this so? When is this not so? Please relate your responses to research addressed in the textbook, give examples you’ve seen in the world, and discuss ways you think you might scientifically measure what you propose.
–You can generate your thought process by doing these exercises…
•Ask yourself if you feel that homelessness is a problem in our society. Now ask yourself when you last did anything to solve the problem.

•Ask yourself if you believe it is important for your health to eat a minimum of 5 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables per day. Now ask yourself how many servings of fresh fruits and vegetables you eat in an average day.

•Ask yourself if it makes sense to rely on nonrenewable energy sources. Now ask yourself if you own a car that runs on gasoline or coal-generated electricity.
–Some of you will be able to find congruence between your attitudes and behaviors in one or more of these exercises, but most of us will not. What does that say about us? What does the research have to say about it?
